Wow, I am gone for five lousy hours and you boys have ripped off 3 or 4 pages!!!  Doesn't anyone have a job or classes to get to? :D
Couple of points regarding past comments.  First of all, about the defense match-up.  We love these stats favoring SJU!!  WW defense is the best kept secret in D-3 thanks to such a potent offense.  Those boys were halfway through the WIAC before they saw the end of the 3rd quarter!! Approximately 40% of the points scored , not to mention yards gained against WW, were in garbage time.   Tends to affect the stats.  Now,  I suppose SJU will claim the same point so I guess we will have to give you that your reserves can beat our reserves!!  Let's remember that, as Pat pointed out, SJU played alot easier competition in conference since we play in the WIAC, named the  "Toughest Conference in the Country,"  in 2004 by our hosts, D-3.com.  Their definition of "Toughest." was a conference where the bottom could beat the middle of most other conferences.  Given that I would expect SJU to have better defensive stats.
Secondly, I just LOVE the personal attacks on Beaver and Kleppe!!!  You are really going to piss them off and I have seen them play football pissed off!!!! ;D  Why don't you go after the linebackers as well!!!  That could really work for us!!!
And about calling it even between the two teams QB's and WR's.  That must mean that your boys at that position have broken as many school and conference records as the WW boys!!  For the record, I did learn alot reading the last few pages!!  A good planned out point with stats to back it up is so much better than trash talk!  The pig, chicken thing got a little silly, however!!  Wow, this got long.  Sorry, just catching up to you all!!! :D :D :D

Does it amuse anyone else that we're bantering back and forth on a message board about college football and yet no one can spell, punctuate, or grammaticize correctly? :P
Nice day, huh?

Just got off the phone with "Vinny the Bookie"

Early Vegas Line ----- SJU -6.5   Over/Under 47.5

Hmmm.... thats funny,  this came from pcole:

In fact, this reminds me of another off the record conversation that I shouldn't be having on the board (and if anyone from the NCAA asks, we totally are not) ...

Saturday night's opening second-round lines ... to determine favorites and to entertain each other, NOT TO BET ON. Just so we're 100% clear.

Consulted on with at least one other person who has seen a lot of games this season, done completely from memory and unofficial as unofficial can be.

Feel free to disagree.

Hobart at DelVal: Aggies by 2.5
Rowan at Union: Dutchmen by 4.5 (although Profs by 3 was discussed)
Bridgewater at Thiel: Tomcats by 1.5
Wesley at UMHB: Crusaders by 13.5
Capital at Wabash: Little Giants by 1.5
Augustana at Mount Union: Purple Raiders by 9.5
Concordia-Moorhead at Linfield: Wildcats by 16.5
St. John's at UW-Whitewater: Warhawks by 2.5

Something to that effect. And you definitely did not hear this from me.

No, Kubiak, it did not come from me. Please read more closely. Thanks.

I am blinded by the shouting from the Kilted crowd. If you said anything relevant, please let me know.

I am amused by the defense of the Johnnie schedule dregs, considering that one of the Whitewater schedule dregs BEAT the Johnnie dregs 27-15.

Remember, all I said was that the advantage was EXAGGERATED by the schedule, not CAUSED ENTIRELY by the schedule. Sheesh. You boys need to learn some reading comprehension. Wasn't that some fancy class you all took together freshman year? I seem to remember that was part of the freshman year experience at SJU/CSB, as lauded about on my recruiting visit.

How 'bout some point/counterpoint?

Approximately 40% of the points scored , not to mention yards gained against WW, were in garbage time.

Yeah, SJU got up on a bunch of teams, too.  We dropped in "prevent" late in a lot of games, too.  Our starters didn't play much in the 4th quarter, either.  I think all these things go without saying.

Um, I think this was the point of taking the stats against the weak teams out in the first place.  It doesn't matter what a playoff team does against the bottom teams in the conference because you don't see Northwestern, Augsburg, or {generic last place WIAC team} in the playoffs.  Did the WIAC have a second place team as good as Concordia-Moorhead this year?  Because that's the type of team you see in the playoffs.

Secondly, I just LOVE the personal attacks on Beaver and Kleppe!!!  You are really going to piss them off and I have seen them play football pissed off!!!! ;D  Why don't you go after the linebackers as well!!!  That could really work for us!!!

Do your players spend a lot of time reading Post Patterns?  Do they use PP as motivation on Saturday?  Come on, now...

And about calling it even between the two teams QB's and WR's.  That must mean that your boys at that position have broken as many school and conference records as the WW boys!!

I guess it goes without saying that UW-W and WIAC records are a lot easier to break than SJU and MIAC.  I will grant you, Kofoed/Gearman/Royce-Diop/Haugen are no Keating/Elliott/Riegelman/Clintsman (not to mention even better combos of the 1990s), but that's some pretty damn stiff competition.

For the record, I did learn alot reading the last few pages!!  A good planned out point with stats to back it up is so much better than trash talk!

Glad we were able to help.  Keep reading the next few weeks as we educate Linfield fans, Mount Union fans, and more--still a lot to be learned!!!

Aren't the playoffs fun?  As I posted above, I think UWW will keep it within 7 points, and I am obviously biased.   Should be a great game.

Go Johnnies!  Go Cobbers!  Go home, Warhawks!

Oh yeah, when I previewed my post, this came up:  "Warning - while you were typing 10 new replies have been posted. You may wish to review your post."  Nice.

Come on, Pat.  You do a hell of a job on here, and we all appreciate that, but that was just wrong.  JOHNNY FANS KNOW THAT WE PLAY SOME WEAK TEAMS.  There, no one is trying defend that.  What I was trying to do was look at the games where we weren't playing Northwestern or Hamline or Carleton or Augsburg and pay attention to the games that were against real competition.  Isn't that what you were getting at in the first place?  If not, please let me know how I was miscomprehending what you said so that we can look at the stats in some meaningful way.

Wow, that looks a lot harsher than a I meant it.  Sorry.
