A big blow to the Warhawks' title hopes. Front page has important update.

On the post game show Coach Brez was talking four weeks for Beaver. If that holds true then he could be back for the playoffs. Time now for all the young RB talent to step up for the Warhawks. Great job by the defense again today.

Forgot to mention outstanding Falcon defensive  performances for Bruce  Baillargeon: ( 9 solo tackles, 4 asstd. tackles) and Jaimie Bisch (7 solos, 1 asstd). Both have been outstanding all season.

Sorry to hear about Beaver.  He is a great running back.  I don't know much about breaks like that but I think this late in the season that might be it for him for the season.  That is a terrible loss and a shame.  I agree with coco I hate to see any kid at any level get hurt.

As far as the schedule goes I think the MIAC and IIAC schedule many games with each other.  The Dutch have played a MIAC team the last three years.  As far as our other game we played Augustana.  This year we scheduled Hope College, our sister school and alma mater of Coach Ron Schipper.  It was his dream that both schools that meant so much to him play each other.  I don't think the Dutch have ever "ducked" anyone.  I do think cost has some thing to do with it and travel distances.  UWW is a trek from Pella.  With quality schools closer I think it just makes sense to schedule them first.

It is truly a shame that Beaver got hurt. Let's remember his prediction of four weeks was before he saw a doctor or got an x ray on it.
They will probably know more about it and how long after they get an X-Ray on it. Also four weeks will be a short time for it to heal, if it heals correctly.
However then he needs to rehab it and get it back in game playing shape, which being hurt will not allow him to do.
I am not sure why he was in the game when Whitewater had a 28 point lead. However the Warhawks kept him in late in many of the games last year once they were no longer in doubt.
However the warhawks running back cupboard is not empty as they have Underwood as well as pitz to come in and share the carries until and if Beaver gets to come back.

Most coaches are afraid of miracle comebacks by opponents which they have down by a big score because the coaches remember or heard of one which occurred a long time ago.

gordonmann

Maybe, but the quote on the front page hints that might not have been the case here.

"I can't go back and redo it. Should we have taken him out a series earlier? That's all hindsight. We were going to take him out after that series but he didn't want to come out."

He's not saying he kept him in the game because he was afraid Lax would come back.

I'm not meaning to "crash" your board (I am a Hardin-Simmons fan), but I hated to see that injury against Beaver, just as I do with any player.
The situation is similar Oklahoma's Adrian Peterson today.
By the way, what's the latest on the UW-Stevens Point DE that broke his leg (I think) against HSU? Will he be playing any more this year?
Not really a bad dog. Just misunderstood!

The difference between Beavers injury and Adrian Peterson's injury is that Peterson dove into the end zone and broke it with no one from Iowa State around him. Not to mention they were only up by18.
Beaver and the war hawks were up by 28 points
and he got hit by an opponent I believe maybe not. I will have to watch the UWWTV 19 replay of the game this week.
Anyways Justin Beaver has gone on record on warhawkfootball.com saying he will be back between 3-5 weeks. We will see and the biggest question is where and who the Warhawks will be playing as five weeks from know will bring us to the first round of the playoffs. Also will Beaver be in playing shape after not playing for five weeks. I know he is most likely in great shape. However after not doing any football activities for five weeks. You have to get back into football shape. He probably won't lose much but he still needs to get back into playoff time playing shape, which I think would be hard to do for anyone who hasn't played for 3-5 weeks.
I still don't believe that he should have been in the game. However that's Bob berezowitz's decision to make, and he made it and will have to live with it.

Man, a great win over an archrival before a WIAC record-setting crowd of nearly 10,000  today at "the Perk." While UWW football fans should be revelling in the victory, the focus is now all on the untimely shoulder injury to Justin Beaver.  While their will be plenty of posts criticizing WW coaches for not pulling the All-American running back out in the fourth quarter, if you were in the post-game press conference like I was (as well as D3football.com's Keith McMillion) you would have heard Beaver say that he wanted to be in the game in that situation.  He is not someone that would have pouted if pulled from the game - he is a warrior and relishes in the comptetition week after week.  Had he been pulled earlier, he would not have had the opportunity to eclipse the Warhawks single-game rushing record set by the great John Damoto back in 1997 when the Hawks ran the table - 10-0 in the regular season. The way Beaver handled the questions during today's postgame press conference showed all those in attendance what a classy young man he is.

