Just back from the long haul to WW, and the Eagles didn't hold up their end of the bargain. By that, I mean they didn't give WW enough of a battle to make this the WIAC "game of the century".There is little to say, other than that the better team won. While ths was not the best game I have seen, there is no doubt that this year's WARHAWKS are among the best teams the conference has produced in the many years I have followed the league. Sincere congratulations to Coach Berezowitz, the players, fans, and my WARHAWK following fellow posters. GREAT CROWD. Get Beaver healthy, and boot Mount Union's butt.

Congratulations on a fine win today, Coach Brez and W-WW.  I think you all are playing extremely well so far and hope you go far into the fall.  I'm distressed to hear about Justin's injury!!  I have broken both my collarbones, albeit not on running plays, nor on baking brownies.  But, nevertheless, they hurt every time you breath.  Hopefully it's not a bad break!!!  I wish you all all the best!  Footballfan413--you had a much better day than we did down in NC.  We weren't ready and Guilford took us to the woodshed.  Hope it woke the guys up to the fact that they need to be ready to play every minute of every game.  You can't let a team get up 17 points and think you can pull it out like it's a rabbit or something out of a hat.   :'( :'(  Hopefully they will learn from this and come out stronger next Saturday.  Time will tell!!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

BadgerWarhawk,
You are right on that. The defense has been dominating so far this fall. Which I don't think anyone expected because they lost so many key players from last year's team.
Right know we can worry about Justin Beaver or whether or not the coaches should have even had him in the game. Of course he wanted to be in there what competitive person wouldn't.
All the Warhawks can worry about right know is Platteville, as they have an offense that obviously throw the ball, but have also done a pretty good job running the ball more.
So we will worry about Platteville now and when the Warhawks make the playoffs we can worry about whether or not Justin Beaver is coming back. Of course just like he wanted to be in the game. He says he will be back. He is young and resilient and has no fear that he will be back. The question is will his body heal quickly enough for him to come back and be able to comtribute.Luckily we are not a one man team on offense as we have Justin Jacobs and Derek Stanley along with other weapons.
However like I said the game we have to focus n right know are the Platteville Pioneers.

It's nice that Beaver and people SAY he will be back in four weeks. But that doesn't really mean anything, let's be honest. You can't will yourself to heal from a broken bone.

Pat,
I agree and thats why I say if he is ready to come back in that time. As you have to wait for the bone to heal itself, and you can speed this process up what so ever, as if you do you could just make it worse. I am sure the trainers and the rest of the medical staff will not allow him to push himself to much so he can come abck whenever the Bobe heals.
The sad aprt is he has 940 yards rushing and is just 60 yards short of 1,000.
I am not sure of the records at UWW. However I think they ahve a number of years in a row or 1,000 yard rushers and not having one this year would be disappointing.

Justin Jacobs was 8 for 24 against Platteville in the 7-6 loss two years ago. When is UWP moving into the top 25, based on performance and strength of schedule, Admit it, the UWP game this week looks like a trap game for UWW.       It was a great game at Oshkosh, The UWP defense made some great plays. UWO could have won, but made too many turnovers and missed 3 field goals, 2 of them very make able. The wind did cause havoc with the FG kicking!Joe Patek is a real warrior. he came back from a leg injury and kept his team in the game. Andy Moriarty was injured early in the game and did not return. Do not get discouraged UWO you are still a good team. God Bless!

I feel for the WW fans as you have lost a player who was a joy to watch.  The only thing that bothers me about the whole "should he have been in there yet" stuff is your coaches reaction to it:  "He didn't want to come out."  I'm sorry, but my reaction to that is "This is not a democracy." Coaches are paid to make those decisions.  Beaver not wanting to come out should not be a factor.  No player wants to come out.

WW sure is for real... Great team!!

Really "hammered" LAX..  However,  Beaver should have been sidelined with a 28 point lead and less then 5 minutes...Do you really think LAX is going to score 4 tds when they were lucky to manage an occasional 1st down?  And it's not baseball, players can return to the game if things would have got tight!  HIGHLY UNLIKELY!!

