The UWW defense was stellar.  The d-line was awesome.  Big, fast and strong.  I thought the LBs played very well.  It was a slugfest after the opening kickoff.

Many of you have expressed your concern and best wishes to Voice (aka Tom) as he recovers from his recent stoke.  I'm happy to say that he is doing pretty well under the circumstances.

I thought you might like an update...http://www.warhawkfootball.com/newswire.asp

Tom, if you're able to get a day pass to attend next Saturday's game and you need transportation back and forth please don't hesitate to contact me.  I'd be more than happy to help you out.  I'll email my contact numbers using your Warhawkfootball. com email address.  Just let me know if that's the case.  We'd really like to see you there but remember your doctor knows best.

Thanks for the link which gives Tom's address.  I shall dash him a card.  He has been so nice to me!!  Get well, Tom.  The guys need you!!

I have been following UMHB since they started playing football and I have never known them double team anyone. Not even Linfield's stable of stud recievers that they brought to the Stagg Bowl. The CRUsh "D" is athletic and fast, fast, fast.

Quote from the game report in the Killeen Daily Hearld:
"They were unbelievably quick," he [Coach Bob Berezowitz] said of the Cru defense. "We knew they were quick, but they were really quick out on that field."

Again, congrats to UWW. Finish strong and have a good run in the playoffs. I hope UMHB can do the same.

I hope you are talking about only the D, because if you listened to the game like me, Keith and Pat mentioned TRIPLE TEAMING by the UMHB offense on none other than Kleppe.  Listen to the first half archived broadcast.  If what Keith and/or Pat said is not accurate, it would be the first time I have known them to do that.  If the UMHB offense received only a portion of the love the UMHB posters give their D, maybe they'll feel better about themselves and as a unit and would have scored more than 3 points.  Seriously, when the gun goes off and the scoreboard reads 7-3 and I have the 3, it doesn't really matter my D is fast and that I don't have to double team the opponent. It's a TEAM game and I didn't get it done.  And Oh, BTW, UMHB lost to Linfield, too.  Maybe you're on to  something else there, though ;)

UWRF vs Platteville. The Falcons showed why the WIAC is a great conference. They gave the Pioneers all we could handle for 3.5 quarters. Only until Mike Genslinger broke 2 long runs of 43 and 69 yards was the game decided. They ran a simplified offense but executed it well, dominating time of possession. The UWP made enough crucial stops until our running game wore down the Falcons. Beau DeBruin is very tough. Jeremy Wolff is one of the best athletes in our conference at QB, He was very tough on 3rd down running on scrambles, draws, and option plays He would be even tougher if he was running the option. He was knocked out of the game twice, but came back even better. Good luck the rest of the season, and God Bless all of you

A tribute to Bob Berezowitz: You deserve your State recognition on 11/04/06. Not many coaches , with your ability, last as long on one job. You could have moved up, to a much higher paying job. But you love the Warhawks. I met you 2 springs ago at the UWSP vs UWW Baseball Sectional. You were humble and kind, even when I mentioned the 7-6 game at UWP, the previous fall. at UWP. You truly are an example for many other coaches. It was hard to follow Coach Perkins, a true legend .You also made him proud. You have many contributions to FB as a player, even after your UWW Playing days, in Amateur ball. Good luck and may God Bless you in the future!

I think it was obvious he was referring to the defense as he mentioned playing the Linfield receivers.  We give our offense their credit as well, but the whole Cru philosopy is 1) stop the run, 2) control the pass and 3) have an effective running game to control the game and score enough to win.

In 2004, we had three All-Americans in the offensive line and our offense was pretty danged good.  We have an inexperienced offensive line this year and they are getting better each week, but we know that right now our offense is not as good as it was two years ago.  Right now we need to learn to finish some drives and cut down on some mistakes.  I also don't believe that fans giving love to their offense, defense or special teams on this chat board has a whole lot to do with how they perform on game day.

Our offense was good enough to win this past week.  It was an uncharacteristic let down in special teams that cost us the game.  It is a TEAM game and we did not get it done.  And, Oh, BTW, UWW lost to Mount Union, too.  ;)  Was that a team loss like ours was against Linfield?

roocru -
#1 Not too obvious when the beginning comments concerned the inability to block Kleppe.  They had nothing to do with UMHB defense!! Somehow got twisted to talk up the D...again!!  That was my point.
#2 You don't have to use 2 losses to tell the world how great your team is.  I think you've had enough wins over the past years to use a few games you actually did win to do that. That was my point.
#3 I would disagree with you, your offense wasn't good enough to win.  I remind you, the final score was 7-3 and you had the 3, hence you didn't win.  If my team had 1 total offensive yards and your team had 500, if I have 7 points and you have 3, we win!!  Saying good enough to win is the same as saying we lost (duh).  I would counter, your D lost the game since the kick coverage team is a special team, but essentially an extention of your defense.  They were "defending" your goal!  And to remind you of your comment above, just didn't get it done.  That was my point.
#4 I wasn't aware that UWW lost to MUC.  Thank you so much for that information. Unfortunately, has nothing to do with the content of this post (twisting things again)!!  That was not my point.

