...and there ARE rules about it.  I am glad nothing was called because it was not worthy of influencing the game.

For what its worth,

I was on the sidelines taking photos during the entire ballgame.  The MUC students that were not seated, but were standing behind the fence in the corner of the endzone (opposite end field from scoreboard) were totally inappropriate during the entire ballgame.  They were yelling vulgaities the entire ballgame, not only at WW players, but also at the officials.  One official even commented to me about the situation.  Did it take away from my enjoyment of the game.  Not in the least. The best team won, but with that said, it was one of the most exciting Stagg Bowls in its history.  Not my words, but words from the people that run the event.  I'm proud to say that I was fortunate to be part of the excitement.  WW left it on the field during their dramatic 4th quarter comeback.

I also had the opportunity to do a 10 minute one-on-one interview with Coach Kehres on Thursday.  He is a man of great class, and it was a privlidge to have the unique opportunity.

Please explain to me why a Linfield guy and a St Noberts guy are off on this absurd topic about a Mount Union player on the WIAC board? Searching for support? I think the fans on this board are showing you they have more class than that. Let's talk football, not personal prejudices.

Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

I just wanted to congratulate Beaver on breaking a rushing record that took him 15 games to break while the original record was set in just 10.

First of all, he did it in 14 games. Second of all, can you give the kid credit? I'm sure if you were ever in front of him this season, he ran you over. Plus, with some of the great defenses he played against this year (MUC, SJU, Linfield, Stout), it's a big acomplishment...as a SOPHOMORE. Give him credit where credit is due. You wouldn't even come close to this kind of record.

Bridgewater fan, I am not a UWW, WIAC, MUC or OAC fan. I just said what I saw on TV was a display that took away from his team's performance. I'm sorry you don't agree.

Two things.

1) A St. Norbert fan should not be talking about a star player's on-field gestures.
2) I believe Coach Kehres had a discussion with Pierre Garcon regarding such during the game and I am sure he disapproved.

Greg,
Your last post left me even more confused on why as a apparent D3 "Fan" you would single out a player and call him a "dweeb".   Assuming you are a D3 "Fan"  I would assume that you understand the excitement of playing for a national title after a month of playoff games.   I fail to see the point of your post in pointing out 1 players action, it is neither constructive or relevant to the discussion that was taking place on this board.   Why  point out one players actions?  It makes no sense.. honestly,  a touchdown celebration has NO impact on ANY game.   ???  I may not have enjoyed my little league players celebrating and I corrected them, but on the other hand I understood their excitement of doing something great during a GAME.  What's your point?  Do you have something against MUC? The #1?   Are you bitter you never played in a national title game?  That Linfield/St. Norbert didn't win it all this year?  What is your motive?  I don't understand why anyone would call out a KIDS behavior when it is all based off of excitement!  ::)  Like Pat said, the coaches handled the situation,  "fans" don't need to call ANY player a "dweeb" for his excitement of playing football in my opinion.  Let the coaches decide what is acceptable on the field.

Matt Barnhart (kid)

I just wanted to say 'thank you' to those Whitewater fans who came by "Stone Station" (the Bridgewater-hosted tailgate w/ the chicken and fire pit) at the Stagg Bowl.  It was great to meet many of you (I was the one wearing the #1 Bridgewater jersey).  Very classy group of folks!

Excellent season Warhawks.  You guys should again be scary next season!

Students/fans from every school do that.  I was on the sidelines as well, and when on the Whitewater side, the group of students on the first couple rows of the stands would chant using expletives.  To their credit, they were asked to stop by a Salem staff person standing near me, and they did.

But yeah, cursing by a handful of students/fans at a football game (or any sport for that matter) is not unique to any particular school.

It's odd that post-season stats count towards records.  I would have thought all records were kept for the regualr season only.   Beavers did a great job none the less!

Give it a rest, Pat. And a national media hack shouldn't tell me about St. Norbert football either, but I often read and reserve judgement.

When we're attacked and called classless I don't see the problem in pointing out the fact that the pot is calling the kettle black.   I did think it was funny though.  Hscoach telling us to act like we've been there before if there's a next time when MU has been there 13 times and some still haven't got it straight.  ;D   Like I said, hscoach needs climb down from the high and mighty horse and quit generalizing the actions of the minority as those of a team's fan base.   Drunk college kids can act like idiots, and regrettably often do, whether they're from Wisconsin or Ohio.

You can put Beaver's season rushing record in perspective when you take into account that he would have been our back up running back if weren't for a medical condition ending the starter's career.  The kid gets his chance, he seizes it and ends up not only leading the nation in rushing but also establishes a new D3 rushing record in the process.   Many accomplish far, far less when opportunity knocks.

Pat, why can't the fan of another team talk about a player's gestures?  I don't really understand where you're coming from with that one.  Aren't they entitled to their opinion and isn't this the place they're encouraged to express it?   Not that I thought the receivers reaction outrageous or unique.   In fact, I never even noticed it.

True about Beaver, except that he was the starter over Burns last year until he tore his hamstring. In fact, he was going to play as a true freshman but decided to redshirt because of Wurth at RB (whose record Beaver crushed at UWW). Either way it was a heck of a season. Knowing him and seeing him play throughout HS and college, I can't say I'm too surprised he did this, but maybe  a little surprised he did it this early.

No offense, Greg, but you're the pot calling the kettle black on this. I don't think you have much of a moral leg to stand on. You might want to work on your anger issues. Might someday get reflected in your karma.

Badgerwarhawk, ask the Johnnie fans what St. Norbert player gesture I'm referring to. It's a lot more serious than gesturing for No. 1 ... although it uses a similar number of fingers. Considering that, I felt it was somewhat ironic that he would choose to single out a gesture of celebration.

I believe he is kind of using your "pot calling the kettle black" saying in regards to a certain former St. Norbert's football player (Seth Schussler-TE) who was infamous for doing the same thing, and the St. Norbert fans didn't have a problem with it then.

I don't want to speak for Pat, as I may be wrong, but I think I'm at least pretty close if not correct.

Here is a story I was able to dig up:

St. Norbert tight end Seth Schussler, a 6-foot-4, 240-pound sophomore, had six catches for 158 yards, including a 50-yard reception to help set up a 27-yard field goal in the second quarter.

But he also was flagged for taunting in the first half and spent the day jawing with many Johnnies defenders.

"That was just intensity," said Schussler, who also made an obscene gesture toward the St. John's sideline in response to heckling from some fans late in the fourth quarter. "They had a lot of fans who were jawing at us and we heard that
