My only thought is (I only have one because its early in the a.m.) that there are two weeks to go and much can happen.

This is getting old. It's been a long, tough season already, but this keeps dragging on.

Maybe they should scrap everything and just call it the Eagle Dome.  ;)

Thanks for the fun banter yesterday....Always good to get the juices flowing debating MIAC/WIAC football!!!!

I had dinner last night with a couple guys I played with during the 93 season, when we played LAX when they had Schroeder (Man he was good!!)  We got the upper hand that game, but the biggest laugh we had was about the "Drug Testing" czars after the game running up to us...

If you recall that day was misearbly cold, the field was like a skating rink early, but soft spots started developing...

That was the only time I played against LAX, but it was a great atmosphere...

We all have our biasness, and rose colored glasses about our teams/conferences!!!

Good luck this week!!

Check out the front page link to Pat's Playoff Predictions

He has UWW being the #2 seed in the North Central Bracket, and SJU Staying in the Linfield Bracket as the #2 there.

Not sure how the IIAC is projected as getting 3 slots while the MIAC and WIAC only get their automatic qualifiers... especially with Wartburg already having 2 losses to a 5-4 team and a 4-4 team, while Concordia has a last second loss to the #3 team in the nation ... but they know a helluva lot more about this than I.

Thoughts?

Wartburg is in line for the automatic bid. If you'd read the explanation that goes with the picks you might have learned that.

Pat,

Could you explain to me how the Team of Week is selected?  Do coaches nominate players and then you select them from that pool?

Everyone listed has had outstanding games and I readily admit not knowing the national D3 scene well enough to know the difference so I'm not questioning any selections.  I'm just curious how they're selected.

Thanks

Yes, SIDs and coaches nominate players and I choose from there. This past week we got 104 nominations, including, unbelievably, 21 quarterbacks. We only got seven receiver nominations, which begs the question of who those quarterbacks were throwing to. :)

If there aren't enough nominations at a particular position, I then go to conference player of the week awards and choose from there, but we have not been in that situation this season at all.

What is the date for the first conference games?

cobbernation

B-warhawk--you will most likely beat Stout this weekend and then River Falls the following week to get into the playoffs undefeated.  A great season is happening for UWW.  When Cord scrimmaged RF this fall, they ran a 3-5 defense.  Do they still run that?  If so, I can see why they are at the bottom of the pack in the WIAC.

WSU fan-I know that the WIAC is a tough conference to play year in and year out where anything can happen during Saturdays.  The same is for the MIAC.  Even though records may not show it, but any team can win on a given sat.(excluding Auggie Tech).  But I was not trying to start anything, but don't say that a middle of the pack team can come into the MIAC and run the table.  No hard feelings here, giong back to the MIAC board.  Thats all I got.

Whoa, Cobbernation...hold them horses.

Badgerwarhawk is way too smart of a guy to agree with your opinion that WW will "probably" beat Stout this weekend.

The Devils have only 2 losses on the year, both on the road in the WIAC. One game they should have won at Oshy.

The Devils have won two in a row, including on the road at LAX.

The Devils have only lost 3 games at home in Williams stadium since it opened 4 years ago.

The WW team will have their hands full at "The Big Willy" this Saturday. I can't wait.

Yes, desertcat1, it was you that got me in trouble!!! HA! ;D   Thanks for being a good sport about it!

About the yellow brick road,  " I like how you're thinking!"

retagent

I'm glad to see that the tone here has improved so much today. If I could I would "Karmalize" footballfan413 since it looks like he got it moving in the right direction.

To desertcat - if you can't figure out what fbf413 did with your name that would have caused Pat to delete it, you need to spend more time exercising your brain.

To fbf413. I went back and read a lot of your posts, and believe me, you were not a target for my long winded primer on history. You seem to get the Big Picture, but there were others who didn't seem to.

I think the other boards, particularly the Liberty League, NWC and MIAC carry the banter, trash talk, if you will, pretty well, but when we came to the WIAC board, you were taken unaware of the tone in which that goes on. I think we've got it now Jeeves. ;) ;)

retagent,

I am like the scare crow on the yellow brick road to the stagg Bowl  again.. .. " If I only had a brain"  ..  ;D

My picks:

EC ...... lets try to forget about last years collaspe

LAX ...... still better then RF

UWP ...... Point just isnt any good

WW ....... alot closer then you think, for anyone that hasn't played at Stout, its one of the toughest places to play in the country.  That turf is crap and sucks horribly to play on, best home field advantage in the WIAC.

Whoa Nelly
