Superfan or any orange and blue,

Any talk in pville of a possible coaching change for next year ... it was rumored earlier this year that whitewater wanted to open up their offense with the spread and was lookin at the pville coachin staff for the replacement for Brez ... HAHA ... JUST KIDDING purple persons ... no but in all seriousness .. i know mikeys one year contract extension is up and this was a do or die season for him ... and does a 500 season do it with a so called rebuilding year for half the WIAC with only one seemingly solid team (WW of course, not STOUT) and pville had a team full of experienced seniors?? :-\ .. or does the administration feel more confident with his offense now that pville produced a thousand yard rusher for the first time in 15 years?? .. lets hear your take on the situation

In all honesty, I would like to see a replacement.  I have heard him make a statement about being able to win once "his" recruits were seniors (the three years after he first took the position).  That was a few years ago, and he has yet to have a quality WIAC season (by quality, I mean >.500).  Kinder was removed as head coach for lack of production, and although he has had higher winning percentages than Kinder, he hasn't really produced.  So, if we judge on that criteria, he should go.  On other notes, I know that there were quite a few players that have not liked him as a coach (I am sure there were just as many that liked him), and I know of at least one action not very coach-like in his past (I will not post that material on this site).  However, I have a feeling he will be around next year.  I guess we will have to see what the AD has to say in a few weeks/months.

Your selections for the "skilled positions" are interesting & I agree with most.  I suggest you short-changed Beaver just because of the injury. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't believe there is a minimum number of games to play to be selected all conference.  It took all the other leading rushers 10 games (or 9 for the LaX duo) to put up net yards only slightly better than Beaver accomplished in 6.  The LaX pair weren't really in the total yards ballpark at the end, although Geldernick was coming on the stongest towards the end of the season.  The only games Beaver didn't rush for 100 were the NC games vs Lakeland and Azuza Pacific.  He was the only back to rush for over 100 in all conference games played in.  I would imagine had Beaver not been injuried, if he came close to his 6 game average for the rest of the season, he would have easily surpassed all other backs by 400-500 yards for the regular season.  Then, we probably wouldn't be having this debate; we probably would be talking about him being POY.  Of course, that is all hypothetical and has no bearing on anything.  I think you need to give the guy a bit more credit than simply HM!

RUSHING              GP  Att  Net   Avg   TD Long Avg/G    100/games

P.S.  You left off the TE.  Who are the leading candidates in your view?

Congratulations to Whitewater on two great regular seasons in a row.  Good luck in the first round of the playoffs!

I hope to be at the Bethel game Saturday.  Does anyone know what other teams got in in the West?

The West Region consists of St Johns, Central, Occidental, Whitworth, Bethel, LaCrosse, St Norbert and WHITEWATER.

Congrats to the Warhawks on another perfect season....and thanks to the Warhawk fans for supporting the team this year....doing some quick math....the Hawks averaged 5,993 per home game this year....that should be second in the country right behind St. John's (judging by last year's attendance numbers, page 5 of attached link)!

MR,

LaCrosse's rushing defense ranked 5th in the WIAC surrendering an average of 136 yards/game.   Their pass defense ranked 1st averaging 147 yards/game surrendered.  Overall, defensively, they finished the season ranked second to WHITEWATER with a  283 yard average.

Offensively they're pretty productive in the red zone with 23 touchdowns and 6 fieldgoals in 33 opportunities.

I don't know anything about Bethel so I can't really comment on either team's chances.  But LaCrosse is a solid team and other than the game against WHITEWATER they've been a difficult team to beat.

I agree with BadgerWarhawk that LaCrosse is a solid team and I really don't know much about Bethel except they run a lot and LaCrosse can be run on----Beaver proved that. The Warhawks must prepare for the rich boys from Norberts who I am sure are a much better team than we demolished last year. No slow start like River Falls need to jump on them right from the start and send them back to Green Bay so they can enjoy Thanksgiving in the manner they are accustomed. GO WARHAWKS! Beaver is the premiere back in the league... But I left him off in part because of his injury, and because he only had three TDs...His projected stats would put him up there, though...

However, Beaver did chew up the yards this year, and didn't need to score every week, seeings the Hawks have a powerful offense, and spread the ball around. I saw that in the UWEC game, where Beaver quietly put up more than 100 yards rushing, but didn't score... He didn't have to - Reuland, Schmitt and Stanley took care of that for Whitewater..

I gave the other backs recognition, because they were perhaps more valuable to their teams this season... Whitewater didn't miss a beat when Beaver went out and were able to adjust and run behind that great O-line...

However, if he's healthy, Beaver will play a key role for the Hawks as their season extends... You need to run the ball! He did last year, and in the playoffs, and this year, when healthy, so I think he'll once again show why he's an MVP.

The other backs I've mentioned, however, will be watching from the seats of their pants, since their seasons are over... And I'm sure Justin will take my "honorable mention" selection and post-season play, and a possible NCAA title, rather than being named first-team by the all-mighty me... ;)

Let's see - tight ends. Off the top of my head, I'd have to say Schmitt. But I did like one other player, Scott Osborne, who was UWEC's running back. But he played like a TE on pass plays, because he was converted to RB. Ha.

I do not think that Bethel has any chance against UW-LaCrosse.  The same goes for UWW vs. the Nubs.
I see UWL throwing all over them for 3-4 tds.
I see UWW running for nearly 350 yds.

It sucks that St. John's should make it to the Regional Finals with UWW, but the loss may have just played in their favor.

Bethel's secondary is the strongest part of their defense... What was your reasoning for thinking Lax can "throw all over them"?

I can see a pretty balanced attack from WW against Norbert's.... something like 225 on the ground and 255 in the air.

Same thing SJU fans said...The secondary is great for BU...they are quality backs...no way do they throw 4 TD's on BU's D.  Porta will run all over LAX's D behind one of the best O-lines in the country

Mighty Royal

Best O-lines in the country, thats a bold statement.

Catching UP: Off work for 2 days, so beware of frequent post. RALPH E: Coach E signed a 2 year extension just before the opener. I though he was in trouble as well, prior to this extension. He got credit for his close losses and his recruitment and academic achievement of the Team. God Bless you Guys!

To Bulk19: greetings, the better team won on Saturday. Hail to the Blue Golds. Good Summary of game by you. 2 key plays were UWP fumble going into end zone. Other key play was the EC fumble into the end zone, which should have been a touch back, giving ball back to UWP, with score still 7 down. You guys scored on the next play, making it 14-0. We did not play well. i do not ever recall so many dropped passes. We also did not stop you guys on 4th down, less than 50 percent! This is why ever team needs to bring the A Game every week. God Bless YOU!

MR, I would not say the secondary is great for BU.  If Gearman didn't drop the TD pass in which he had your DB beat by two steps and Lofboom didn't trip on the 15 yard line, that game would have been way more interesting--and Bethel still ran two plays to our one.  I think BU is very susceptible to the deep ball.  Bethel does a nice job of stopping any outside runs, though, because they are quick and flow really well.
