Congratulations to Whitewater on a great victory in La Crosse. Despite some sloppy play (10 turnovers total) it was an enjoyable game on a picture-perfect day. The Warhawks can fairly claim that they are the best team in the WIAC. It will be interesting to see if they can run the table and make some noise in the playoffs. Again, sincere congrats to the Warhawks and all their fans.

BooYaa,

That was one heck of a football game! 60 degree temp, beautiful blue skies, majestic Grand Dads Bluff, 4600 screaming football fans, I'm talking Warhawks and Eagles at Roger Harring Field at Memorial Stadium in La Crosse.  Kudos to the Eagles for a valiant fight to the end.

I was impressed with the La Crosse opening  "no huddle" drive; I thought that kept the Warhawk defense on edge.  Although, the Hawks looked like they had some delays getting the defensive plays onto the field the rest of the day with out it.

I can't fault the Warhawk defense on field. Should have looked up some stats, but they played BIG, the goal line stand was INCREDIBLE. Hard to single out individuals after today's performance.  BIG, BIG plays from the D-line, Linebackers and Secondary. Especially after Tennies came in and started lighting things up in the fourth quarter.

Warhawk, O-line was very good, always nice to see that "Leave it to Beaver" plays as well in Gods Country as it does through out the State. ;D  Not the best game for the receiving core, but they made some big plays when they were needed.

I pity the opponent when the WARHAWKS can get the penalties under control.

Thank you La Crosse and Whitewater for a great football afternoon!  This game was everything I hoped it would be, less the ankle injury to Joe Tietjen in the first quarter.

GO WARHAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I missed the 1st quarter, but made it for the last 3. Kind of a sloppy game, but looking beyond that, Whitewater is a tough, solid and pretty good football team.  Not looking too far ahead, but they can run the table in the WIAC.

What a season UW-Whitewater is having!  What a season UWW's  Justin Beaver is having!  In yesterday's 29-23 win at La Crosse, Beaver rushed for his third consecutive career-high... 49 carries for 273 yards at 3 TDs. The previous two weeks, Beaver rushed for 218 yds at Stevens Point and 195 yds vs. Eau Claire.

After missing the season-opener at St. Norbert, Beaver has rushed for 946 yds in just 5 games, with a chance to eclipse the 1000 yd mark the earliest in school history.

What amazes me most during this three-game stretch for Beaver is his durability at just 5'8, 196 lbs.  In the three-games, Jason has rushed 47 times vs. La Crosse, 34 times vs. Stevens Point, and 32 times vs. Eau Claire.

Correction on previous post.  Justin Beaver has rushed for 926 yds, not 946 yds in 5 games played this season.

Wow, what a day. After watching the BADGER game and listening to the WARHAWK game I'm just glad to be alive and posting today.  Thankfully the PACKERS aren't playing today.  My heart needs the rest.  ;D

First off, congrats to LaCrosse.  It was a sloppy game but they never quit playing and nearly pulled off the rally.

Fortuanately this WARHAWK team never did either.

Great job WARHAWKS.  It might not have been pretty at points but the job got done and today that's all that matters.  Justin Beaver was outstanding again and the offensive line is getting better weekly.  Jacobs throw to Mrvicka on third down, setting the stage, was clutch as was the whole drive.  The defense held LaCrosse to 64 yards rushing on 28 attempts.  Holding the Eagle to a field goal on a 17 yard field and following it up with the goal line stand on a 15 yard field  was huge and ended up being the difference.

At the midway point Beaver is certainly a legitimate POY candidate.  He's having an incredible season.   How ironic is it that were it not for Burns being unable to play he would only have been a part time player.  But there's still another half season to be played.

WARHAWKS move on to Platteville and homecoming.   NO LET DOWN

Watched the LAX-WW game. For suposedly the two best teams in the WIAC, it was the sloppiest game Ive seen in years. It was like playing "give away" in checkers.

LAX showed absolutely no ability to run the ball, and WW turned the ball over in every way imaginable.

It was a great win for WW, but both teams have much to improve on if they hope to do anything in the post season. Much has been said about the WIAC feeling the signs of the 100 man roster, and now the red shirt rule. It could be this is the year that it all  catches up. The conference seems the weakest since I've been watching. (since 1997) I hope I'm wrong, like I usually am.

Oldpa,
I knew it was a down year in the WIAC just by looking at the non-conference record and scores.  UWW is definitely the class of the league with the playoffs and possibly St. Norberts, Lakeland, or North Central on their radar.   This may nip them in the butt in a few weeks, but double digit favorites here on out with Beaver as a possible record breaker.

Question for the Whitewater faithfull.
How is Neil Mrkvicka doing? He's from my hometown, Greendale(who just clinched a share of the Woodland conference title), so I was just curious.

Pioneerbacker

Obviously the UWP/UWO did not have the conference and playoff implications that the "Big Game" had (well, maybe for one team it did), but I thought it was a great college football game, regardless.  I guess it proves how tough the conference is.  Congrats to UWO for a well-played game.  "Mo" was the man.  Now, on to UW-W, yikes.

In response to Klutch's question, Neil Mrkvicka is having a solid season for UWW.  He ranks 2nd in the WIAC in punt returns, averaging 13 per return including a touchdown.  He is also part of the Warhawks four wide receiver rotation on offense. Mrk has caught 10 passes (15.9 yd per catch ave) and a touchdown. His receiving touchdown was a 38 yard "hail mary" catch at the end of the 1st half of the Warhawks win over St. Xavier.
