I see no one has picked Platt to beat Eau Claire.  Not surprising espically after that performance on Saturday.  The final game at the Ralph and they lose to a team like Point 31-3.  I remember last year when Platt beat Eau Claire now that was a great game.  It was back and forth action packed excitement the whole way through, truly a game of inches with neither side showing any mercy the entire game, and topping it all off with Droesslers last second touch down run.  But that was last year, the Pioneers were able to beat Eau Claire when Platt was at the top of there game.  Clearly they are not at the top of there game anymore, I say that cause I know Platteville is better than a 1-8 team.  But something happened.  But what what the heck happened?!  Why is it that no one here can answer that question, ok maybe you might not know the answer so speculate.  I mean how do they go from 6-4 last year while beating 3 ranked teams and a Div1AA team to this?   It freaken boggles the mind!!!
So for Saturdays game if it were me I would put in a lot of seniors who don't get much playing time.  Does anyone else agree with that?  I mean it's there last game and the seniors put a lot of work into that team why shouldn't they deserve a lot of playing time this Saturday?

Plattfan, I definitely agree with you on that one, but I doubt Emmy will do it. My last game as a Pioneer was in Menomonie, the last game of the 2003 season. We were down 42-14 in the 4th quarter and Meierkort literally cleared his whole sideline, rotating players every 2 or 3 plays. Emmy pulled NOT ONE starter. Even if we had a sporting chance of winning that game, our record still would have been a meaningless 4-6, 2-5. Hopefully Coach E. will play all his traveling roster this saturday, so at least they have something to be happy about this season.

With all due respect, Stevens Point is probably better than their record.  Oshkosh had to come from behind for the win and stop Point's own comeback try.  Last time I checked, Platteville was still looking for its first win in conference, and Stevens Point had two.

My picks for the week:

Point over Stout   I haven't picked against Point all year... why start now?

LaX over Oshy  Because it's at LaX
WW over RF
EC over Platte
UWSP Men's Basketball

National Champions: 2015, 2010, 2005, 2004

NCAA appearances: 2018, '15, '14, '13, '12, '11, '10, '09, '08, '07, '05, '04, '03, '00, 1997

WIAC/WSUC Champs: 2015, '14, '13, '11, '09, '07, '05, '03, '02, '01, '00, 1993, '92, '87, '86, '85, '84, '83, '82, '69, '61, '57, '48, '42, '37, '36, '35, '33, '18

Speculation:  Injuries hurt Platteville and the talent pool wasn't as good or as deep.

Oshkosh.....these guys have made a season out of winning the close ones and have more to play for.  Plus LaX struggles to stop the run.  Look for Moriarty (sp?) to have another big game.

Eau Claire....just a better team

Stevens Point....because PS said they're better than their record  ;)

WARHAWKS,WARHAWKS,WARHAWKS[/color]....leave it to
Beaver.  If he can't do it Jacobs, Jimmy and Derek can.

River Falls got mentions on ESPN2 again last night as Owen Schmitt and the West Virgina Mountaineer cleaned up on Cincinnati.   He threw a block that sent a Bearcat cornerback from the Eastern time zone into Rocky Mountain time.

ritz72,

That is absolutely too funny!  :D

Reminds me of a true headline some years back from a small newspaper in NW Minnesota. There actually are 2 small towns up there called "Fertile" and "Climax."

The headline read:

"Fertile Woman Dies In Climax"

You just can't make this stuff up!  :)

padmofu maybe you should have asked him why.  It was your last game it's not like he could have ran your you know what into the ground.  I noticed the same thing with the Whitewater game, I mean when Platt was out of the game the starters didn't leave the field. As for Emendorfer not replacing starters in that situation, you have to understand it's also the position coaches decision.  As for something to be happy about.  Well they should be happy that there playing for the love of the game.  If there not that could explain the lossess, yeah I know injuries probably had something to do with it.  But I'm on the outside looking in so I have no idea.  In 2004 game against Stout I could understand keeping the starters in the whole time sine being 6-4 is better than 5-5.  And if Platt would have lost they would have been last in the conference I believe.  But now no matter what theyll be last in the conference.  It might also be cool to see the senior kicking trio of Hill, Lilla, and Borchart see some plays on offense or defense.

Question for all of you.  Who has an idea what channel the Selection Sunday program on ESPNews will be on in the Wisconsin, Illinois area?  Is that the main ESPN channel or a different one?  There are so many different cable  ESPN's.

If that is meant to be a correction of my post, you might want to look at how it is written in the article by D-3.com on the home page.

Do you remember last year (or perhaps the year before) when Stevens Point took heat for running the score up on Platteville?  Well, this is part of the reason.  In the Stetzer era, Emmy would fall behind by four scores, and keep all his starters in against the other teams scrubs.  Then when Stetzer threw 3 TD's in the fourth, Emmy would tell everyone who would listen, "Look how close we were! We only lost to [insert team here] by 6!"  More than anything, that was the reason SP ran it up on on Platteville that year.

3rd Annual Battle for the Plunger - Oshkosh vs. La Crosse.

So far La Crosse has won both plunger matchups.  Saturday will be a great game.  Having gone to UW-0 during the rioting years, but being a devoted Eagle fan, I am torn . . . no I'm not - it's LaCrosse all the way!  It's a home game and the seniors want to end it on a win.  Can't wait to actually be at the game instead of listening on team-line from work!

GO EAGLES!!!  WIN THE PLUNGER!!!
