La Crosse is always tough year after year but I think the overtime last year was our fault.  I agree with you, Sakman1111, about the snapping problem. Also, UWW started the 4th quarter ahead 23-9 but seemed to offensively go into "prevent mode," primarily running the ball instead of being aggressive and continuing with the balanced attack.  It ended up being closer than it needed to be IMHO.  Don't think that mistake was made again after that game.  We can count on a game from them again this year, I am sure.  This is definitely a harder schedule for the Hawks.  Not only MHB at their field in a big road trip but Azusa Pacific will be a challenge as well as they finished the year at 9th in the NAIA and as always they must navigate the Wacky WIAC.....

Wow!  The Warhawks fans are primed and ready for 2006.  Great props to U-Dub-Dub for having four preseason D3football.com  All-American selections.  Its that POSTSEASON All-American list that reflects the body of work over the upcoming season.  As far as Derek Stanley is concerned... I have had the opportunity to watch him improve over his career at UWW.  He IS the real deal, probably a better athlete than any wide receiver playing up the road in Madison this year.

But if I were thinking WIAC, and I was about a week ago, when I saw UWSP's schedule, I'd comment on the Pointers' schedule...

What the heck. I'll talk football. Ha. Only three home games? If they were to make the playoffs (I don't foresee that, though) at least they will have been road tested.

Interesting to see that they get La Crosse for the Spud Bowl. If memory serves me correctly, they usually schedule a non-conference team, or a cupcake, for that one...

Guess it's the "odd" year of those home and home series!  Last year, Point played Hardin-Simmons and Waldorf at home.  Sure, with a conference schedule the WIAC offers, you always try to schedule cupcakes once in awhile, though playing Hardin-Simmons and Linfield last year hardly qualifies.  I commend the staff for scheduling such great games.

The last three years, the Spud Bowl has been Waldorf, Tri-State, IN and Butler.  I think Waldorf is D2 and Butler is D1-AA, though I could totally be wrong as well! lol.  On paper, that sounds good, but yeah, we destroyed them.  For the record, all three of those games were parts of home and home series, so its not like we invited them to the Spud Bowl, spanked them and said "Adios!"  ;D

Waldorf is unaffiliated, I believe. I think this might be their third year since leaving the juco ranks.

Just looking for Kubiak.....you ready for another season. Hope to meet you guy's in the playoffs this year again. Hopefully it will be in collegeville so you will be able to experience why sju is #1 in dIII attendance.

I believe that even though the Johnnie Nation had to travel to the Perk last year, they already proved why they are #1 in attendance.......I have never seen the visiters bench sooooo full of fans........If that is how they travel, I can only imagine what the homes side looks like in Collegeville...... :)

would be nice for the hawks to play up at the Johnnies place again, too bad it isn't very likely this next year with the hawks likely going 10-0 again, baring major injuries.  Amazing place 2 play though.

I have to admit though I don't ever want to see Linfield having to play the Johnnies in Collegeville, I would love to see a Johnnie's game there some time.  The Johnnies fans passion is damn hard to top anywhere in DIII land, and I'm a diehard Linfield fan.

Congratulations to Whitewater for having 4 Preseason All Americans.  You guys proved at our expense how great you were last year and it looks like you will not be skipping a beat at all this year.  Go Warhawks.

What a terrific comment to make, CamCat, and ending with a Go Warhawks....I am really impressed!  I sense that the Cats will not be skipping much of a beat either.  Hard to replace a Brett Elliot or a Jay Locey but I am beginning to believe that, "Cats don't rebuild, they just RELOAD," thing!   :)

Alright, let's stop all the hugs and kisses.  It's about time to draw the lines.  Yep, SJU draws more than half of DI, mabey more.  As a WIAC follower, let's just hope the West region goes through Wisconsin.  As for Linfield, an unproven QB, enough said.  We will know after game 2 if it's Cat Nation as usual.   My heart goes out to Stout.  Especially for Wendt, Runk, and Weinstein.  Hope the three can finish their career with an injury free year.
I may not have much to say, but I'll say it anyway.

Is that Robert Weinstein??  You've got to be kidding me.  Anyone who graduated high school in 1999 shouldn't be allowed to play college football anymore.  This somehow would be his 7th year of college if this is who Pastprime is referring to.

It appears so.  After checking, it appears he was a red-shirt in 99, and received a medical redshirt in 01.  He did not play in 03 for some reason, then, in 04, he was an assistant coach, only to return in 05.  Therefore, the years that count toward eligibility would be 00, 02, 05, and now again this year.  Could someone certify this assumption?  I went by the 2006 profile page.

One quick question.  Stout lists his 2001 stats on there page.  If he received a medical redshirt for that year, are the stats still counted toward his career totals, or are these stats disregarded?  Just wondering.

wiacfbgrad, I think you pretty well nailed the calendar of events for Rob W.

CK, while it's true that he has been out of high school for 7 years, he has been through 2 major knee injuries ('01-'03) and kept going.

He didn't play in '04 because his knee wasn't ready yet from the second injury.

So, give the guy a little credit for persistance. Heck, I know plenty of guys that took 7 years to get through college!  ;)

badgerwarhawk

If he's got eligibility left then he should be allowed to use it regardless of his age or when he graduated from high school imo.   There have been many other players in the WIAC who have competed at an age older than the typical 18-22 year olds.
