My guess: all your answers will be pretty predictable. WIACers (and others tired of  SJU winning 4 of the past 5 region titles) will say hell, no. SJUers will say hell, yes.

And there's no way to prove it. And it doesn't matter much any way.

I'd just like to get a word in amongst the SJU and Linfield folks conversation.
NCAA Division-III stats released on Monday show Whitewater leads the nation in total offense and Justin Beaver now leads the nation in rushing. Way to go guys and good luck on Saturday up in Menomonie.

OK, back to the SJU and Linfield posters... its all yours guys (and gals).

I'd rather have a conference that is successful in the postseason than a tough one any day.

You don't have a conference that is successful in the postseason, you have a team that is successful in the postseason.

Yeah...our conference sucks so bad we have two teams ranked in the top 25... how many does the WIAC have?

Kiledrat,
Pat did such a nice job with that last comment that I should probably just leave it at that but I can't help myself.  So at week 9 you have 2 teams in the top 25.  Well. take a look at the Wiacc rankings this year.  I hate when I have to do homework!  :P

D-3 football top 25      Others receiving notes:
Preseason                                       3                                    1
Week 1                                            3                                    1
Week 2                                            3                                    1
Week 3                                            3
Week 4                                            3                                    1
Week 5                                            3                                    1
Week 6                                            2                                    1
Week 7                                            2                                    1
Week 8                                            2                                    2
Week 9                                            1  UWW                         3

You will notice how with the exception of having only 3 in the top 25 (no one in the other recieving category) in week 3, we have no less that 4 teams listed on the top 25/others recieving votes recognition list.  WIAC teams do start to move off the top 25 list into the "others receiving category" because as the weeks go on, we are BEATING EACH OTHER!  For most of the conference play, WIAC teams are facing an opponent on this list.  Can your conferenss say that?

Here is what I don't understand.  Maybe WW is the best team in the world.  Maybe they have a team that will make a run to the stagg.  How does that make them any different from the other WIAC champs who have lost in the first or second round?  How will they over come their tough conference schedule come playoff time?

bgolds

Man, why does everyone keep bringing up the past. Past playoff exp., past this, past that, past gas. The fact it is that Whitewater is good. St. Johns is good. The teams are way different than the past, its called players graduate. I am getting sick of the playoff record of the WIAC getting brought up. The  "Member that one time at band camp" attitude makes me vomit. That is why we still play the game. If it were based on the past, we would have a champion crowned already.

Personally, seeing both teams play against the blugolds, I say Whitewater was much faster on defense than St. Johns defense. I give Whitewater's offense some credit, but the reason they are undefeated is because of their defense. There Fast!

I would like to see a Whitewater/St. John's matchup. Hopefully St. John's will run into EC first though.

As far as EC goes, Don't read into this page about playoff's. You got two games left to win and then hopefully the NCAA will realize that a six game winning streak in the WIAC and 3 loses to undefeated teams is worth a trip to the dance.

footballfan413

The last few WIAC champs were not ranked #2 in the nation (which hopefully will continue) and therefore, they will recieve a higher seed and should require that they be moved out of the west to a #1 seed position which will give them an easier road to the Stagg Bowl.  That is what will make this teams chances different!  That and the fact that they are a great team which now leads the nation in total offense and have the #1 rusher in the country!

Thanks for mentioning WW's defense.  They are getting over shadowed but they too are great!

You don't have a conference that is successful in the postseason, you have a team that is successful in the postseason.

A team that is successful in the postseason is better than none! Concordia was moderately successful going 1-1 with a 2 point loss to Oxy in their non-home stadium.

FBFan413,

Good work on the homework... A lot of teams are ranked high early on until the voters realize that they were overrated which sometimes doesn't happen until late in the season.

Heck, UW Lax was ranked 9th before crapping out a 3-4 start.

Carthage started ou 13th before coasting to a 5-3 record with a 2-3 in conference record.

Salisbury was as high as 10th this season before getting beaten by Montclair St and being double monkey stomped by Wesley.

Christopher Newport was 16th preseason and is now 5-3.

Wheaton was as high as 18 before dropping to 6-2

and the list goes on.

Alternatively, many teams get better as the season goes on and the voters begin to realize that they underestimated those teams...

UWW was 21st pre-season
Concordia was 18th preseason
SJU was 10th

The only polls that really matter are the end of the year polls... where the MIAC is showing much stronger than WIAC....bottom line.

Much Stronger? I am confused? Isn't Whitewater #2? Or do you mean that the MIAC has more teams in the top 25? Well, EC is probably one win from hitting the top 25. (See others recieving votes.)

Kilderat,
Your question was how many teams did the WIAC have in the top 25.  I answered it.  Since I proved that the WIAC gets more respect in the polls than your conference, your comback is  that the polls are inaccurate and don't matter?

OR A JOB!!!!

I'm in med school, had a big exam yesterday so nothing to worry about last night and no class until 9 AM today.

Thanks for caring about me though! You WIAC guys are so considerate.

I never said the polls were inaccurate, they obviously get a lot right. I'm saying they get MORE accurate as the season plays out... which is why there are Two MIAC teams in the top 13 and 1 WIAC team in the top 25.
