Since this WIAC forum has been invaded by supporters from teams in other conferences, I can't keep everyone straight. So, miscellaneous thoughts, directed to whom it may concern:

All this talk about playoff history? Doesn't a team in the WIAC have three National Championships? (Albeit one is an NAIA one, so I guess that doesn't count?) That would be UW-La Crosse, for those of you who are keeping score at home.

Anyone from another conference want to give me a good reason why UW-La Crosse had two open dates this year? Sorry, but I don't think any team in our conference should feel obligated to fill out the schedule by playing the Eagles twice. That leaves the rest of the NCAA D3 schools to step up. Funny, no one did...

And last, but not least, based on my observations of both teams: The St. Johns team that showed up to beat UWEC would get beat by the Whitewater team that beat Eau Claire...

Sure, I'll give you credit for the NAIA championship. No hard feelings on my posts (I hope) I just like to fun around. Yes, I know its the WIAC.

You know why talk is so cheap? 'cause the supply exceeds the demand. Take care. Were all D3'ers

Hey guys lets hope SJU plays WW or EC in the playoffs and the game is good with no injuries. The winner sould play Linfield - and that winner will take it all. Most SJU posters will back to the hilt anyone who beats SJU with maybe the exception of the hated Tommies.  ;D

I do agree the WW team is a cut or 2 above as it has speed and can put the ball in the air. The key will they be ready mentally. The WIAC has dropped some easy ones in the playoffs- Coe?

See Pat has kept EC out the

OK, time for me to eat some more humble pie.  Not proud of some of my postings yesterday.  Went too negative at times.  Got a little obsessive/compulsive.  The power of anonymity behind a keyboard.  It can be a dangerous thing!  I am a true believer in karma and I need to correct what I put out yesterday. My apolgies to D-3 football.com  They do a fabulous job with this web site!  Good luck to all SJU and Linfield fans, and all other contenders in the upcoming weeks.  (Unless they are playing a WIAC team, of course!)  Good luck to the WIAC teams.  Hope we can get more than one team in!  I agree with you, True, WW has to keep their heads on straight.  Only time will tell!

I'm all for humble pie, fb413, but methinks you eat too much.  Except for a post that was deleted (I didn't get to see it), you really don't have too much to be embarassed about.  This is a board on football, after all.  If you can't have a bit of trash talking fun here, where can you have it?  I don't know abotu you, but I have enough adult responsibilities in my real life.  Your passions are supposed to run high.  You largely kept is clean and not overly personal.  I was OK with your stuff.

It was good reading, anyway.  Put a smile on my face.

Ozjohnny63,
Thanks for the support!  Actually, the posting wasn't that bad, just having a little fun with one of the Linfield posters name's  but I saw afterwards why Pat felt the need to delete it and I felt bad.

413,

I'm a believer in karma too, besides being superstitious, which is why I haven't, nor will, say a word about the postseason.  Beat Stout, beat River Falls, then talk.  That's the way it works.  Though I do get a chuckle reading the banter about matchups that may never occur.

Pat,

Could you explain to me how the Team of Week is selected?  Do coaches nominate players and then you select them from that pool?

Everyone listed has had outstanding games and I readily admit not knowing the national D3 scene well enough to know the difference so I'm not questioning any selections.  I'm just curious how they're selected.

Thanks

Check out the front page link to Pat's Playoff Predictions

He has UWW being the #2 seed in the North Central Bracket, and SJU Staying in the Linfield Bracket as the #2 there.

Not sure how the IIAC is projected as getting 3 slots while the MIAC and WIAC only get their automatic qualifiers... especially with Wartburg already having 2 losses to a 5-4 team and a 4-4 team, while Concordia has a last second loss to the #3 team in the nation ... but they know a helluva lot more about this than I.

Thoughts?

Speaking of karma, I got a bunch of "smites" when I said I didn't want to vote for the Linfield kid for Hiesman. If my karma grade on here is correct, I guess my wife has been right all along.

secondstring

I may be wrong in saying this...but the WIAC DESERVES more than one bid.  the WIAC is the best/toughest conference in the nation, and they should have a second team in the playoffs.  If EC wins out they should get a shot, and (a longshot) if UWO beats a good EC team, and a struggling LAX team, they should at least be considered.

Footfan,

Save MY piece of that humble pie   UNTIL  we lose one . ;D

Then I will eat the whole pie..   :'(

Sorry I missed your post before the axe fell. Send me an e-mail I need a good laugh.   :)

I think we will still meet down the yellow brick road this year.  ;)
