The warhawks don't need to worry about Eau Claire because in head to head competition they beat the Blugolds, and therefore win the tie breaker.
They do need to worry about the Titans. They seem like they are for real,as they have alway started out strong in non conference and then faded come the coference season.
As fa as all the BS about the #1 seed and everything. Who cares.Because everyone knows that the warhawks play in the toughest d3 conference in america.
GO WARHAWKS BEAT THE TITANS
UW Whitewater football team 2005 WIAC Conference champions

I hope the WW players don't have the same attitude some of the posters have. They have their hands full trying to win out in the conf. They have played two very poor games thus far, against EC and LAX. They can't play like they did in those games and expect to win in the playoffs, and their special teams have been bad enough to cost them a chance to win close games too. Instead of celebrating, now is the time to get to work.

I don't think some of this recent chatter belongs on this board.  It's understandable the recent bad blood between UW W and UW P, and I am going to bet the "arrogant jerk" tag goes back a couple years when UW P beat UW W on homecoming and the Whitewater team and coaches walked off the field during the trophy presentation.  I think some of the new posters from UW P were part of that game so their views are a bit more personal, but I think most of us felt the Pios. would be overmatched going into Whitewater (as much as that pains me to say).

Whitewater is finall figuring out how to win this year.  They are traditionally one of the most talented teams in the conference, but mental mistakes always come up to get them in the end.  Will this team be any different?  I guess we'll wait to see, but it's going to take more than the positive words of their posters to get it done on the field.  I wasn't at the game on Saturday, so it's hard to compare Oshkosh and Whitewater.  Oshkosh is a pretty good team, but if Whitewater is as good as advertised, they should beat Oshkosh from what I saw at Platteville.

I played my 4 years of college ball down in the IIAC and this is my first fall that I have free, so I spend my Saturdays going to college games around the area. This past Saturday I went to see the Stout/River Falls game and in all my years of seeing D3 college football games, I've NEVER seen a team as cocky, arrogant and undisciplined as UW-Stout. They had two personal fouls for unsportsman-like conduct on Saturday, and could have had several more for excessive celebration after touchdowns and trashtalking on the field. After EVERY score there was some choreographed dance, even involving some guys who had nothing to do with the success of the play. It's one thing to be pumped up after you score, but this went far beyond simply being excited. As a neutral fan, I was getting angry with the lack of sportsmanship, lack of discipline, and the arrogant cockyness of the Stout players.  They were already pounding RF on the scoreboard, this was simply rubbing it in. I could understand a little bit of cockyness if they were actually a powerhouse team, but they're not. The last time they made the play-offs was in 2000 (every player on the Stout team now would have still been in high school) and they aren't going to make them this year (especially since they lost to E.C., and still have LaX and WW to play). They are not nationally ranked, or undefeated. My point is that they are an AVERAGE football team, they have NO reason what so ever to be as cocky as they are. And as for coaching, I am shocked that any coach would allow his team to act like that on the field. I don't know what kind of program Strop is running over there at Stout, but as a WI high school coach, I will not send ANY of my players to that program after what I saw on Saturday. That's not what D3 football is about. To put it bluntly, they were a disgrace to the game!

It wasn't really fair, Voice.  I knew I had you on that one.      ;)   Bring your Visa Thursday.   ;D

I hope no one on the team is talking about the #1 seeding.   We've got three tough WIAC games to win before that means anything.  Take care of those and the seeding, whatever it is, will take care of itself.  It's important that we stay focused on priority #1, winning the WIAC championship and this week that means making it 14 out of 16 against a surprising and undoubtedly confident Titan team.

Downtown, will you be broadcasting the game?

padmofu

LC65- you're not the only one to notice that. I can't explain it, but I know that it's not just Strop. I played against Stout in the last two years of the Meierkort era and they were just as unsportsmanlike, maybe even worse, back then. Perhaps one of our Devil posters has an answer for that?

FinalScore

The Blue Devils players have a ton of heart.  They are competitors and want to win.  Their frustration comes from the offensive side of the ball.  The guys simply do not care for Asst Coach Carey.  The consistant swearing and negative attitude on the side lines is a distraction.  At the RF game Carey was moved into the booth and his negative coaching style was eliminated from the field.  The players reaction was immediate and the response to the scoring got a bit overzealous.   After the Oshkosh game there was an attitude adjustment made with a problem player being eliminated.  The Devils were excited to get on the right track once again.  That's not to say that they still need some discipline.

The Realist

Well,

I guess my amazing posts just didn't work this weekend.  Since I am the realist, then I will not grip about any running up the score.  As one coach said, "If we can't stop them from scoring then that's our problem."  So I'll take the high road on that one; what else would I do anyway.  Sorry, I wasn't there, I went to the badger game; which was awesome.

However, I will say one thing about the UWP vs UWW matchups; I won't gripe about any running up of the score, but then that means that the UWP victory last year was not a fluke, and if anyone still thinks it was a fluke, then I dont' really care becasue that's why they play the game and we won and that's all that matters, weather it's by 60 points one 1, a win is a win.

BDB

LC65,

Obviously by my moniker I am a BlueDevil fan. I was at the game saturday as well as every other home and many away games the Devils have played for years.
I am not going to make any excuses for the program or the coaches because I don't think any are required. Yes, it's true they got a couple celebration penalties after touchdowns. Those penalties don't seem to be too hard to come by these days. I didn't see late hits or hear any trash talking.
I did watch a fired up team coming off of 2 hard losses that was playing a game they love on Homecoming day in front of their friends, family and former teamates. They were having success and being college kids in the prime of life.
In my viewpoint as a BlueDevil/WIAC supporter, Coach Strop's (and before him Meierkort) teams play with no less (or more ) class than any other in the conference. They all play with intensity and exuberance.

2 cents

I would agree, a win is a win, and all losses hurt!

I'm surprised the WARHAWKS jumped to #2 in the D3 poll.  I know some of the guys were on the web sites last night, but I got the impression they celebrated the Platteville win over the weekend and were looking forward to getting back to work Monday!  I know the coaches will find plenty to work on this week.  Oshkosh is a sleeping titan; they have given Whitewater problems in the second half of all the match-ups I've witnessed.  I for one will wait and see what the end of the season brings. But later this week, I just might check flights to Virginia.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO WARHAWKS!!!!!!!!!!

WEEK 9
Point has one big win in them, Eau Claire loses :P

La Crosse will not lose 3 in a row, Stout loses :D

I was going to take Platteville, but they whine too much, RF wins 8)

Oshkosh has had a great season, WHITEWATER WINS, WHITEWATER WINS, WHITEWATER WINS ;D

padmofu

I guess I'll post my picks too before I start to second-guess myself...
Oshkosh, in the upset of the season
La Crosse, sick of losing
River Falls, continuing their long win streak against uwp
Eau Claire, keeping hopes alive

Was really tempted to pick UWO like padmofu, but just couldn't pull the trigger.

MY PICKS:

WW
LAX
RF
EC

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, if WW and EC both finished with one loss.  Isn't the tie breaker the last team to not have made the playoffs?  I'm not sure who that is but that would be interesting because if it was EC then the WIAC would forsure get two in the playoffs.

Side note, if I am wrong about the above, what are the real chances that if EC wins out, that they would get a at large bid with three losses?  I know the losses came against #2, #3 and a St. Francis team that would probably be in the top ten in D3 as well, but three losses is still a large number for a playoff team.

Just Bill

I believe, in a two-way, tie, the tiebreaker would go to the winner of the head-to-head game.  The "last team to get the bid" tiebreaker is reserved for three-way (and four-way etc.) ties that can't be resolved through head-to-head competition.