Beaver's injury might put him out for the season...or sure will hamper him in the playoffs!  And thats too bad....Dumb!dumb!dumb!

Mary Hardin-Baylor fan here. Since WW is heading south in a couple of weeks to take on the Crusaders, I thought I would toss my two cents in on the Beaver situation.

Tough break Whitewater fans. I feel your pain. You have lost a great player. However, Beaver did not get all those yards by himself. I am sure you have a great O-line. I suspect your ground game will continue to be formidable.

Looking forward to a great match-up in Texas on October 28.

+ karm to you!  Couldn't have said it better myself.  Looking forward to the trip to Texas.

My 2 cents regarding Beaver, a real shame.  He will be missed until his return.  But, the cupboad is hardly bare.  Coach Z always has a terrific stable of runningbacks to turn to.  Let's not forget that when Justin was unable to play because of a hamstring injury during the 04 season, Colin Burns took over the position and delivered BIG for the Hawks that year.  I have been very impressed with freshman Underwood's peformances this year as well as Brady Pitz just to name a few.  Remember that it is not only Beavers talents but the contributions of a fabulous O-Line and the Hawks great passing game that contribute to all those rushing yards.  This team is sooooo far from a one-man show!!!!!  Wishing Beav a speedy recovery but don't expect the Hawks to miss a beat.  And let us not forget about the fabulous Hawks DEFENSE .  A DEFENSE that has held every opponent to under 64 yards rushing and only allowed an average of 8 point a game.  Our front 7 are among the best in the nation as stated by the UWSTP coach.  Was a little nervous about how our DB's (had to reload there the most) would hold up against a really good passing team and they were fantastic yesterday.  They get more experience and better every game!

UWPsuperfan77,
I find it funny that you want to remind us how UWP beat the Hawks in 04.  A more accurate comparison would be the more recent 05 game as we returned all but 6 players from the National Runner-up team.  I believe that score was in the Hawks favor,   63-28.   ;) :D ;D  This team is handling away games pretty well these days so I don't worry about the home field advantage as much.  But your point is well taken.  UWP will be a formidable opponent as I have been impressed with what they have accomplished this season.  Hawks need to stay focused on one game at a time and have a "Who's next," mentality!

UMHBalum-n-Catland,

You hit it right on the head.  UWW football's weekly saying is "Pound the Rock," and the way you pound the rock all starts in the O-line.  With all due respect to Justin Beaver's incredible ability, I believe its offensive coordinator Stan Zweifel's system that produces UWW's rushing numbers over the years.
Looking forward to the trip to Texas in a couple of weeks

Any of you WW fans that make the trip to Central Texas can look forward to some good ol' Texas hospitality as well as great Texas BBQ.

The game has the potential of being a barn burner. It sounds like it will be strength against strength... Whitewater's offense against the Purple CRUsh defense.

I think the fact that WW and UMHB are willing to square off in the regular season speaks volumes about both programs. They are not affraid to taking on a proven program. If you are going to be the best you have to play the best. Hat's off to the Warhawks and the Crusaders.

Not that I want to keep discussing this topic because there is nothing that can be done at this juncture, but the injury to Beaver occurred with around 9 minutes left in the game, not "less than five minutes."  Just thought that should be clarified for those who didn't get the opportunity to see the game.

Dallas,
Good point I diodn't know that Beavwer was even hurt. I just figured they took him out. Of course Pat Coleman broke the heartbreaking news. Hopefully he will be able to come back. However you can not rush a broken bone back as it needs to heal on it's own.
As far at Mary Hardin baylors Purple Crush Defense.
I hate to break it to you by the Whitewater Defense is just as if not more dominating. Giving up 8 points a game.
I think some one needs to think of a nickname for coach Borlands defense. Nebraska has the Blackshirts, the Vikings had the purple people eaters. The warhawks have to have sometype of nickname.Especially after being so dominate after losign all the players that they did last year.

Footballfan413: You are right in many of your points, Thank you for the Love! The best running Back on the field Saturday will be 25, Mike Geslinger of UWP. We will run the ball on your great defense, The results will speak for themselves. Your defense is tough, but we ran the ball against you last Year. God Bless you guys, nice to hear from Texas fans.
