Given two "equal" teams, better coaching will definitely give one a better chance of winning. These are not equal teams. IMHO WW is much better. Don't take my word for it, we will see Saturday, when the players show us what they got. Face it Mount, WW is not afraid of you. They were not intimidated by the top notch teams they have played thus far, they are not going to start now.

Again, safe travels to all.

I'll tell you what I like seeing.  The WIAC at .500 in the playoffs.  I am very thankful of WW taking us there.  Of course, if this is the XXXIII Stagg Bowl, this is not what the playoff record really is.
I may not have much to say, but I'll say it anyway.

One thing is for sure. If the Warhawks win the National Championship, they will have done it right through the front door the hard way.

Winning the WIAC undefeated, having to travel to Linfield, then playing the Mount in the Stagg.

Good luck Warhawks!

So, Mount Union did it through the Back Door because they had "control" of the seeding somehow? Just give it all a rest. You play who they put out against you and if you win it all you are the champ. Good luck to both teams.

No one ever said Mount Union took the "Back Door" on their journey.  Everyone on this board obviously puts a little faith into the brainpower behind d3football.com, otherwise we wouldn't come onto this website as often as we all do.  With that said, UWW did take the hardest path thus far.  D3football had Linfield #1 and St. Johns #3.  Just considering those two games alone, that makes it the hardest path in my opinion, and pretty much everyone elses who has a decent head on their shoulders.  And while we're speaking of "Back Door", I  think the Warhawks will make have the Raiders grabbing their ankles on Saturday.

We had way too many penalties in our first two games against Central and St John, 9 or 10 and in both games and it cost us touchdowns.  Against Linfield we cleaned up our act and had a season low 3 penalties for 24 yards.  However against Wesley we once again had double digit penalties, 10, lost a touchdown and contributed to Wesley's only score because of them .  But, once again, it was a blow out so you didn't notice them

Penalties have been an issue all season imo but we've been winning despite them.  We've just been lucky enough to have a strong enough offense and defense that we've overcome them.

Outside of the LaCrosse game turnovers haven't been that much of an issue all season.

To further comment on this issue....I've spoken to a few of the UWW players about this.  As a former player, we always knew the importance of penalties and the free yards that you just can't give out.  The o-linemen that I talked to had a very interesting comment on that, and it was something that I've never heard from anyone who ever played football as a player, but I felt what he was saying and believed what he said to be true.  He told me that everytime UWW gets penalized, the team takes it very personally, and it's own weird way, everyone on the field feeds off of those penalties on the next play.  Penalites creating momentum?......strange but seems to be true.  It's hard to argue 14 - 0.

Olinemom,
Just got word that the Hawks have landed safely in VA.  Guess the idea of moving up the departure time from 7:00 to 4:00 was a good one.  All warhawks safe and accounted for! Safe travels to the rest of us!!

Sho' nuff Duffman.....I played from 2000 - 2003.  I've been to your pad before, and although the atmosphere at your home field is quite simply awesome (not Lambeau Field awesome, but DIII awesome), I came away with a bad taste.

Pretty much a waste of a post. Kirasdad is running out of comebacks.

Glad to hear they landed safely.

If Whitewater wins and we don't go back to the Stagg until 20 years from now, can we bring up this year's win and ask how we can be the underdogs? I mean come on, the 2005 champs the underdogs in 2025?

There goes my karma.

Yay for tailgaiting!

See you Saturday.  I'll be the one in maroon and gold from head to toe, but thinking purple!!!!  I'll have an eagle on my cheek, but he'll be thinking that he's a Warhawk and be chirping right along in purple chirps.  Come by before the game and visit!!  Safe trip through all the muck.  Thank God they are safe.  I'm glad they left early.  That is welcome news.  Thanks for letting me know.  Now I can grade papers and half-way concentrate--not all the way as it is the Stagg Bowl Week.  There are priorities!!  Llamaguy says our tickets are on the 50 yd line up near the Press box to shield us  from the wind.  Attention, wind has often been a problem so dress accordingly.  Yes, I know you are from the Wisconsin tundra, but just bring layers anyway.  ;D ;D  Don't you just love football?  It makes all the other stuff one has to do to get through normal days worthwhile!  But after Saturday, it's how many days until it starts again.  I', sure Bob Gregg knows down to the minute.  See you soon!!

Cool, I played against you my senior year.  What did you play?  I played d-tackle.

Yay for tailgaiting!

Speaking of, are you coming to the big game and are you ready for some tailgating?  Because it is a great deal of fun down in the parking lot of Salem. As we say in the South.  You sho' nuff com' on down, ya heah.   I'm not too good at dialect.  I come from the mountains and speak Page County but I tried.  You can't miss this opportunity to see your team play for the Walnut and Bronze, surely. (Yes, I thought I might try a little guilt.  After all, the last part of the name is Mom)  Hope to see many many people from WW.  I know there will be scads of people, including Kirasdad coming from Alliance.  Let's balance out so that each side has plenty of spectators!!

GO WARHAWKS, she chirped in purple

lilpeds-Tradition means nothing if you don't have any, but football is a very emotional game where pride and tradition make lesser teams rise up and beat superior teams. Please don't try to tell Notre Dame, Ohio State, Army, Navy, Alabama or USC that tradition means nothing. Your lack of knowledge of the game of football is showing.

Ah Grasshopper, you have much to learn.

BTW If WW puts up 35 and loses by 13, what does that say about Linfield
???

They haven't yet checked into the hotel.  I imagine it takes time to get all the bags and equipment off the plane.  But I am going to check again later.
