give me some Warhawk numbers to say otherwise.

I did my homework a few days ago and used the two teams conference standings to do a little comparisons. Now, I am not entirely comfortable with this as it is apples and oranges, something I gave Raiderguy crap for doing very recently but it is all we have.  This is also the reason that I was looking for info on the depth and stength of the entire ASC, top to bottom, to get some perspective on how it compares to the WIAC and what the numbers really mean.

Standings in the WIAC as of 10-21                                                  Standings in the ASC

UWW                                                                                                   UMHB

Total offense                1st      423.0 yds/g                            6th              307.7 yds/g
Rushing offense            3rd     189.1 yds/g                            1st              201.0  yds/g
Rushing defense          1st       35 yds/g                                 1st              16.4 yds/g

Both teams rushing offense and defense are amazingly close on paper...............Both may have trouble running the ball in IMHO.

It may come down to who has the best luck airing it out............................

Passing offense  WW       1st            233.9 yds/g                     UMHB        9th         106.9 yds/g

Total WW offense yards                          1324 rushing     1637 passing
Total UMHB offense yards                        1407 rushing     748 passing

UWW's offense hasn't been one-dimensional since 2004 and that is the reason for last years success.  They have many weapons and can take what the defense gives them.   AGAIN, just numbers and they don't mean a thing on Saturday but it is fun to look at.

Watch out for the HOGs that Whitewater brings to the pen.  They can play against anyone IMO.  THe size, strength and speed of their OLine will roll the Texas team.

Temp on Saturday in Belton.....high of 78 with a low of 50.  The "Texas heat" left a few weeks ago and it certainly will not be in the "low 90's" on the turf.  Should be a great day.

I like the stats Footballfan...looking at those numbers, it appears that if WW stops/slows down the MHB rushing attack it will force them to do something they have not had to do all year.  If they cannot establish a running game to eat up some clock, it might take them out of their game plan early.

WW o-line averages 280.  UMHB d-line averages about 250 with the LB's at 215.  UMHB o-line averages 270 as does WW d-line with the LB's at 235.  As I have seen before, most teams are overall quicker than the WIAC so I will give that to UMHB.
WW is not Stevens Point, no comparison.
I think size matters. So does my wife.
I may not have much to say, but I'll say it anyway.

I think team speed often hurts WIAC teams in the playoffs.  Its like the Big Ten in some respects.  You need beef to get through the tough conference games, but other teams have conferences that are either less deep or more speed oriented and can afford smaller, faster players.  In one game, that can be an advantage.

I know little about MHB, but Whitewater is VERY good.  If MHB can beat them, I will be impressed.

Just a note to say have a great time in Belton at the big game.  I hope it's a great game.  I think it will be!  I can't decide whether it's going to be lowscoring because both defenses are fantastic or high scoring because their offenses are excellent as well.  But I'll be wondering and trying to find out what is going on!!  All the best!

I don't know much about WW other than reputation.  We are looking forward to a great game in Belton.  The weather will be beautiful, I hope.  UMHB has great speed on defense.

As a comparison to Division I, the Whitewater - Mary Hardin-Baylor game really is the Ohio State - Texas non-conference game of the year.

Whitewater by 21.

All you Warhawk faithful who are making the trip to Texas, let me recommend Schoepf's Old Time Pit Bar-B Que in Belton. It is some good eatin'. It is located on 702 East Central Avenue. Anyone can give you directions.
The phone number is (254) 939-1151

If your tastes are a bit more refined, just south of Belton on I35 in the small town of Salado is the Stagecoach Inn - very historic and famous restaurant. The hush puppies are incredible. Just go south on Interstate 35, you can't miss it. It is about 10 minutes south of Belton.  The phone number is 254-947-5111

Everyone have a safe trip and enjoy your time in Texas and let's have a great game!

I have heard Tom Pattison, aka voice, is not in good shape.

From an e-mail we received:

QuoteI am part of Tom's family and would like the Warhawks to know he's in need of vistors and friendship.  His stroke has left him with a paralyzed right arm and hand.  We are trying very hard to find new living arrangements for him.  He will need to live in Whitewater and should anyone know of any available housing for him, it would be much appreciated.  It has been an honor for him to become close to the Warhawk's football team, his unconditional pride is very real and his life has evolved around them.

This was the e-mail address. Any help should be directed in that direction, I guess.

as much as i like reading bout warhawk football ... which seems to be the main topic of posters lately ... whats up with the WIAC this season??? ... i was just lookin at the standings and it seems to be a flip flop of the last five years ... with the pioneers, river falls, and oshkosh towards the top of the charts ... must be that dreaded rebuilding year thing ... hmmm ... bout time ... i like the change

I agree, this has become the UWW chatline. Too bad about Voice, I do not know him but will pray for him. I want to hear from Falcon Fred, or other RF fans. I want to know about the UWP vs RF  series, My Pioneers have not beat them since 1992. Eau Claire Fans, Why is your team so down this Year? UWSP fans , how has your team turned it Around? I will be in SP on 11/04/06. Any good Buffet recommendations? I am the Super fan, My fandom is not based on wins and losses. PS, to the UWW Fan, that said they should have gotten 70 on UWP, dream on! It was our hard hitting defense that caused all of the turnovers. We just did not take advantage of enough of them. Also. it was a game in the first half! Good luck in Texas, play it one game at a time, your Regional rating of 1 may be at stake. Blessing to all!
