Duh  ::) ::) ::) Maybe it's time for your beauty sleep, J'Flash  :D

But BoBo, he's right.  I'm just glad that we have lived to play another day.  We had better play better this coming Saturday because I don't want to hear the Johnnies crowing if we don't!!  Go Warhawks!!!  Keep on track!!
Brownies for Film Day--Now there's a Slogan I can live with!!!:)  Go EAGLES!

J'Flash - WC's stadium is already acceptable since they played their today.  Plus, what Bulk19 said is that had UWL and SJU won, the game would be at UWL because WC didn't bid to host the game.  And I say that has nothing to do with it.  WC is not even playing, and oh, BTW, Spokane is 1,500 miles away from both schools playing.  UWL would host not because they would get the largest crowd (which they wouldn't) but because they are the higher seed.

This week, we can agree that both UWW and SJU want the home game.  But UWW is going to get it, not because they would have a larger crowd and so a bigger gate, but because they are the higher seeded team.  If we go on the logic of Bulk19 and KitchenSink, et al, the NCAA would pick a facility that had the greatest possibility for a larger gate or a guarantee for a higher gate. Why is there such a desire to win out during the regular season and getting a higher seed come playoff time - because you get the home game!! Everyone knows, that if UWW wins against SJU, they will be at home over either Wesley or UMHB because they are the higher seed.  I'm sure both of those fine institutions want the home game too...agreed??? They won't get it regardless of what they promise the NCAA.

Sorry man, I don't want to make this an argument, but you are 100% incorrect on this one. La Crosse would have hosted Whitworth, FOR SURE. Whitworth did not bid to host in the third round. That's the process. WW and LaX both did, it's that simple. The bid isn't about promising a certain amount of fans, it's about saying, "If we are still playing at this date, we will be willing to host a game if asked." I will have a La Crosse administration member call you to confirm it. You're right, you do earn the home field right, but you'd have to ask their administration why they didn't bid. Maybe they have other events and wouldn't have had the manpower to administer a game, I don't know their circumstances.

So, again, moot point cause both teams in question are out, but I'm 150% sure this was the case.

Bill McCabe

I have never understood why a team in the playoffs wouldn't apply to host a game.

retagent

As I have said in a previous post in response to the "disaster" of St John's losing to Bethel. They are right where they would have been had they been undefeated at this point, playing UWW at Whitewater.

Olinemom - Do the Warhawks crow differently than we Johnnies. Sorry to offend.

Whitworth didn't bid to host next week

Seriously!!??  Why would Whitworth choose not to host?  That's weird.

Not sure, maybe they didn't look this far ahead. I think you have to bid in early November a week or two before the playoffs start?

Not that is matters since SJU defeated Whitworth, but where did you hear this? I hadn't seen this mentioned anywhere (including on this website) unless I missed it somewhere.

This was true -- Whitworth did not file to host beyond the second round. We didn't mention it because it didn't end up impacting the bracket.

Bulk19 - The radio announcers may know their stuff, but they don't understand this  ::) ::) ::).  It's all hypothetical now, but had the Eagles won and SJU, UWL would host because they are the higher seed, not because Whitworth didn't put in a bid. Had WC and UWL won, the game would have been at Spokane because WC is the higher seed.

The radio guys got this right, Bobo.

Pat Coleman - thanks for clearing up the playoff hosting stuff...

I was sure that EagleAlum had heard correctly, and was pretty sure the UWL announcers who said UWL would be hosting a game next weekend were right, had the Eagles won... No, BoBo, they would not have had a UWL/SJU game at Whitworth! Duh. UWL would have hosted which ever team won...

BoBo - the UWL radio announcers know more about the playoff format than I do. Turns out you, too. They were correct. The play-by-play man has been around to broadcast many tournament football games, including a being on the call for a pair of UWL National Championships, so I think he knows what he is talking about and did his pregame homework...

I also recall that UWSP had to put in bids to host the NCAA hoops tournaments when the men's and women's teams both hosted games a few years back during their title runs...

Ok, lets lighten up on BOBO, this is his very first mistake, and I'm sure his last. BOBO is the man, and the king of WW---so sayeth the flash.

Should be a great game and an awesome tailgate at the Perk. Goo Crew is going with Italian Beef, Sausage, and Chili and maybe a few Bloody Marys to fight the cold...The Oline must/will continue to open gaping holes for #32 or whoever. POUND THE ROCK and FLUSH THE JOHNS.......

Okay, I guess SJU will just concede the game, then.
