Yup,

And my Linfield WildCats were playing tough against the run too and the Beaver piled up yards on them.  I suspect Mt. Union may control Beaver for the first quarter or two but as the passing game (mainly the play action) forces them to loosen up the Beaver will break off some bigger runs on his way to another big day!  Good Luck UWW
Go Cats!

Pat,
Looking at his rushing stats through the year, I think it is a guarantee he gets 100+.  The weird thing is, he did not get any P.T. in their first game against st. norbs.  the next game was his lowest output of the season @ 110.  The only way he does not get it is by injury.

Or if MUC chooses to focus on stopping the run and forcing the pass. MUC D is only allowing 80.5 YDS a game.

Oh, please, please, please,   let MUC focus on stopping the run and forcing the pass.........

      Jacobs                    3246 Yards passing
      Stanley                  1229 Yards recieving
      Leszczynski           1124 Yards receiving

And Beaver didn't play in the first game of the season.  Resting a tweeked hamstring from camp.  Still won 47-3 without him.  Too bad, if he had played, he would own that rushing record already!!

I wasn't saying they were going to do that. I was saying that him getting injured was not the only way that he does not get the record, we do know a little bit about playing football over here in OH.

How can a mom who makes pans and pans of brownies for football players have negative karma???  That is just not right!!!! :D :D :D
They just haven't tasted any brownies, I suppose.

Got any "Special" Brownies?

Depends on what you mean by special.  If you mean with illegal ingredients, then no.  But mine don't need that.  They stand on their own merit.  Are you coming in for the big game?

Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

If my memory serves me correct, your Stagg bowl winning teams in 02, and runner up in 03. Could not stop us from getting a 100 yds rushing, and wed were completely one dimensional. Why do you think you could stop a better RB in a better offense? Is this team better then those?  I don't think MUC D is going to be able to stop the UWW Offense.

Olinemom,
We will be at the big game and with all the recommendations from eveyone about the Stone Station tailgate party and your brownies, we definitely plan to stop by.  We tailgated with some terrific Linfield fans who were very kind and fed Bar-B-Que to several WW parents before the game.  Can't wait for the brownies.  Of course, they have a "special" ingredient.  It is called, "CHOCOLATE!!!'  My motto, if is not chocolate, it is not desert!!! ;) ;) ;)  Thanks for the kind invitation and the Hawk support!!  Kudos to O-lineman everywhere!   Without them, nobody goes anywhere!!!

Whitewater 17  MUC  35 is more like it

Game 1 of a 14 game schedule is a lot different than game 14. We also put a "Monkey Stomp" on you both of those years.

So to summarize, if it takes Beaver to get 100+ yds rushing and break the single season rushing record for us to get our 8th Ring, I'll take it.

Uh Oh

That prediction (MU 35 WW17) or the reverse of it (WW35 MU17) reminds me quite a lot of posters predicting the Linfield--UWW game (e.g. MU 28, Linfield 17 or something like that).  Here's the thing:  UWW has a very high powered and balanced offense.  And I do not think they will be held under 20 points.  Mt.  Union has a great defense and a strong offense by all reports (also quite balanced I think).  It has been my observation then when teams like these match up, a lot of points get scored.  It's not that the defenses break down it's just that the offense are so versatile that they can't be held all game.  The other thing is that with these good Defenses more points get scored because of forced turnovers---I know that UWW has scored a lot of points in recent weeks off turnovers (either Defense TDs or TDs set up by turnovers deep in enemy territory).  Anyway, I suspect we'll see a lot of points on Saturday from both teams and the team that wins it will likely be the one with fewest turnovers and penalties.

I will not deny the fact that MU monkey stomped whitewater in 2002 and 2003. However in 2002 there was a story in the papers in Wisconsin that the warhawks beat the point spread which someone placed on the game in Vegas.
Here is a question for the Monekystomp board. If you beat the spread does that negate the monkey stomp?
Grant it I am not sure how many times a year there is a spread on a d3 regular season game. But there was one on the MU vs. UWW game in 2002.
Just wondering.
Finally I know this fact has already been pointed out. However this warhawk team is by far better then the 2002 and 2003 team's Just look at the offense, a record setting QB two record setting Wide receiver's and a RB who is only a junior and hadn't seen any major PT until this year, who will break the NCAA rushing record Saturday.
Not to forget about the hawks defense, but they just get better with every game they have played since coach Borland took over, and this year is no different.
The deciding factor will be turnovers who gets them and more importantly who commits them.
This is the real Stagg bowl, and this is the only one that counts. Win your the champs, lose, and your just another victory for the winning team.
Go Warhawks

badgerwarhawk

Mount Union may or may not be able to take the WARHAWKS, time will tell.  But one thing is certain, quoting a comment I heard recently, "it's going to take more than history."   This isn't 2002 or 2003 and these aren't the same WARHAWKS or Purple Raider.

And I agree completely with d3 when he says "THIS is the real Stagg Bowl."   We want a national championship and we haven't won it yet.  That's the way our guys see it.

I have no doubt in my mind that Beaver will eclipse the rushing record.  It is not if he is going to get it, but which first half quarter it will happen in.  This season the warhawks have broke several records, but they dont mean anything without a National Title to top it all off.  I dont doubt that MUC is a great team and a great franchise, however this is the year of the Hawks.  I cant wait until the game is over and we can celebrate, take a deep breath and look back on the most memorable season in school history.  These men have made several alum, fans and families very proud.  Just think........next year could be just as explosive.  Good Luck in Salem to all!!!

It was just a classic Wooderson line that I couldn't resist.

Yeah, we know you EMALs would never hang out with the likes of the Linfield la crosse team.
Thanks for having such a good memory.

ok seriously, ive noticed a lot of people from mt union saying "we beat years ago and we won a bunch of titles in the past." why is that the stuff that keeps coming up? i would say 75% of the stuff i hear about mt union is about what theyve done before this season. doesnt instill much confidence in your team if you have to go to previous years to come up with good things.

the bottom line is that there are two good teams and it should eb a good game
