GBill$,

How good was Whitewater when the Johnnies stomped them 42-18 with their backup quarterback in 2002?

I don't know the answer to this but I am trying to understand the relevance of a 2002 game played 4 years ago!  Oh, I know.  You Johnnies really love your history.  ;)

It's a lot more relevant than GBill$'s claim that SJU has a history of "choking" despite having won a National Title in 2003 and breaking MUC's record win streak in the process!

I can understand how a school without as proud of a history would be so quick to forget it.

I think the Johnnies will hold onto the ball this year and come out a lot stronger.  I'm going to go with:

SJU - 14
UWW - 10

You're going to hold our offense to 10 points?  Good luck with that!!!

Strong words from a guy whose team lost by 13 to Mount Union in the season they had their first regular season loss since 1994!

Since when did we lose by 13???  You might want to check that score again.

Kilted Rat

Ok 7 points, either way you still got the L.

Like I said, You loovvveee your history!

Why wouldn't we when there's so much to love?

I'm also a Packers fan so I doubly love my history.

I can't say I'm real optimistic about a Johnnie victory, but I do remember several posts like this in 2000 and 2003, except from Mount Union fans. In fact, if I look at my well-worn copy of The Sweet Season (a great history book for those of us stuck in the past), there's a part that reads, "When a St. John's supporter came in and suggested that the Johnny defense might hold Mount Union under twenty points, he was mocked. 'Twenty points,' riposted one poster. 'You're not going to hold us under 30!'

Of course they were held to 10 that game. And in 03, a week after Mount put up, what, 66 against some poor schlubs, the Johnnies held them to 6. And in '93, SJU held them to 56 ;)

Okay, let's be real here.  Nobody, and nobody (USC, Notre Dame, Mount Union included) can say the things that St. John's can say about the history of their program.  I SAY THIS LOOKING AT THE BIG PICTURE!!! Duff Man clearly pointed this out in it's abundence.  There is a lot of good stuff in his post, none of which was earned through bragging in a chatroom.  They are good team, and better yet, they are perenially a good team.  This means they have a solid football program.  Even in their worst years, St. John's kicks a lot of ass.

Whitewater's success on the National scale has only been recent.  In Whitewater's defense, prior to this year and last year, Whitewater did play the last game of each of the previous two season with a conference title vs. La Crosse on the line.  Both times UWW came up short.  As short as Whitewater's success may seem, those involved within the Whitewater program do believe that if it weren't for such a difficult WIAC schedule, the Warhawks could have an even stronger experience in the playoffs over the past 5 seasons.  Still, 5 good seasons doesn't compare to St. John's history.

St. John's is more reputable.  But we're not playing this Saturday for bragging rights over whose history is stonger.  St. John's wins that arguement all day versus anybody.  The game on Saturday is being played to see who is the best team in 2006.  Hopefully, we can all agree that on when I say that this is all that truely matters.  Good luck to both teams.

I believe that Whitewater will win, and hopefully the past couple of seasons that Whitewater has experienced starts to become a re-occuring trend at Whitewater.  That would make me a very proud alumnus, as it has for all of you former Johnnies at St. John's.

Why not?  Oshkosh held you to 17 and UMHB held you to 7.  It wouldn't surprise me at all.

That might be the first bit of sense that I've seen on the WIAC board!

I see a close game if both teams play solid football.  If SJU "performs" like they did last year at UWW, the game won't even be close.

I don't think SJU can hold WW to 10 points.   :P

The winningest program in D-III history with only 2 National Titles?

It's actually rather sad.  I would be a little sensitive too if I came from such a long line of choking.

Most of all, thanks for proving to America that you St. John's fans (Alumni) have the collective i.q. equal to a set of silverware.

I really can't believe you took the bait, but, it was just too easy.

If you made any sense, I might give your post more thought.

If you were smarter than a fork, my post might make more sense.

I set you up and you fell for it, Mr. Dumass.  And that (I can't believe I have to explain this) was my entire point regarding the intellect of Johnnie nation.  Wouldn't have had to do it if you all didn't come on the site talking stupid.

Your last title was a fluke, St. John's is over.

This will be my last post ever, so don't ever bother with your "witty" rebuttals pasted directly from the St. John's Website.

Lord knows it will take over a week for you to think of something original.

It's amazing how "Dolla-Bill" can name call and not have anything substantive to contribute. And I find it ironic that someone would call someone else a DUMBA$$, and misspell the word. Try MO-RON.

Also, the "b" in dumb silent.  Just to let you know for future reference.
