Hey Pat,

You are putting words in my post...no were did I mention "how good" the Titans were....And a keen observation on your part about the first 59:40 of the game....(also badgerwarhawk agrees pretty much with you)...BUT the last 20 seconds, with a tie score, this call changed a W to a L for Oshkosh!  AND THAT SHOULDN"T HAPPEN!

So are you suggesting the official shouldn't call a penalty he sees in the last 20 seconds?

badgerwarhawk,

No I'm not suggestion that at all.  What I said is that you shouldn't call a penalty that  DIDN'T HAPPEN....there is a difference!!

CaptainKurt

I can't buy that argument.  I tell my high school players every game that the refs will screw up three calls per half, minimum.  They will call holding when there wasn't any.  They will not call holding when there is a lot of it going on.  Pass interference, ruffing QB (when he is carrying out a fake), etc, etc, etc.  Don't ever expect the refs to call an average game.  If the refs in the WIAC were that good, they'd be working on Sunday.

I'm not saying all refs in WIAC are not good.  I'm simply stating that good teams don't let the refs win/lose the game for the entire team.

So, what kind of car are you driving these days cap?
If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

As I mentioned it's often a judgement call and in the ref's judgement the penalty DID occur.

But my main point was that you had two fumbles returned for touchdowns and threw an interception on your only possession in overtime.   Yet you seem to feel the official lost the game as if those three plays were less relevant to the outcome than the single play on which the official was involved.   That doesn't hold water imo.

But I understand the frustration involved in a close loss and would have to admit that I've been frustrated by officiating in the past as well.

Congrats, footballfan413 on a great victory today, even though the day was miserable.  The way the game went should have kept you toasty!!  As for BC, it was down the tubes.  2nd loss in a row.  Disheartening.  But they need to start working on next week now.  W & L still have no losses in the ODAC and we need to hang one on them (which I am beginning to have angst about)  I would karmalize you but it's not been long enough since I did it early this morning!!!  All the best.  Boy next week is going to be such a big game.  UMHB VS UWWW.  2 more purple teams.  Will you all go down to Belton? ???  I don't even know why I'm asking.  Of course you will.  Cheer for me.  I think it'll be one of the GAMES OF THE SEASON.   :) :)  I like both teams, having met fans of both at the Stagg Bowl the last couple of years.  (Oh, by the way, whoever gets to the Stagg, Stone Station will be there to host.  We have started planning already!!)   ;D ;D ;D

Thanks for the congrats, olinemom.  So sorry to hear about the loss. Tough for the Eagles and their fans.  Good luck this weekend!

Pat,
What can you tell us about UMHB and, especially, the ASC.  Only familiar with a few of the teams and don't know alot regarding how the conference stacks up nationally.  Appreciate your imput.

FYI: A couple of cool fronts have passed through Texas recently. Hence, the weather forecast for the UWW vs. UMHB is calling for clear skies and temps in the lower 80's. Should be a great day for a great game.

footballfan413,

ASC is always one of the better conferences in the country. Hardin-Simmons and UMHB are powers each and every year. The weather can get to you, humid & hot.  8) And coming from Wisconsin or Oregon it can be a real test of conditioning.
Be ready for a battle, and a good football game.

If you can, get in Friday, so you can take in a High School game! A town with 2-3000 people will have a Stadium that seats 5000. It's a whole new experience in High School Football.  :o

Good luck, and if UMHBalum-in-Catland is there look him up for some good old southern hospitality.  ;D

UMHB Alum, are you still in McMinnville?

Enjoy the game now ya hear!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Thanks for the info.  I was going to come over to the NWC board next with the inquiry as I figured you guys might also have some insight into the ASC.  I know that UMHB and HS are consistant contenders (and HP some years,) but not sure about the strength of the rest of the conference.
Of course, Texas HS football is legendary.......even just got their own TV show!!!! ;D ;D  Hope UMBalum-in-Catland's weather report holds.  Lower 80's, even for the players, would be a welcome change from last Saturday.  Rainy and 40's.  Hot, I expect but isn't Texas suppose to be DRY heat?   :D  Should be a real test for the Hawks but I'm looking forward to it!  Good luck to the Cats this weekend against Menlo!

GO WARHAWKS!! GO WARHAWKS!!! GO WARHAWKS!!!

Compared to Louisiana, where I now reside, Texas heat seems dry! Central Texas can have some pretty high humidity in the summer. However, the fall can be pleasant.

Uhh, no offense, but you ought to read my post. Nowhere (note spelling of said word) did I ascribe those words to you!

Keith has seen UMHB this year -- in fact, we think he might be the only person to see each team in person before this weekend -- so I'll let him talk about that more in Around the Nation.
