Looks like UWW eeked one out versus Stout today ;)

Just Bill

Congratulations to Point today!  I find it remarkable that they are in a tie for 3rd (and have beaten the two teams they are tied with).  By what I've seen and other accounts, they really aren't that good, but they've gotten just enough defense in the second half of the season to pull out three straight close wins.  A win over Stout (and all their all-conference players ;)) would clinch at least a share of third place, much higher than just about anyone would have put them at the beginning of the year.

Just returned from Whitewater so let's clear a few things up......Stout could be a 7-2 team? Gimme a break--It could have been 70-0 if they left the first string in. Wendt better than Stanley---ludicrous. 11 All-Conference players--Where were they today? I will also take the Warhawks third and fifth string running backs over your alleged stud back. I realize everyone likes to support their own team and believes in their own players but some of these posts this week were just NUTS.....Onto River Falls where hopefully the Warhawks will continue to POUND THE ROCK!!!!.....

70-0?

Looks like the vaunted WIAC is not as tough as previously claimed.  Hopefully, UWW can perform well in the playoffs after playing such cupcakes all year long :D

I really have a hard time reading some of these posts in regards to personally pointing out guys like Wendt, Weinstein and Runk.  These are the last of Stout team I personally know and really feel for them.  I feel honored that I have had the opportunity to know them on a more personal level besides football.  We have gone out to eat, made breakfast before home games, ate chocolate chip cookies and gone out and had great times at the Flame and other high class establishments in Menomonie.
I'm aware some have had past problems and such but I feel I have met 3 guys I hope make something of themselves after football.  Go out and play like it's the last play of your last game.
I may not have much to say, but I'll say it anyway.

To the meat heads on this forum who talk all this **** about Stout's RB Englebert and WR Wendt, listen up......Englebert and Wendt would play on any team in this conference PERIOD.

For the past 2 years, it's been my opinion that WW has made it a habit of taking the opponents all-star caliber star players according to their fans and making them mere mortals.  This has occured not only in league games, but non-conference, and nearly all play-off games - MCU & Linfield being the exception. Again today, the two players mentioned had no success and would probably want to forget the whole thing.  Englebert was 14-33 rushing and 4-13 receiving; Wendt had 1 reception for 15 yards and spent much of the game watching from the sidelines according to the radio announcers.  WW hammered Genslinger from UWP, Moriarity from UW-O, and just about everyone on UW-L and Point could muster up. Is it just coincidence that the game before or just after playing WW these backs are rushing for huge yardage totals, but against WW can barely scratch 1 yard per carry?  I'm beginning to think not.  I think right now there is an enormus talent gap, most noticeable in the 2-deep, but throughout the rosters.  To say these players or the others mentioned in posts this week could play and be starters at WW is irrelevant because it's not going to happen.  A lot of these guys would probably want to play at WW because they want to win, but I would think WW wouldn't want them anyway because the Warhawks have a cohesiveness that seems to work perfectly just the way it is.

So long story short, thewayitis, I'm going to edit your comment by adding the following after the PERIOD, "except Whitewater."

And BTW, you can discover how the other conference foes can catch up to the Hawks from reading you synopsis of the Blue Devil season - get a quarterback, get an offensive game plan, get a coashing staff, and an offensive line.  Might want to add get a defensive line, linebackers, secondary, etc, etc, etc.

I don't feel I'm being harsh in my assessment, as it was the Blue Devil fans that collectively put their feet in their mouths, together, with their postings this week.

I wish you good luck this week.

UMHB scores with 1 min left & lead 33-28.  I guess they missed the 2 point conversion.  Sounds like they have a major hangover from last week.  Makes WW's win even more impressive.

Bobo, I am not trying to rip on UWW's performance, nor do I care to get into a pissing match.  I just would like to know how this makes UWW's win even more impressive.  Is it the fact that they held UWHB to only 3 points vs 33 from this week?  Because anyone could put a likey spin on it and say that UWW only scored 7 points via special teams whereas this week UMHB's opponet scored 28.  The fact that UWW and UMHB are playing two different teams could be the difference in the polar opposite outcomes.  Is it that UMHB had numerous injuries after the game with UWW?  Is it a hangover?  Is it the familiarity of the teams which led to a close game?  To me comparing UWW-stout vs UMHB-opponent is apples and oranges.  In sports, this type of things happens much to often, however, I don't see others making the reference to it being impressive.  Just wondering how you see it as imressive. (I could be wrong, and maybe I just need clarification to see it).

BTW, I drive a Chevy Lumina.

WOW, another defeat at UWSP. We got going too late in the game. I too give credit to how well Point has played down the stretch. We controlled Childs, but QB had big game. A late scramble set up a 4th Quarter touchdown, We failed on a 2nd quarter punt fake, setting up a SP touchdown. The officials took 10 seconds to take a fumble recovery from UWP. The list goes on. Point has won 3 games in a row after being 2-4 and showed a lot of Character.Hail  to the Pointer. Blessings !

One more thing I didn't want to edit into my post because it is a little off the topic.

In the off-season there was talk of the two Badgers (a RB and DB- i forgot their names and I am too lazy to find them) possibly transferring to UWW.  As we all know, it never happened and it really does not matter anymore now that the season is almost 3/4ths over.  Just to speculate....  How do you think those two could/would have contributed to the UWW team now?  Do you think they would be insignificant?  Do you think having a D1 RB would have helped after seeing Beaver's injury?  Do you think they would have just caused problems and possibly made the team worse?  I am just wondering, and it would be interesting to hear other's responses.

ok, sorry about the foul language.  might not have been appropriate.  but when some people like to single out a few others, there are always going to be biased opinions no matter who we are talking about.  But let me get this straight here.  Englebert and Wendt wouldn't see the field at UWW???  That is the most uneducated statement I have ever heard.  Have any of you been to the UW Stout games this year??  Not once, all year has Englebert had a whole to run through.  Not once all year has Wendt had a decent pass to catch.  All I am saying is that Englebert could have walked through the holes that WW RB's had yesterday.  If Wendt had a QB like WW, he would dominate.  If they had a coaching staff that could actually develop a balanced system like WW, those two would be at the top in the WIAC in their positions without a doubt.  Like I said before, you put Beaver, Stanley, or anyone else in the WIAC in the Stout offense and they would be no names.  It's a suprise that Englebert and Wendt have done what they have done considering the situations their great play caller's have put them in.  And one more thing....As far as WW RB's, they are pretty much like the Denver Broncos.  They are just products of the system.  You could plug in pretty much anyone at that position and they could put up numbers like Beaver or anyone else on their team.  Good coaching and a good offensive line means a lot.
