First off congrats to the Warhawks for the win this weekend at Linfield.

I was looking through the frontpage and seeing how the playoff records have changed this season and was surprised that the WIAC is sub-.500 since the playoffs expanded. I have always held WIAC football in the highest regard (along with my OAC of course) and wondered if someone that knows about the historical playoff information could enlighten me as to the reasons (in their opinion of course) that the WIAC has not fared better in the playoffs. It is just hard to believe that the three wins this year so far but WWW matches the total number of wins the WIAC has had since the playoffs expanded. I look forward to someone's insight and more enlightened opinion on this one.

Best of luck once again on your path towards Salem.

I think alot of it has to do with the fact that the conference games take alot out of the team that advances to the playoffs.  Also since atleast 2000, the WIAC rep had to deal with St. Johns or Linfield in the second round, and those teams have been pretty good

Actually I believe LaCrosse faced Mount Union in the 2nd Round during the 2003 season, otherwise I believe you are correct.

footballfan413, Glad to hear you made it back safe. You must have been on cloud nine the whole time.

Listen to what voice is saying about Wesley, guys. They have to be the real deal to have beaten the teams they have. We had our hands full with that Mary Hardin-Baylor team in the Stagg Bowl last year (and most of their team was back for this season) and Wesley dropped 46 on them in their own house.

Keep it going and don't let up. Let's make it 3 Staggs in a row for the West!
A packed student section behind an end zone cheering on guys they will actually see in class on Monday is almost as cool as The Streak.

I just wanted to congratulate WW on that impressive victory at Linfield...you guys are definately the real deal

It should be a great game when we (Wesley) travel up there...I just hope you guys are a little more classy and respectful than some OTHER fans down south...but they learned there lesson

Well congrats and hopefully we can get some fans out there to try and compete with yours...damn how big is that stadium...lol   Until then

Congrats to the Warhawks!  The best team from the best DIII Conference in the nation!  The Wolverines will have their hands full this weekend, especially playing in front of your huge crowd.  It takes a special team to knock of the defending national champ.  I've seen the WIAC play, and man, you guys got the size and speed to challenge higher levels of play.  Good luck this weekend.  I saw on your website that you are offering "free" tailgating.  That should help some more fans show up for sure!  It'll be a tough one for us.

dedragon-  Don't be fooled by the size of the stadium, the crowd probably won't fill it.  Of course, it'd be REALLY sad if that were the case for a National Semi game.

Good luck to both teams, and GO WEST REGION!

The one thing that mars Whitewater's win is the behavior of their fans, players and coaches. Chants of "overated" coming from the visitor section, coaches and players cursing the ref's and Linfield players.

A few of their coaches were rolling around on the ground in front of our bench after passing through the handshake line. Celebration was expected , but come on UWW you should know better. Act as if you've been there before ... oh yeah you haven't.

Congratulations to the Wildcats. Can't wait for next year.

Man, those are some sour grapes. Let's not be so biased that we pretend Linfield fans are above all that stuff. I was heckled for a long time by some guy who thought I was a Whitewater fan because I was standing behind their banner in the north endzone. Later I heard an outpooring of "colorful" shouts as the ref's tried to make their way to their dressing room under the Linfield grandstand after the game.

RedandPurple,

I know it hurts (I'm crushed) but you just have to take it and move on.

Crowds are crowds and a stupid chant doesn't mean squat.  Their fans seemed like really good people.

It was an EPIC battle and the emotions just ran over at the end.  They pulled off a huge win and I don't think their coaches were dissing anyone but just overjoyed.

Dee,

I know you're not a Whitewater fan and I STILL would have heckled you!

Redland Purple,

I am very suprised that you would say something like that.  After attending the postgame press conference, and talking to numerous fans and Linfield game personnel after the game, never once was your accusations brought up. It was moments after perhaps the most exciting playoff game in D-3 history against a #1 and #2 ranked team in the nation.  I was on the field following the game, and all Warhawk players and coaches went through the handshake line.  Your accusations in no way should diminish the quality of game that was played by the two teams in a stadium where extra security was needed to keep in check the sometime's over-exuberance of a great Linfield crowd.

Chants of "overrated" huh.  That's some serious smack.  LMAO

Now that you've had some practice, losing graciously should come easier next time. ;D

Whitewater did the "overated" chant at the end of the SJU game too.  Sure, it annoyed me.  But, they won.  They deserve to have a little fun.  This is new territory for UWW.  It's good to see some enthusiasum and spirit.  Just wish it didn't have to be at our expense.   :'(

As far as the other stuff, I only heard positive things about the UWW players and coached.
