I just want to chime in to say your posts are very entertaining and add a lot to our discussion.
Keep up the good work and good luck to Platteville on Saturday.

Yo Ralphie,
UWW has one goal every week.  That's to go 1 and 0.  If you go onto Warhawkfootball.com and read a few quotes from Coach Brez, you'll see what I'm talking about.  Platteville is the only team on the Warhawks minds right now.  That must feel uncomfortable, knowing that one of the best teams in the country is coming into your house looking to raise hell and then raise up.  P-ville is locked in UWW's sight and the Warhawks be hitting all day Saturday.

kurt,
the pioneers arent feeling uncomfortable right now ... well not that i would know .. i live hundreds of miles away and  im not even in the same state as them ... but i do know the program, the coaches, and a few of the players ... and theyre attitude has always been the same ... they love the big games .. the big teams ... they love being the underdogs ... they wouldnt care if they won a game the rest of the year if they could just knock the big dog off the porch ... (proof being why they havent beaten river falls in the last fifteen years)... the pioneers are a very hungry team ... they have nothing too lose ... cuz even if they win they know that no one in the WIAC is gonna give them any respect and that warhawks just had a bad game .. it was all a fluke ... the pioneers play for themselves ... they go out there to play cuz they just love to play ... no one goes to pville to play football ... every single one of those guys are not there because of plattevilles tradition ... what tradition ... theyve been in the losers bracket for the last twenty years .. with a few odd years here and there .. but hey even a blind squirrel finds a nut ... the bottom line is that those boys are there for an education first (hence why half the team is engineers and most go on to work for fortune 500 companys) ... and if you get to run around and play a game in your freetime ... bonus ... and you ask if they are feeling uncomfortable???? ... ha .. they be there waiting for you with open arms ... saying "welcome to the ralph" ... and oh yes it will be a long game ... judging from the number of hatchet awards giving out this year ... looks lilke pville will be doing the hittin ... POUND THE COW ... or rock?? ... whatever

No offense, Superfan, but it was said last year too. It's hardly a unique observation that Beaver got a lot of work.

Kevin,

I know you mean well, but please don't engage him.  (I was already guilty of that this week).  This is a poster Pat has booted already, but he keeps coming back.  We're doing our best to ignore him.

My bad then ... consider me disengaged.

Kieth,
I have no idea what happen in the 1977 stagg bowl. As I was only 13 months old at the time.

I was 13 months old too.

Lately, I've just been challenging people saying this or that is "the best in Division III" or "the best in Division III" to see if they really looked at everything to see if it was one of the best or are just talking out of their hyperbolic hindquarters.

Sorry, I'm a copy editor by trade ... been on this kick since I read a quote from Peyton Manning, who has played for all of one NFL team, claim one of his coaches was the best so-and-so in the NFL. Knowing damn well he has no idea how good most of the other 31 are.

Dude does have some funny commercials though.

Oh, my bad, is this the guy I'm not supposed to engage? Here I am just talking to myself ...

Quote from: warhawkclownshow on October 19, 2006, 04:59:10 PMLooking ahead to next week the hawks have an opponent who appears to be a challenge (Lacrosse appeared to be a challenge leading up to the game last week and we all know how well they did) in MHB, however the weather in Texas may have a greater affect on the team than Crusaders personnel.

I think you'll find that the UMHB personnel looks and plays a lot like the Whitewater personnel.

Except their QB is six inches shorter and their tailback is a 235-pound bowling ball. Freddie Rollins / beast = same.

In defense of Bob Berezowitz, back in 2000 the Warhawks played host to the La Crosse Eagles in a Week #5 matchup.  Whitewater was 3 - 1 coming into the game and La Crosse was 1 - 2.  With about 7 mins and 30 seconds to go in the game, Whitewater was on top 22 - 3.  La Crosse came back over the last 7 mins and won 23 - 22.   Now in reference to Beaver being in the game when he got dinged, my question is this....if Whitewater is up by 19 with about 7 minutes to go, is that similar to being up by 28 with with 12 minutes to go?  My mind says yes.  The bottom line?  Don't call off the horses until you know for sure.

