Wow!!!  This karma thing is really confusing.  The last time I posted, I had a 3 karma number .  When I just posted again, it has dropped to a -4 and I haven't posted anything negative in months!!  Somebody out there doesn't like me, LOL!!!!!  :-* :-* :-* :-*

Some people in the MIAC and NWC have nothing better to do than to smite people who post with differing opinions.

Glaser has done quite well at Marietta. He's 11-9 in two seasons after inheriting a team that went 12-38 over the previous five years.

Hoffner went to undergrad at Valley City State University and was a Graduate Assistant at North Dakota, so he's used to the wintery weather of the the Dakota's.

Interesting that he takes the position vacated by his former offensive coordinator at UWEC, Glenn Caruso, who is now the head coach at Macalaster College.

If he lived in ND than he will have no problem with South Dakota.  SD can be down right balmy compared to our conterparts in the North!!!  LOL!   ;) ;)

Thanks, Pat.  I will try not to take it personally but that is where the confusing part came in.  I can handle being smited for my "opinions" but my limited postings in the last 6 weeks have included donating money to the "Linfield Band Cause," and making copies of the championship game for Olinemom.  Don't see how either could ruffle any feathers!!!  LOL!  Oh well.   I will trust Olinemom to keep up the counterbalance with good karma for me!!!    :D :D

Congratulations to Coach Hoffner on his new position and congratulations to USD on their great new hire!  I was born and raised in South Dakota and I am an alumnus of USD so I can safely say that he will hate the winters, (can be tougher than Wisconsin,) and love the dome stadium!!!    ;D ;D
                            GO YOTES!!!!!
You slipped under zero again so I karmalized ya!!  South Dakota--it sounds way too cold to live there.  But I'm in favor of a domed stadium, preferably with heat.    How's the gymnastics coming?

Here is the thing about LaBuda: he wasn't officially offered the UWEC job when Nielsen was hired, but was the front-runner. When EC and Stout offered him their job, he always made huge demands...when Stout offered him the job, he demanded that all of the remaining assistants be fired so he could bring his own people in and demanded a salary at least 15K higher than what Stout ended up paying Strop. When EC approached him, he demanded a whole bunch of $$ be put into facilities improvements -- more than they were willing to commit to. Unless he has changed his ways in that regard, I doubt EC will end up hiring him.

I wonder if Glaser will apply -- if he does, he would have to be considered the front-runner. It's too bad Caruso isn't available: I always thought he would make an excellent HC.

I'd really like to see La Buda get the position.  Would be an interesting reunion with Sipple as DC (Menomonie alum and coached at MHS while in college), as well as LaBuda's former DC at MHS Dave Decker.

Interestingly, all those upgrades in facilities that Joe wanted all occurred, Football offices, Locker room upgrades, Carson upgrades.  I'm guessing it will come down if EC can pony up the money (which will be questionable, they are pretty tight around there)

I'm thinking if you get the money up in that range you would get a few more really good applicants, ones you would prefer over him.

Thanks for the karma boost, Omom!!  I actually didn't like having the dome stadium on many occassions.  To me, there is no better place to be than in the stands watching college football on a beautiful, warm, Fall day! But, when you need it, you need it, especially in SD, LOL!!

Gymnastics is good!  Regionals is tomorrow night so team needs to make a great showing!  They won it last year so need to defend their title!  I have the copy of the Stagg Bowl ready but still waiting to put together the other two items we discussed. Won't be able to mail the package for atleast a week but you'll get it all as soon as I can get it put together!

You're welcome for the Karma!  Thanks for working on the videos!   I'll be thinking positive thoughts tomorrow night for the Regionals.

Do you think that Caruso, with his new "awful" (but his pay is $80,000) job might change his mind and apply at EC?

Glaser - He's got a pretty good gig at Marietta, good pay, good facilities, tough conference.  He is an EC alum.  His DC Tony Jennison was a volunteer coach at EC prior to Marietta and UW-La Crosse alum (his wife from Menomonie).  His OC Curt Weise was O-line coach for Hoffner for 2 years.  So lots of ties to Eau Claire.

Caruso - Eau Claire obviously a much better job than Macalaster, but not sure EC would be able to match $80k (Hoffner was at $54K).  His reputation would take a big hit if his stay at Mac only lasted 3-4 months.  How long would he stay?  EC - 1 year.  SD - 2 years.  Mac - ??

This has the potential to be a very strong candidate pool.

WiacFan.  The one thing that I would add to that "Strong candidate pool", and I agree by the way, is that the EC administration better be prepared to be a bit more supportive of their next head coach.  If you heard Coach Hoffner on our "Western Wisconsin Sports Saturday" show on Sat., he did not mince any words about what he perceived as lack of support from his administration.
