I'm the one who will be eating the dog food, as I had a wager with a co-worker :'(

After the Johnnies get up 13-0 the dogs just went and laid on the porch :-[

For anyone who wants to read about the train wreck that happened at Collegeville yesterday http://www.sctimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061112/SPORTS/111120025/1002

This will be a long uphill battle & I don't think this team has the "magic" that the road warrior team of 2000 had to get to Salem.

Best of luck to all the Play-off teams
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

LAX LB

I had the opportunity to finally see my Eagles in action Satuday against UWO and I wasn't impressed at all.   Here is why, the OL is to "FAT".  I understand that Offensive lineman aren't supposed to be lean and trim, but come on 6'4" and 340 is to big and it showed.   Their footwook look labored, and I could have ran a mile before they were able to pull outside.  My second observation, the DL is slow reacting to the OL and for how big UWL tackles are they were easily moved around by UWO.  Third point, find a long snaper with some zip on the ball, the exchange from the snapper to the punter reminded me of a softball pitch.  Finally the LB's need to remember that they play for UWL, a school with a rich tadition in having LB's with a nasty attitude and physical play.  The playoff's are here and they better show me something on Satuday.

There ain't much fight left in that dog. Bethel knows their place in the MIAC, which is just like when they were kids, looking for the New York Strip and settling for Vets canned dogfood & telling themselves it's almost the same because it's all in the "meat" group .

While I'm not sure what this is supposed to mean, if you doubt BU has what it takes to be a playoff factor just ask the SJU folks what they saw in Collegeville this weekend. It does remind me of a funny scene from Caddyshack, however.  "DOG FOOD! I'll show him dog food!"

A few observations....
What happened to Platteville?  3-2 5-3 overall and lose your last 2 games.  Maybe not as good as people thought they were.
Whitewater rolled through conference as expected.  Didnt think River Falls would give them a game and they didnt.
La Crosse had a good year. Steam rolled by Whitewater but bounced back nicely to hopefully make the playoffs.
Stevens Point looked bad to start the year but did what they had to do the last 4 weeks to finish in 3rd by themselves.  Could this mean a turnaround for the program after a down year last year?
River Falls probably had a season like everyone expected.
Eau Claire underachieved.  Thought they would be a lot better than what their record indicated.  Maybe players weren't adjusted to the new staff.  Might take a year or 2 to get the right players for their schemes.
Now for Stout.  To me.... Look like Tarzan play like Jane.... atleast for some of their supposedly talented players.  Nothing against those guys as people but they didnt play this year like Stout claims themselves to be.  And thats physical and tough.  I thought they would finish in 3rd before the year but this happpens once in a while.
I know Eau Claire just got a new staff but do you think their staff and Stouts staff are a little nervous about their jobs?
And input to all of this and lets hear peoples comments

Congrats to UWW and UWL for making 2 WIAC teams in theplayoffs.  it looks to me like the WIAC record will make a few more strides this year.

Anyone want to chime in on UW-LaCrosse's chances vs. Bethel?

DuffMan

I think LAX has a good chance beating Bethel.  Bethel is solid but predictable.  They're gonna come out and run the ball the majority of the time.  They have a very tough o-line and Porta, while he doesn't look like much, is a very good RB.  Their defense is very quick.

A tradition unrivaled...

National Champions: '63, '65, '76, '03

Personally, I would re-phrase the question, what is Bethel's chances against LaX (since LaX is the higher seed playing at home?)
Seriously, Bethel had a big road win vs SJU.  Going into Memorial Field will not be as hostile.  But, with all else being equal, my opinion is La X wins.  If QB Schumann has a decent game, minimizing turnovers and LaX can mix things up well, we will be looking at an All-WIAC second round at WW.
UWW must not overlook St. Norbert in the meantime, however.

Based on the results I've seen this year and Whitewater's performance last year I'd say both schools should be ranked 1 & 2 in the  region.  I don't think LaCrosse will have much trouble with Bethel.  I predict a 35 -7 outcome.  As a Johnnie fan I don't think this year  we would (or will) be  be able to hang with the top two in the WIAC. Maybe for a half or so, but our offensive is not as explosive as in the past and the defense would get worn down eventually by the bigger WIAC kids.  The MIAC is down this year.    I'd really like to see the West take out Mount Union and bring the Title back - best of luck to LaCrosse, Whitewater.

Seeing Bethel early in the year, I'd have to say LaCrosse should be favored and will more than likely come out on top.

Congrats to Whitewater and UWL on their bids...

Will be rooting for you both to represent the conference well in the first
round, come away with Ws, thereby setting up a round-two WIAC game...

It's unfortunate one team would have to knock the other out of the playoffs if that scenario plays out... but let's take care of the business at hand, the first-round games, first, gentlemen...

ihavesomething2say -
As a Blugold backer, I thought the 'Golds would finish at 6-4. I don't know if they underachieved, but they had a few close games that they didn't/couldn't finish for Ws...

Got hammered by two ranked teams from the conference, and lost in OT to a ranked NAIA team... Got beat by SJU, too, in what was the Johnnies' second closest margin of victory this season, 15-11, vs. a 14-12 W vs. Concordia-Moorehead...

What it boils down to, though, was the 'Golds, at  16.3 ppg, didn't put the points on the board...

I don't believe the staffers should feel nervous about their jobs, but I'm not really sure how that process works??? There were some new, first-year coaches on the staff, but most were in place before Coach Glaser took over... Not sure how much of a say he has, and if he can hand pick or make changes as he sees fit? For that matter, are most of them volunteers? Anyone know?? I don't think they are actually hired, per se???

Oh, and congrats to the Lady Blugolds soccer team, which is moving on to the NCAA sectionals with a win today... And to Whitewater's Warhawks, who beat the Lady Blugolds yesterday to advance in the NCAA volleyball tournament...

Superfan or any orange and blue,

Any talk in pville of a possible coaching change for next year ... it was rumored earlier this year that whitewater wanted to open up their offense with the spread and was lookin at the pville coachin staff for the replacement for Brez ... HAHA ... JUST KIDDING purple persons ... no but in all seriousness .. i know mikeys one year contract extension is up and this was a do or die season for him ... and does a 500 season do it with a so called rebuilding year for half the WIAC with only one seemingly solid team (WW of course, not STOUT) and pville had a team full of experienced seniors?? :-\ .. or does the administration feel more confident with his offense now that pville produced a thousand yard rusher for the first time in 15 years?? .. lets hear your take on the situation

Congratulations to Whitewater on two great regular seasons in a row.  Good luck in the first round of the playoffs!

I hope to be at the Bethel game Saturday.  Does anyone know what other teams got in in the West?