Thanks for reading my post.  You guys are the best!!!

With 11:43, I don't mind it terribly. Running it with your best RB and not turning it over is the best way to kill the clock. If you look at the two collapses this year in the NFL, the Eagles vs. the Giants and Arizona vs. the Bears, they couldn't run and they mixed the perfect cocktail of mistakes.

My point is when you get under six minutes or whatever and you see Stanley limp off and you see Sakellaris come out of the game --- I was blogging, so I didn't have any notes that said exactly when, but it was across midfield when they both got hurt, a couple plays from each other --- naturally most people would start thinking about taking out Beaver, Jacobs, Pete Schmitt, Mrkvicka, other key linemen, etc.

Bob said he thought about it, at least at the start of the drive, and he chose not to do it; He knew he was playing with fire and he just happened to get burned this time. 99 times out of 100 Beaver carries throughout that drive uneventfully, kills the clock and everyone goes home happy. Well, except La Crosse.

I do think there might be some truth to the "it can only help us" sentiment Beaver expressed though. By the time they get him back deep in the playoffs, if he's not 100% or gets banged up again, those other guys will have plenty of game experience.

I got a chance to watch the 4th quarter of the Whitewater-Lacrosse game today on tv (I love FCS for televising a WIAC game every week), and I agree with K-mack here.  At the start of the drive on which Beaver got hurt, most of the 4th quarter remained and it was a no brainer to have him in.  I thought it was a little dicey to keep him in when the clock got under 7 minutes and after the Stanley injury, but it's easy to see why a coach would keep a player in for the rest of that series.  All in all it's unfortunate but count me among those who hope to see him back in the playoffs.  I'd love to see a Whitewater/MUC rematch in Salem this December.  Best of luck...and stay healthy!

From what I saw Saturday, Whitewater could go undefeated through the WIAC without Beaver.

We faced put up or shut up time, and we had to shut up.

Platteville's turn comes this Saturday.

Quit crying over spilled MILK! I wrote 3 or 4 weeks ago that Beaver may be overworked. Although, I will miss seeing Mr. Beaver, I did say he was being overworked. His predecessor also retired early, due to injuries! I believe his name was Colin Burns, also all conference. This isa team sport, not one for individual records, at he expense of team goals! When your star plays all the time, who is game ready. Kind of like is Rogers ready to play for the Packers! Out team is physically tougher because we wear out teams in the 4th quarter. By the way, who is your fan, on the Pickums who never picks UWP but criticizes me.Also, i figured out who UDUD DUB is. he is that student who has been in school for 10 or 12 years and stays in UWW to Party I think Doolittle is his manager, who marches down the street ahead of him with his theme Music. LOL! God bless all of You Just because I am Born Again, does not mean I lack a sense of Humor!

I'm not getting the sense of humor part but regarding the "Born Again" thing, I like the bumber sticker that says "I was born just fine the first time".

K-Mack,

I like your style... "hyperbolic hindquarters" - too funny! And your assessment of UMHB is right on. The WW vs UHMB match-up has the potential to be a barn burner.

I am sorry, I forgot that FootballFan413, is the gentleman that always picks against Platteville. I do not do Pickums, because only God knows who will win, or who he allows to WIN. Later!

And I will pick against them this week also but this week, I will finally be right!!!!!  ;D  Really, you shouldn't take those Pick Em's personally.  Alot of posters picked against UWP...............especially this week!   ;D

All kidding aside, I will say again and HAVE BEEN SAYING ALL ALONG, that UWP looks much improved and I have been impressed with how well they have played some tough teams this year.  Nobody hands you wins in the WIAC and the Hawks will have their hands full.............. BUT, they WILL win!

Think I will disengage now..... ;) ;) ;)
