Good news about the NCAA expanding their definition of regional games.  Makes the UWW/Mary Hardin Baylor an "in-region" game.

As for the question regarding Roeker, I visited with Coach Sipple at the end of July and he mentioned that Jared was back in school and working out with the team, so I would expect him to be in uniform this year.

I expect UWEC to suprise some people this season, I see lots of mention of "new coach" etc... it's not like Glaser is new to the conference, he played and coached for many years in the WIAC, he very familiar with the conference schools.

I think its a little more then just a new coach at EC for lower expectations.

I believe its the new backfield they are getting, and when teams like Whitewater, Oshkosh, Stout, La Crosse are bringing back major parts of their offensive backfield is the biggest reason in my mind why they have the playoffs in their vision, and EC does not.

Who knows, maybe Eau Claire with a new coach comes up with a new scheme that sweeps the WIAC by storm.

Maybe like a zone offense. Oh wait...someone has that already?  (By the way, I know what Zone blocking is, but what's a zone offense? Is it handing the ball to Anderson and he has the option of what hole he wants to run through? If so, that's pretty cool, I bet that's succesful in video games.)

The WARHAWKS will scrimmage Elmhurst College in Perkins Stadium this Saturday at 2:30pm.  The afternoon will include a scripted scrimmage and a half game, live clock.

The defense should be one of if not the best in the WIAC depending on the replacement of the only two players gone, Sikora and Tieri.  With the addition of Roeker(if he is coming back) that front 7 is really really good.  It does say (on the website) that Sipple will remain at DC, but don't think for a second that Glaser won't be hands on with the D.  The last time the EC defense was dominate was when Glaser was there, he seems to have the Johnnies number and gets the D ready for that game better then most coaches.

They're going to have to work really hard to be better than this defense!   8) 8) 8)

"Playing in the top-rated NCAA Division III football conference, the Warhawks finished No. 1 in the WIAC in points allowed per game. When you take a closer look at Brian Borland's defense that gave up just 16.3 points per game, you realize that the statistic is for its entire 15 games. That schedule includes playoff wins over the 2003 and 2004 NCAA Division III national champions (St. Johns and Linfield)."

Captain let's take it easy......some of what people consider the impact players will not be participating in the scrimmage.....consequently 70-0 might be a littlle over the top.....

Today's weather report

Weather for Abilene, Texas
100°F
Partly Cloudy
Wind: S at 9 mph
Humidity: 26%

Weather for Steven Point, Wisconsin
Mostly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the lower 70s. Wind: East 10 to 15 mph.
Humidity: 73%

Is the heat going to be a factor in the HSU / Stevens Point game next week?

badgerwarhawk

I suppose that depends on the temperature next week and not today.  I've always thought the humidity was more of a factor than the actual temperature.   26% humidity is nothing compared to what they've been practicing in.  The lower 70's for a high is an exception to the hot weather we've had the past few weeks.  Couple that with humidity in the 60% range and you've got yourself one miserable enviroment to play football in.

Plus I noticed the game was scheduled for 6pm and assume the temp has dropped some by that time of the day.

Humidity is a booger bear!  Your right about that.  Not much in Abilene just flat out heat.  It is still in the upper 90's at 10:00 here.  It will be in the upper 90's to 100 when the kick off gets under way.  I remember one year when Philly was playing the Dallas Cowboys the Eagles drank pickle juice to avoid heat related cramps and such.

I wonder if that is on the menu?  I can't wait to get this thing going.  Very excited for the season to start!  I hope some folks make the trip to Abilene for the game.
