WIAC FAN,
You have to remmeber that the warhawks greatly welcomed Jason Boelhke from UW Oshkosh after he got in a fight in all palces Whitewater summer of 2004,and then got kicked off the team at UW Oshkosh.
I know that Mr. Stanley is in a much different situation. However I am sure that they would welcome him with open arms.
Also in the past couple of years Whitewater football players ahe had their fair share of run ins with the law as well. The downtwon brawl of 2003.

WW posters,

Isn't Rob Widuch a senior??He has a year of football remaining??How does that happen??Bad news for the rest of the WIAC if he's back....

WarhawkBadger,

I'm pretty confident that every team in the WIAC has some players with a disorderly conduct (or other similar offenses), but you get into the sexual assaults / reckless endangerment charges, you're in a whole new league.  Badgerwarhawk is dead-on, this kid needs to get his life straightened out before playing football again.  College football isn't a right, it's a privilege; IMHO he's lost that privilege for now.

Why Can't Booker play at WW?

Other than the obvious legal problems?

Can a kid go from D1 to D3?

I think that WW could thrive at WW.  He has some friends down there and would/could stay out of trouble.  WW loves giving kids a second chances.

Yes, a player can transfer from D1 to D3 so he could play at WHITEWATER[/color] but it isn't going to happen.   He's carrying way too much baggage and there has already been contact between the two parties and a decision made.  Warhawkbadger, nice, is mistaken about the open arms thing.

It stands to reason that he has friends in Madison too.   Yet that did little to keep him out of trouble.

Widuch was a senior but he has a year of athletic eligibility remaining.  I'm sorry I don't know how that happened but it is the case.  Originally I had heard from one of the staff that he would not be returning but last night I spoke with them again and they indicated that he was.  That is excellent news but we've still got to come up with some defensive backs.

The word is, at least on the offensive side of the ball, that recruiting is going very well in the skill positions.  Several good running backs and wide outs have committed.  Evidently there has even been a D1 backup QB who has expressed an interest in playing here though  with Jacobs returning we might not be a good fit for him.

However the one thing I've learned about recruits at this level is that you don't count on them until you see them in pads on the opening day of practice.

Booker Stanley coming to Whitewater would be nothing but bad news. Team chemistry would be destroyed. Think Terrell Owens.

Great news about Widuch coming back. Maybe he could work toward a graduate degree (like an MBA or something) and not take ballroom dancing like Matt Leinert did  ;D

I have an MBA from UWW myself. Excellent education.

The schedule for the 2006 Warhawk season will be released on their website tomorrow.  Their homecoming is going to be October 13th versus UW-La Crosse.  Hawks and Eagles, I can't get enough of this match-up.  I think it makes Duke and North Carolina look like Brokeback Mountain.

So is the rumor true that we are playing Mary-Hardin Baylor as a non-conference game?

hawkshawkshawks

Booker wouldn't do anything to team chemistry, the TO reference is a joke, be he would be an instant all american.

POUNDTHEROCK

I agree, that Booker is nothing like TO.
Booker has legal problems. While TO just has problems.
I think someone in the WIAC is going to get him,and it might as well be the warhawks, as he is a difference maker on the fild. Unfortunately with Cahoun he didn't get as much playing time as he would have without him.
Whether that would have prevented the off the field problems. We will never know. I can imagine he and beaver in the backfield, that would be scary.

Do you mean Barry Alvarez?!?   ;)

Do you think Caruso would after accepting the Macalester job?  Eau Claire would be a much better situation for him, but hard to leave Macalester when he just arrived......

CaptainKurt

Uhhhh, O'Reilly, did you just create anothe screen name for yourself?  I'm thinking that you did.

Just out of curiousity, to the posters here who played D3 football...

Regarding the UWEC coaching vacancy... I see the list doesn't include Joe LaBuda again... But I am wondering, if you were a junior, or a senior going off to college next year, how much of a factor would the coach be in where to go?

Someone like LaBuda has won a lot; most high school kids probably know his name. He's won at the high school level, but is taking a step up to a higher level, where one might expect growing pains in the first season or two? Granted, most freshman don't start, but it might take a season or two for the new coach to get things rolling...

Also, how much of a factor do the returning starters have on a decision, too? And, high school teammates, too? How do the facitilities play into the equation?

EC has had a decent team during the Hoffner years, and
great facilities, so there is a bit of recent success and tradition there... But how much will a new coach factor into that decision???

I didn't play D3 sports, so I am just curious how players make their decisions on where to go???
