As for mount union defensively

First i would not recommend blitzing every down and have 8 in the box as WW has a great line(big reason for Beavers yards) and Jacobs although not a burner on his feet is fairly mobile and has had pretty good success completing passes out of the pocket on roll outs.

Second i would not focus on just the WW passing game either as then Beaver will have a big day.

I would have to say that they have to focus on both run and pass on almost everydown.  That is Mount Unions best chance to be successfull.  Ive heard some talk the last couple weeks from St Johns and Linfield that they will stop WW's offense, and at the beginning of the games they do a fairly good job at doing so but as the game wears on it has become harder for them to do so and our offense opens up.

Should be a great game on Saturday

wildcat11-- Linfield had a great team, but if they were the best, they would not be at home 8)

b4,

fine....I'll just have to settle on Linfield being the 2nd best team in the country.
Nothing wrong with 2nd best. Just like three years ago. :)

And yes, Beaver will get the record.

I don't post much, but on the eve of the Stagg bowl, I thought I would come out of my cave and say something.  I won't ruffle feathers yet; I will wait until after the game!

Congrat's to WW for the unbelievable season (so far).  You have definitely made the WIAC proud!  Now go out and finish the job this weekend.

Haven't seen or heard any of MUC's games, but know the caliber of WW.  Therefore, I predict a 37- 13 win for the winged purple team.

By the way, has anyone heard from Padmofu lately?

I remember him mention one time that he played for UWP.  I think I played ball with him for a few years.  Just don't know his real name.  If anyone knows, it would be interesting to know.

good luck hawks!

One thing is for sure. If the Warhawks win the National Championship, they will have done it right through the front door the hard way.

Winning the WIAC undefeated, having to travel to Linfield, then playing the Mount in the Stagg.

Good luck Warhawks!

So, Mount Union did it through the Back Door because they had "control" of the seeding somehow? Just give it all a rest. You play who they put out against you and if you win it all you are the champ. Good luck to both teams.

Dude,

Chill.  Where did he say Mount would be coming through the backdoor?  If you weren't so defensive you would see he is throwing a compliment to Mount.

Things are getting exciting for you guys at UWW and the WIAC.  I think that's great!  I hope the 7 inches we are supposed to receive today don't come into play at VA on Saturday, but you guys showed you're explosive in the snow last Saturday.
From a MUC perspective.  I think the key is going to be the Defensive Line.  Can they put the pressure on the QB and contain Beaver.  You know you won't be able to stop Justin, but to contain him enough that UWW has to find alternative means of moving the football.  IMO I don't think that's going to happen based upon their undefeated WIAC and overall playoff performances.

To comment on the last post:  I think the mistake people keep making (speaking as a Linfield Fan who made the same mistake) is when they assume that the key to the game is to contain beaver and force UWW to find other ways to move the ball.  It's my observations that UWW can move the ball effectively through other means and will do so whether Beaver is contained or not.  It's very true that Beaver is a key to the UWW offense but the passing game is very good, too.  The real keys to beating UWW, in my opinion, are to with the battle at the line (which of course is easier said than done) and to hold onto the ball on offense (and I mean hold onto the ball---don't let them strip it from you).  In the Linfield game, the Wildcats started out pretty strong on defense including getting good penetration through the line.  However, costly penalties in the first few series and UWW tenacity in forcing turnovers ended up being the difference.  I'm looking forward to the game and am rooting for UWW to give us one more near-perfect performance (don't have numbers in front of me but I believe the mistakes made by UWW in the playoffs has been very minimal <e.g. low turnovers and very few penalties>)

We had way too many penalties in our first two games against Central and St John, 9 or 10 and in both games and it cost us touchdowns.  Against Linfield we cleaned up our act and had a season low 3 penalties for 24 yards.  However against Wesley we once again had double digit penalties, 10, lost a touchdown and contributed to Wesley's only score because of them .  But, once again, it was a blow out so you didn't notice them

Penalties have been an issue all season imo but we've been winning despite them.  We've just been lucky enough to have a strong enough offense and defense that we've overcome them.

Outside of the LaCrosse game turnovers haven't been that much of an issue all season.

Lighten up kirasdad. I took nothing away from Mount. Obviously, I was giving them credit. Tons of it.

The only mistake in my post is that I should have included the Warhawks playing St. Johns as part of the "front door"   as well.
