Thanks, padmofu for taking care of the pick'em all year.

It's a good thing I don't try to make a living picking games in Vegas or I would have to change my name to Broke BlueDevil Bob  :-\

Carry the WIAC flag high, Warhawks! And stick it right on the 50 yard line in Salem!

Thanks to Padmofu for his efforts in tracking the pickem.

Brian Carroll, you seem to have a lock on winning the darn thing.  What is this, three years running?  Congrats to the WIAC champion prognosticator.

It's a great day to be a WARHAWK fan.  Congrats to the team, coaching staff and everyone else associated with the program.  An undefeated season is no easy accomplishment in the league.  It shows a team that not only has talent but has been able to remain focused and take it one week at a time.  Now let's make some noise in the playoffs.

It was an interesting game.  Personally, I felt River Falls maybe had the best defensive effort against us of any team this season.  They were within 12 points with as much as 8 or 9 minutes remaining and had it not been for a couple of early turnovers that the WARHAWKS were able to capitalize on the complexion of the game may have been an entirely different matter.  They dominated the time of possession and Nate Anderson is a bruising runner.  With that large line in front of him he's almost impossible to stop for less than a couple of yards gain.  What was apparent was that they didnt quit on their season, came ready to play and left everything on the field.  My hat is off to them.

I drop the cliches now and sign off.  ;D

GOT BALLS? PLAY FOR THE FALLS!

BW--I tried to get the above quote into this message, but bungled it, my first attempt to transfer a quote. Anyway, I was glad to get your reaction. I knew about the planned onside kick to start the game and was sorely tempted to hint at it in my "out on a limb" prediction of a Falcon win. I knew it was an extremely slim chance, but when they completed the opening kick trick successfully and began the march to the red zone, I was feeling good. However, the interception revealed the beginning of the inevitable. They had to play errorless ball in order to upset WW.

Our D has been suspect in several games (Stout, EC, Lax) so I'm happy to hear they acquited themselves well at Perkins. I MAY get to WW for a possible second round game altho that too is a slim chance. If I get there, I'll bring the long overdue case of beer!

Thanks again, Padmofu, for the chance to  pick the winners. I dedicate the following "adapted" verses (from the ditty known as "The Ring-Dang-Do," not suitable in this forum), to you:

A PADMOFU, NOW WHAT IS THAT?
SMART AND CLEVER LIKE AN OLD TOM CAT,
WILLING AND WORTHY, A WIAC FAN TRUE,
NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL A PADMOFU!

You can be pleased with the effort Fred.

Keep me in the loop if you are able to make it down.  But I'm focusing my attention on the first game so the second round isn't on my radar yet.

oldpa:  So what injuries were you refering to on the WW defense?  Do you give Central any shot at an upset?

oldpa

KK- I'm told the injuries I referred to are minimal. Of course I give Central a chance. They must be a fine team to get to this point, and I expect all the games will be very competitive. That's what makes this time of year so much fun. All the players and coaches have worked so hard you hate to see anyone lose.

The NCAA is absolutely stupid!  Putting that many highly ranked teams in one bracket makes no sense.  People can argue that WW and St. Johns both deserve their own bracket.

Well the national championship game will be held in the West this year not Salem!

I wouldn't say that they're "stupid" but I would say that they're cheap.   This all about money and not competitive balance.

If Whitewater & St. Johns win next Saturday, the Johnnies would travel to Perkins Stadium which is certainly not setting well with the Johnnie fans.

I don't think anyone's complaining about traveling to Perkins Stadium to play WW.  Pretty much the only gripes I've heard have to do with having Linfield, WW, and SJU in the same bracket, not to mention the rest of the bracket.  If WW beats the Dutch and SJU beats Monmouth, I think we'd relish the chance to play WW in their house.

Do you Whitewater fans tailgate before, during, and after games?  If not, be prepared for the Johnnie Red traveling circus to roll into town in a big way.  Stiftungsfestivities are often more exciting than the actual game.

I'm not sure if that's saying that the festivities are really good, or the football games are really boring...

Even though I'm not a WW fan, and have even done a little ripping on them this year, I plan on attending the game Saturday...and supporting the Warhawks.  Let's not put the cart in front of the horse but, I  love to see St. Johns at Perkins Field.  I hope we show the D3 fans what the WIAC has to offer.  GO HAWKS!

Duffman,

Thanks for your last statement.  I think that everyone has SJU and WW meeting right now.  According to these fans its just a formality to play these games.  I'm not saying that Central will win the game or Monmouth will either, but I know that the kids from both those schools will give great efforts.  I really don't think that there are any easy games this time of year.  WW dismantled who was it Lakeside? sorry I forgot the name but the went on a 7 game winning streak and now play Auggie.  I think they will give a good effort too.  The one thing about football is that ball takes funny  bounces and momentum can change the game in an instant.  So good luck to all the teams in the field of 32 and lets enjoy this weekend.

I don't think anyone is thinking it's a formality. Nobody cares about some burger cookoff in two weeks, this Saturday comes first.