If you can't ignore an insult, top it; if you can't top it, laugh it off; and if you can't laugh it off, it's probably deserved.

In my most recent post lauding the UMHB defense, I did not mention anything but defense. And yes I have been talking up the CRU "D" here because prior to the game there was not much respect given the the Purple CRUsh on this forum. In fact, after proving their metal for the past 4 plus years, they are still dissed by a few a posters, even after they have performed well.

My last post was an  effort counter a sentiment that I was picking up on that was still not giving the CRU "D" the respect they deserve. Posts to the effect of "how did UMHB stop Stanley, oh they were double teaming him." And "we were off offensively"... and would Beaver had made a difference?". Bottom line, the UMHB defense is good. And against Linfield in the Stagg they held the Cats to about half of their per game offensive production - yards and points. I lived in McMinnville at the time and saw most of the Cats games that year and all of their playoff games. The job the UMHB defense did against them was tremendous. No one was going to stop that Linfield team, but the CRU slowed them down and held them to their lowest production of the season in the biggest game of the season.

Roocru has Coach Fred's philosophy down pat, it all begins on defense. And make no mistake the defense stopped the run and shut down the pass all day long against UWW. The offense is usually efficient enough to the get the job done. However, UWW's defense was up to the challenge and made some big plays when it needed to. We had no answer for #95. Also, the UWW punter did a great job and UMHB, with the exception of the one UWW fumble, had poor - very poor field posiiton all day long. Which is exactly what the UWW coach told both Texas newspapers that covered the game. Add to the aforementioned some untimely penalties by the UMHB offense, which really hurt, and you have the Warhawk win

No one is dissing the UMHB offense. The QB (and his family) is a friend that I have known since he was about 10 years old. He is a great kid and a fierce competitor. He would even say they just did not get it done on Saturday. Hopefully, the CRU will be playing football for several more weeks and the offense will continue to improve throughout the playoffs.

UWW won the game. Their defense shut down the CRU in the same way the UMHB shut down the Warhawks. The team that made the fewest mistakes won. UWW is very well coached and very disciplined. They made very few mistakes. Congratulations to UWW.

How is being proud of a very special defense - and incredible effort on Saturday - and honest about our offense a problem? It is not disrespectful to the UMHB offense - we love 'em, or to UWW.

One more time - UWW beat UMHB 7-3. It's in the books and the game is over. No "ifiing and butting," the Warhawks won. Congrats to them. Coach B is a first class coach and has a first class program

I wish we had won, but we did not. That being said, it was a great game and the most exciting 7-3 contest I have ever witnessed. And by far the best two defenses I have ever seen competing in the same game.

BOBO be nice! Do not do to the MHB Poster what you, and others do to the SF, all the time! Blessings to all!

Bobo, If UMHB triple teamed Kleppe, it was the worst triple team in history.   :o.  I was at the game and UMHB could not block him on the running game, particularly the first few series.  It looked like they were trying to block him one on one.  On pass plays they were helping with the tackle and center at times.  You can't run any offense if you triple team.  He looked like he bull rushed and just dominated.  He is the best d-lineman I've seen.

For what it's worth I'm the poster who brought up the double teaming of Stanley and I stated clearly that I hadn't seen the game and was basing my comments on what the radio guys said.

And take a good look my posts since the game because I'm pretty sure I've stated what a damned good defense UMH-B had in more than one of them.   Frankly I've been nothing but respectfull towards UMH-B defense even before the game was actually played and I don't recall making any comments regarding your offense.

I've even said "NOBODY has done that to our offense in two years" at least two or three times.  If that's not respectfull enough I'm not sure what I can say that is.

And "Would Beaver had made a difference" is a question.  Not a statement indicating Beaver would have run wild against your defense.  There's no need for you to be so hyper sensitive about it.

I've never met your coach but I have no doubts he is also a first class person and it's pretty obvious by your record and what you've accomplished in a few short years of playing the game that you have a first class program.   We're proud to have played well enough to win and most all of us realize that if it weren't for a few breaks here and there, like a holding penalty on our two yard line, things could have turned out completely different.