As Justin told the media following the game.  It was a play that he ran a number of times in his 39 rushes for 286 yards agains LAX on Saturday.  He fell on the same shoulder numerous times during the game. His injury could have happened on his first carry just as well as on his 39th carry.

What sets Justin Beaver apart from the 99.9 percent of other running backs in D3 competition is his heart. Not a physically large running back - but a running back that works extremely hard during the week, and shines on Saturday's.  He is getting x-rays this evening and a further evaluation on his injury will be determined.  Lets hope he will have the opportunity to be on the Warhawks' playoff roster if the team is fortunate enough to gain a playoff berth this season.

Is it a big loss?  You bet!  But this club has a load of talent and Beav's running back mate, and former high school teammate, Travis Reuland along with talented young running backs, Brady Pittz and Derek Underwood have great talent.  I wouldn't write the Warhawks off just yet!

Devil Badger Gopher

I know everyone thought that the UWW-UWL game was the best, but the Blue Devils Vs. BluGolds was a great game.  Stout seems to be playing to their competition and definitely should have won by more than a touchdown in this game.  The Stout Defense pitched a nice shutout and with the only score on a blocked punt (what a formation of the punt team) for a td, they had the bend, but don't break attitude again.  It was nice to see such a clean game (few penalites or celebrations) in such a heated rivalry of I-94.
As questioned earlier, I would have to run it for a possible 2 pt. conversion if I was EC since they cannot pass efficiently!
I know that everyone has Whitewater in the playoffs, but there are still some sleepers out there and with some distractions and injuries, they could be beaten.  I think that LaCrosse will not win out (as I stated earlier this week) as they seem to collapse at the end of the season as of late.
Good luck the rest of the way to the WIAC teams.  With UWW in the driver seat, there are still many teams in the rear view mirror wanting to steer.

I want to remind UWW that we beat you 2 years ago 7to 6 , during our 6-4 season. Mr. Jacobs had a very poor game, with him throwing high and his receivers getting very beat up. UWW dominated in yards but we stopped you in the Clutch. With MR, Beaver hurt you may lose a lot of your offense. Do not overlook UWP on the way to Texas, I am sorry your Star was hurt, We want to play the Best. As to the behavior of the UWW students, I agree they need to grow up. As one of the premier small Business programs in the Country, will the students act this way when they put the suits on. Please come to Platteville next week, but bring your manners. Good luck and God Bless!

"What sets Justin Beaver apart from the 99.9 percent of other running backs in D3 competition is his heart"
Voice no one was or has questioned his heart. And he has probably ran the play that he got hurt on about 1000x's.
However also none of us know all the running backs in division three football. So we don't know what type of heart that all the other RB's have and making a comment like that is nuts. Unless you have interviewed every RB in all of Division three football. I know you're good at what you do, but I don't think you have done that yet.
I think everyone will be second guessing coach Berezowitz's decision to keep Beaver in the game for the rest of the season. Especially if (and that's a big if) they don't make the playoffs.
Know lets relish in the Great victory over the hated Eagles until Monday when the focus turns to the Pioneers of Platteville and the George Chryst game where the winner gets a miner pick. My question is does Whitewater have to bring that with them, and if once again that's a very big if Platteville wins. Do they get to spring across the field and grab the pick off the Whitewater bench

UWPSUPERFAN77

I do not think we do that sprint across the field. We conduct our post game ceremony with dignity and a respect for tradition, honoring both fine schools. God Bless!

I was kidding because the new trophy for the game is designed after the Axe that Minnesota nd the Badger splay for each year.
Also in 2004 Justin Jacobs only played 1/2 the game as he was coming fof a injury. Mike Askren started the game and was horrible, and the coaches then decided to put in Jacobs who did okay the remaining of the game.
The warhawks missed atwo feld goals alte. however the agme should ahve never came down to that. It was more a matter of the Warhawks offense not showing up that day

If we keep playing defense like we are we'll be just fine.  We've got talent behind Beaver and our offensive line has really gotten after people the past two weeks.   For the majority of time today they dominated LaCrosse's front.

My hats off to the LaCrosse crowd.  They travel exceptionally well and made a big contribution towards our record setting attendance.  Thanks.
