Wendt vs. Stanley.  Both are quick, so I dont think speed would be a deciding factor.  Wendt probably has 4-5" on Stanley, but Stanley can jump the lights out.  I am not going to try to justify who is better, but I do believe that Wendt may look better due to surrounding factors - Example: Wendt is UWS's only receiving threat, whereas UWW shows they can spread the ball around more.  The answer to the Wendt vs. Stanley question is tougher than a lot of people may think.

For the games, I would have to take UWEC over UWO because of the loss of Patek at QB and UWO's ability to seem to lose every close game they are in.  I would go with the Poineers over the Pointers.  I know the Pointers are riding a high, but I think these OT wins are showing more luck than anything else.  UWL over UWRF (no explaination needed).  Finally, we would all like to see UWS get back on track and upset the Warhawks, but we also all know that the probability of that happening is unlikely.  UWW rolls.
But who will have a better game??  Wendt or Stanley?? ;D ;)

LAX LB

If Stout can contol the gaps, knock around the Freshman RB's and cause a turnover or two I could possibly see an upset saturday.   From what I saw of UWW against UWO, they aren't very succesfull when forced to pass.

Just a reminder "The Owen Schmitt Show" is on tonight versus Louisville.  As usual, it stars Patrick White, Steve Slaton, and former freshman all-WIAC FB Owen
Schmitt.  (For those who missed it, yesterday's  USA Today did a very nice job profiling "the face of West Virginia toughness," devoting 3 -4 paragraphs to Owens' "fat kid" days in Gilman, WI and his tenure at UWRF).

Stop right there.  IF Stout can control the gaps is a huge IF.  That is not going to happen.  I'll take Whitewater by 21 or more.

LAX LB

Stout can just stack the box, bracket Stanley and jam the TE. they should be in good shape.  Just watch the second half of the UWO game.  Also I would recomend coaching up the MLB to eye the FB and when he flows opposite the line shoot the A gap, you'll should have a nice TFL.

Obviously this game plan worked well for La Crosse, so I'm sure Stout will take your post into consideration and use it for 4 quarters on Saturday.  Good call.

ww is the obvious 1 seed in the west making it fairly possible that the hawks would get a chance to play lax in the second round, interesting.

Great posting by all of you. Captain, could you please refrain from swearing or name calling .Nice to see more posts from the non UWW Bandwagon Chat room. I will post more tomorrow!  Us, Double Dipping retires, are short on time. We do other things than just read this website. God Bless all of you, including All UWW fans!

Like everyone I expect a WW win on Saturday.

Unlike most I wouldn't be surprised to see a Blue Devil win either.

This squad has a ton of talent. They have been snake bitten all year.

The Devils could be 7-1 going in, instead they are 3-5.

LAX was the only team that just plain beat them.

I look for a great game in Whitewater. With all due respect, if Stout gets up in the second half, it's going to be a meat grinder for the Warhawks.

Since we are turning this post into a forum for all past, present, and current Whitewater fans, players, and supporters lets roll back the clock to November 9th, 2002 (Senior Day) when the University of Wisconsin-Stout Blue Devils could not even stop a basic dive play called the 30 wedge and fell to the Hawks 24-21.  It brings back good memories.........Go Hawks run 30 wedge if you have to and dump those Blue Devils. ;D

Stout may have some talent but the level is not even in the same category as ww. as for it being a close game i doubt it unless there are mass turnovers by the hawks. Might be competitive early but will proly turn into a 4-5 td win for purple

BDB...What is the difference between a Stout fan and a non-Stout fan???  You (the fan) say that if they hadn't been snake bit all year, Stout could be going into WW at 7-1, not 3-5.  Me (the non-fan) could say that instead of being 3-5 going in, Stout could easily be 0-8 going in.  I was reviewing Stout's season and those 3 W's could never be construed as convincing.  Look at it objectively, and tell me you don't see that?
With that being said, do I think they have a chance against WW???  Of course they do, but it has nothing to do with the ton of talent you say they have.  And I don't doubt what you say because you are much closer to the Stout program than I ever will be.  Plus, I don't necessarily agree with warhawkclownshow, either, for the same reason. However, it appears Stout has had bad luck all year, lousy play calling and whatever - a whole host of problems.  But, having a 4 game turnaround - that's not being snake bit, that's nearly 1/2 your season.  If some other guy was using that excuse, you too would probably wonder what they ate for lunch, am I wrong???  It sounds like they haven't been able to perform when they needed to against lesser competition.  Stout fans better pray for the right alignment of all the stars and moons in the heavens. WW has too much riding on this to lay an egg on Sat.

Nice article on Coach B from today's WSJ

Thanks for the link!!  I was fortunate enough to meet Coach Brez at the Stagg Bowl last year.  What a first class individual!!  I would love to be there for his day on Saturday.  I sincerely hope that Tommy is able to get there for it!  WW, win this for Coach Brez.  Seniors, you need this game to continue your run toward the play offs.  It'd be nice to see you all back in Virginia again this December!!
