I agree pretty much with WIAC Football guy that the loss of Beaver who is an exceptional back will be overcome by one of the best offensive lines in D3 football if not the best and right now they are playing better than they have all year. The UWP game is a game the Warhawks can not look past.....remember two years ago. I believe the loss of #32 will cause the team to be very focused to overcome his loss and some very capable back-up running backs will have big days on Saturday. This looks like the perfect game to have a let down but I don't believe that will happen because of the extra effort that will be needed to compensate for no Beaver. If the Warhawks show up this weekend ready to play they will simply Pound the Pioneers. GO WARHAWKS!!!!.....

Hello to all. I usually don't post but wanted to ask what your thoughts were about Mary Hardin Baylor. Do you think they have a shot in beating Whitewater? Since the game is next week I thought this might spark some interesting conversation.

Goal Line Stand

Well, I have been looking for the silver lining regarding Beavers injury and  I think I found it.  It is that all the talk about this being a fatal blow to the Warhawks chances should really feel like disrespect to the rest of the team, especially the O-Line.  Thanks to the D-3 front page poll where 53.4% of the voters don't see the Warhawks in the West Region Final.  Anyone who thinks this team is all about Beaver, hasn't been paying attention! He is an amazing running back and deserves all his accomplishments and awards BUT he didn't get all those yards by himself, he didn't score all the T'D's and he had nothing to do with a defense that is limiting it opponents to an average of 35.2 yards rushing and 7.8 points a game.   Come together and send a message this weekend, Hawks, just like you did last weekend crushing the #6 team in the country 45-10!  An accomplishment that seemed to get lost in all the attention payed to one players injury!!   POUND THE PIONEERS!!!!!

D3ASC,
I don't really think that the Warhawks are worried about next week.As the need to beat Platteville this week, and that's the only game they are worried about.
So I would ask this question again after Saturday and after the Warhawks beat the Pioneers, with another dominating performance by the best dam defense in division three football.

"What sets Justin Beaver apart from the 99.9 percent of other running backs in D3 competition is his heart"
Voice no one was or has questioned his heart. And he has probably ran the play that he got hurt on about 1000x's.
However also none of us know all the running backs in division three football. So we don't know what type of heart that all the other RB's have and making a comment like that is nuts. Unless you have interviewed every RB in all of Division three football. I know you're good at what you do, but I don't think you have done that yet.

Umm, did you forget to read your own advice to voice.  Let me ask you.  Have you seen every defense in Divsion III football?  Can you point to one defensive statistical category that UWW leads the nation in?

Don't call someone's statement nuts, and then follow up with a similar statement.  That IS nuts.

If I can again offer my two cents worth here. It's very hard to forecast how teams without opponents in common will do against each other, and even if they do have common opponents, it's a crap shoot. Just look at the MIAC with Concordia, St John's, Carlton and St Olaf. The scores against other teams were really not a predictor. With that being said, and knowing that Mar-Hardin Baylor may have a fine team. I just don't see tham beating UWW. In the playoffs last year, U-DUB-DUB walked all over a very good St John's. This year, with much the same offense and key players back on defense, they have MONKEY STOMPED their way through a tough WIAC. Their convincing win over UWLax, who has beaten a DI-AA team on the road is also very telling. I firmly believe that UWW is at least as good as My Union and will get to the Stagg Bowl again, Beaver or no Beaver. And this from a Johnnie and MIAC follower.

AAAAhhhhh ... its that time of year again!! when the pioneers take on the warhawks in the george chryst bowl ... which the warhawks unfortunately have tended to be a bit more successful at ..  hmmm  .... but how can you not be .. when you have over twice the enrollment and pick up every UW- Madison drop out that comes along ... and since when did they bring a miner's axe into the deal???? i must say that whitewater needs to get its own identity (like pvilles worlds largest M) ... YOU ARE NOT THE BADGERS! .. plus its a little scary having sharp objects on the field and having them near poor sportsmanship ... remembering back to 2001 when the warhawks (including coaches) walked off the field (pouted back to the locker rooms) after a 27-26 loss .. and having to be asked back out for player of the game ceremonies honoring a great coach ... i just hope that UWW takes its loss on saturday with a little more class than that
For what its worth - Sorry to hear about beaver ... but hey .. thats why girls dont play .. it happens .. im sure they wont have problems finding someone else to run behind that line ... i hope the WW RB's take those boys out for dinner every saturday nite for all the great work they do for them .. steak too .. none of that fast food crap
Well theres my trash talk for this year ... comment if you would like .. i love the rivalry .. good luck to both teams ... KEEP RUNNING THE BALL MIKE!!!!!

Thanks for the love, retargent!  Means alot coming from a Johnnie!

Just Bill,
You are right.  The Hawks DEFENSE doesn't lead in one statistical category in the nation.  But they are 2nd, 5th and 7th in three national defensive categories, however.   Guess they will just have to settle for leading in 8 out of 11 DEFENSIVE categories in the WIAC including Scoring Defense, Turnover Margin, Rushing Defense, Sacks and Total Defense to name a few.  They are 2nd in two other categories but do rank 3rd in one.  Sooooo.......considering that they are the #1 DEFENSE in the WIAC and the WIAC is ranked the #1 toughest conference in the country by D-3 Football.com.........one could come to the logical conclusion.........I suppose.........  ;) ;) ;) ;D

footballfan413,

Sorry it's been so long, but just wanted to pass along my thoughts and prayers for your man Beaver!
He was, in my opinion, the difference in last years game with the Cats. The run just opens up so much. Best of luck the rest of the way! GO PURPLE!

I still can't watch the DVD!  ;)  ;)  ;)
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Your right I did not look at the stats before stating that th Warhawks were the bestd efense in division three however. They are in the top ten in three catergories
Turnover Margin # 2
Rushing Defense # 5
Scorind Defense # 7

So I did jump the gun a little bit saying they are the best. However I have shown the statistical catergories that prove theya re one of the best.So being ranked in the top ten in three catergories is pretty good. Are they the best. I am not sure however they are the second ranked team in the nation, and are certainly going to be favoired to return to the stagg bowl. Not to emntion they play in the best division three conference in all of division three football. Like I said earlier

RalpE,

As to identities, I think that two national championships, one runner up and three national coaches of the year in 2005 counts as something.  Not to take anything away from the world's largest "M".

The Warhawks will continue to play outstanding football without Justin Beavers. The offensive line, new running backs and the defense will play to make him proud.

Hey, Tuxguy, great to hear from you and thanks for the well wishes for Beaver.  He will be back and in the mean time, lots of good backs to keep the spot warm for him.  I have been keeping track of the Cats and know that they started out a little slow, 2 losses to 2 tough teams but seem to be coming together as the season goes on.  Know what you mean about DVD's.  I still can't watch the Stagg Bowl without wanting to erase the 3d quarter!!! ;D ;D ;D
Good luck to the Cats!!!!!!!    :-* :-*
