Well. I am in d3football withdrawal.  I tried to watch the game the other night on TV  Utep and somebody.  Couldn't get interested.  It's bad!!  I probably need to invest in a video of this year's Stagg Bowl and perhaps the Linfield-UW-WW game.  Anybody have any idea where to get those? It's going to be a looooong off-season --at least until baseball gets here.  I know, I'll make desserts for the BC Eagle Club and it's great. But it's not the same!!
I've managed to wrap one, exactly one present and bake 2 cakes, one for each of my Luray brothers' families.  Tree still in closet.
It sure was a fun time last Saturday!  I enjoyed meeting all the posters from WW and MUC.  I think the tailgating was great fun.   Props to Llama and Skoal for leading the way and to d3fotball.com because that is how we all got together and had a great time in fellowship & friendship about football.  Ah, I'm beginning to feel better, Tinkerbell is that you?  When I leave for the sticks tomorrow, I will have no access to computers until I get back.  But when you get back from feasting and opening that box of socks, ties, shirts and other unmentionables, give us a post re those videos if you can!!  Gotta go! Love and e-brownies to all!  (The kind that are full of e-chocolate, of course!)

Olinemom,

WHITEWATER[/color] will be selling DVDs of both the Linfield and Stagg Bowl games.  They aren't available yet but should be fairly soon.  I'll keep you in mind and let you know when they are.

That should get you an e-brownie and a couple e-cookies to boot, BW.  :)

That would be fantastic, Badgerwarhawk.  Please do keep me in mind.  I wouldn't mind having the WW-Wesley game as well, but they may not be doing that one.  Let me know!!!  Yeah e-brownies and e-cookies, e-cakes, e-lasagna,  whatever I can cook!!

UW Oshkosh Tight End Bob Docherty (Oshkosh North) has been named as a member of the West Squad in the 60th Annual All Star Game.  The West Squad will be coached by Tyrone Willingham, University of Washington Head Coach.  Docherty is only the 2nd WIAC Player to ever play in the Hula Bowl, joining UW Whitewater DB Trey Bell who played last season.

Here's a link:

I remember someone mentioning that there must be a lack of talent at the TE position this year for Docherty to make the Aztec Bowl.  The talent level must be low at the D1 and D2 levels as well for Docherty to make the Hula Bowl I guess. ::)

my guess is you'll see docherty get drafted, even with his "lack of talent"

Doubt it. Elliot from STJ didn't get drafted and neither did Arth, Adamson or Kern from the OAC a couple of years ago. Brett Elliot probably has the best chance because he did start at Utah, but he is probably a long shot at getting drafted as well. Best chance is to get signed as a free agent, make some noise in the spring camps and hope to get invited in August.

It may not be a longshot. I seem to recall Bob Docherty starting at TE for the Badgers before getting injured.

Happy Holidays to all and I hope Santa was good to everybody.  I was going to ask:  What's the furthest ( in the playoffs) a WIAC/CCIW game has been played?

In the NCAA playoffs, I believe it was 1983 when Augustana beat La Crosse 21-15 in the semifinals. I'm not sure about any NAIA playoff games.

WSUFan, thanks... yes I remember the 1983 Augie/UWL  game.  That was during Augie's Bob Reade Nat'l Championships era and UW-LaCrosse scared the you know what out of Augie.  The eagles almost upset Augie who didn't lose a game in 4 years.  The closest they came to a loss was vs. us (Elmhurst) in a 0-0 tie.

If you check out the warhawkfootbal.com guest book several players from Whitewater have voiced their opnion about Docherty making the big time bowl game.
I am not sure how good he is as I haven't seen him play as of lately. However for whatever reason he has been picked to play in a division one all star game. Whether he sucks or not thats a honor none the less. Let's hope he represents our league and all of division three well.

I am not going to defend the players responses as they were not very politically correct but maybe a little understandable.  Your shoutout to Docherty was done on the Warhawk website instead of here on the WIAC board where it could have been considered more appropriate.  You brought it to this board only when you wanted to point out a few players responses.  Your point about the entire WIAC supporting Docherty is a very good one and very true but I think that some Hawks responses on their own site pointing out that there are a few Sr. Hawks that could have been considered better choices can't be a total surprise given their success this year.  They are a team first and formost and will support their own always whether right or wrong.  Congrat to all three of the D-3 players who were selected for the terriffic honor.  Correct me if I am wrong and Pat would probably be a good source for this but isn't the Aztec and the Hula bowl meant for graduating seniors who would not have high draft  potential to have a way to showcase their talents to the NFL.  Therefore, they would be chosen on many criteria such as size, speed and who best fits the "NFL mold,"   not just who had a successful college career  in terms of stats or who played on the most successful team?

Pat Coleman

Sure. But players already know that, don't they?

You are right.  I am sure that most if not all already know that.   Let's not forget the old stand by, "politics."  That always plays a part in award selection processes!
