While my opinion is meaningless I very much would like to see the next WARHAWK head football coach be Stan Zwiefel and there are many other boosters who feel the same.  Stan bleeds WARHAWK purple, he's extremely competent, he's earned  it through his tireless dedication to the program and he deserves the opportunity.  Many of us are hoping the powers to be feel the same way.

...But in all fairness, there was a poster or two over the last few weeks that did not post their opinions nearly as diplomatic as you do so there maybe enough places to point fingers regarding that.  I personally am not looking for a dynasty although I wouldn't mind it.

"Apparently that quote was directed at me since I was one of the other stout posters.  Sorry that I talked about the talent levels and awards of the blue devil team."

Actually I was not referring to only Stout posters and didn't have any specific name in mind, believe it or not.  Note the words, "the last few weeks."  Just the general tone that happens week to week as the opponents change over the course of the season.  There has been chest-pounding done by other posters besides the WW ones, IMHO.  I am not defending any of it and try to avoid it myself (although not always successful, I'm sure,) letting the teams accomplishments do most of the talking.  Just saying that it is spread around at times.

I was wondering if any thought that the new changes with starting the clock once the ball is spotted (ex. after ints and such) has hurt players stats.  I was looking at the leading rushers last year and the leading rushers this year.
Last Year
Beaver 428    2420    5.7   172.9
Moriarty 278    1349   4.9  149.9
Anderson 281    1265    4.5   108.8
there were 2 others that didnt reach 1000 but had 970+

This Year with one game to go (plus playoffs for Whitewater and possibly LaCrosse)
Genslinger  188     934   5.0   103.8
Moriarty    197    921   4.7    102.1
Two others with 826 and 811.
I know Beaver would be over 1000 but last year had 3 guys well over 1000 and 2 guys that were close to 1000.   This year probably only 2 guys will go over 1000 and just barely.  And another 2 could possible get 900 but they need a decent last game.
Just thought it was interesting.

As to Coach B: If his position is not posted by a certain time, it can get filled by an interim coach. This could be a one year tryout for one of your present assistant coaches. God Bless You guys!

One of the present assistants may very well be the chosen guy.  Others closer to the Warhawks program have better ideas on possible successors, but I would be totally stunned if someone was hired on an interim basis as a "tryout" or for any other reason.  Professional football teams and highly visable D1 programs under intense scrutiny from the media choose coaches on an interim basis.  The common characteristic - they are beset with havoc of one kind or another.  Let me ask you, when was the last time a coach was hired on an interim basis when the departing coach was retiring and had made an announcement prior to the season starting???  I dare say it hasn't happened (if someone knows of an example, someone give them +karma) & this time won't start something new.  WW is far from a team in shambles. Hiring an interim coach in this situation would expose a very confused organization (unlikely, considering their overall success in recent years).  On the other hand, I believe they will be meticulous and thorough in their search and when they get their guy, will make the announcement. Looking ahead, the WW cupboard will have plenty of cups and dishes to begin the 2007 season.  Though they will begin with a new quarterback, WW will be for argument sake a strong pick as preseason #1 in the WIAC regardless of who is selected.  But with only 2 coaches in 50 years, I would surmise they will pick someone who will be there for many years to come.  But, that is not a concern now, all they are thinking about is how to beat RF this week and keeping their guys healthly.

If we pick an entire offensive line for WIAC Offensive MVP, what's next, an entire receiver corps, an entire backfield or on the other side of the ball, an entire secondary for Defensive MVP, and so on & so on???  I realize where you are coming from & it's a great idea, but the MVP Award is for one player, unfortunately, whether we like it or not.  Maybe the Warhawks can select the O-line as their team offensive MVP and D-line as their Defensive MVP.  That might be more meaningful to them anyway!!

Captain: I agree that coach Stan would be a good pick, or perhaps your defensive coordinator. The point is that the UW System hiring process is a long process. The longer you wait, the more likely you get an interim coach, who can apply for the permanent job. Lastly, the longer you wait the talent pool gets depleted. Enjoy your current ride, it will not last forever. God Bless You!

BoBo--I won't be betting anything, let alone the ranch, on RF this Saturday. I just hope it's entertaining from a Falcon standpoint--for a while at least. If it is, well, maybe the unlikely could come to pass. But it's a familiar feeling. I felt the same way when I traveled to St. John's way back in early September.

Nate Cook--what's your take on the offense switch?

Come on people, obviously I'm not working to hard today so lets get some trash talking going.  My UWP Alumni boss thinks I'm working, just like UWP thinks they can play FB.  Anyone miss UWRF old wishbone attack.   Those were the fastest games ever, off the bus, 1 hour of brusing FB, limp back to the shower, home before Happy hour.

Sure it was all fun and games for LB's. As a d-line man it sucked.  Every play was a 5'10" 275lbs guy in a 4 point stance run blocking.  I enjoy pass rushing at least once a game ;)

As they play as one unit, they can certainly be considered as one.  To be effectivek that is how they should be playing.  Go, Ooooooooos!! :) ;) :D ;D

From the number of posts today, this must be that day that nothing happened!  :-\  Or is everybody just saving themselves for a big tomorrow???
Kind of a lame way to get my century post, but I'll take it anyway I can  ;D

Lame, Bobo, but congrats on 100.  You'll be an addict in no time.

I can't believe how slow the WIAC board is today.  I hope it spices up some tomorrow.
