What is sad ,about the Lacrosse player being  found dead, is that it is being linked to many other students who have also fallen into the River and died. They are all men of college age.It is both a personal tragedy and a city one. Many people feel a killer is out and about. I do not know, but some actions of prevention and law enforcement needs to be done ASAP!God Bless all of you, and pray for the victims family!

Thoughts and prayers to the Homan family.  What a terrible tragedy.

Made me sink in my chair as I read that post.

It is, indeed, a tragedy.

The  bars in La Crosse's downtown are about three blocks from the river.  The amazing thing to me is that someone doesn't wind up in it every weekend.

The city has had a task force looking at issues related to preventing these incidents.  Many of their recommendations have been implemented.  It is a complex problem and not easy to solve, IMO.

I am so sorry for the Homan family and the La Crosse family.

My condolences go out to the Homans, the Eagle's basketball team, and the La Crosse community.

There really have been so many of these over the years in La Crosse, and it really makes you wonder if some foul play is at work.  Stevens Point's downtown as just as close to the Wisconsin as La Crosse's are to the Mississippi, and yet Point has not had these same tragedies.

Perhaps.  One of the things we are looking at is the loading dock in Riverside Park.  We are trying to make it harder to enter on foot.

The Kansas City Chief have announced that they will continue to train at UW-River Falls next year, their 16th season on the campus.   River Falls beat out St Joseph and Missouri Western State University who also submitted bids and has an option on 2008 though the Chief have indicated they are open to bids from other locations.

Congrats RF.

UWRF Archives has game film dating back to 1952.  Complete WIAC/WSUC schedules are available from 1970 to the present.  About 20 games have already been transcribed to a DVD format. If you have relatives or friends who played in the the days of old, email me if interested in securing copies of their games or if you would like more details.

(Sorry, Pat, if this violates some codes of the site. The film is property of the State of Wisconsin and all monies go to UWRF general fund. This is a nonprofit, break-even proposition, as well as an attempt to preserve these historical documents for posterity.)

UWRF Website and SID are among the best, they are first class. The tentative BAC on Luke Holman is in. It was .32, 4 times the legal limit. please counsel all young people of the sobering consequences of the abuse of alcohol!

For those who don't know, Luke Homan's body was found in the river by police. Please keep his family in your prayers.

That's terroble.  I will continue to keep his family in my thoughts and prayers.

"UW-Whitewater's defense held their opponents under 65 yards rushing for the fourth consecutive week."

Looks like the secret is out!   You can't run on WHITEWATER'S DEFENSE!!!   8) 8) 8)

Let's keep it up this weekend against UW-STP!   GO HAWKS!

Besides finding it difficult to run against Whitewater I believe the Warhawk offense is getting better every week. The running game is beginning to get the kinks out and Jacobs is throwing to a lot of different receivers besides just Stanley. Hopefully they won't be looking past Point this week and crush them on Saturday which they shoud do with a good performance.....this will set up an epic game next Saturday with LaCrosse.....Can it get better than that in the WIAC?......GO WARHAWKS!!!!....

This whole thign about Luke Holmen is horrible. I just heard aboutn how druk he was.Which is also sad. Somethign needs to be doen like puttign a fence up against the edge of the river. Have a walk way inside the fence which would be open from dawn to dusk.
This may prevent and stop any further unfortunate drownings.
As far as the football agems this week Whitewater is going to dominate it. Brian Borland has gotten the defense betetr every eyar even after losing all the players they did after last seasons stagg bowl appearance.
The offense is getting better. However my only question is why has iot taken them this long t  get going. They have all but 2 players back, and the main oens Stanley, beaver,Schmit,Jacobs and the o-line except one.
I think we had high expectations which were met right away. Which is disappointing. Becuase with the weapons they have they should be scoring 45 points a game like one of their coaches told me they would. Thats happen once against what i consider a very very poor college football team.
GO WARHAWKS

Just win, that's all I care about.  If it's by 45 points, fine.  If it's by 1 point, that's fine too.  The only thing that matters to me is that once the game is completed the number on the left side of the column increases by one.

I think you have to give some credit to the defenses we've played as well.  Azusa, Oshkosh and Eau Claire aren't that bad defensively and we're going to be everyone's "Super Bowl" game.   Teams get inspired by that sort of challenge.
