This will be my last post ever, so don't ever bother with your "witty" rebuttals pasted directly from the St. John's Website.

All Johnnies posters...  Where have we heard THIS before???   Ala Bethel-on-the-sly poster Scrubby !!!  Always promising, rarely delivering.... ah, those were the days? ::)

I think the Johnnies will hold onto the ball this year and come out a lot stronger.  I'm going to go with:

SJU - 14
UWW - 10

You're going to hold our offense to 10 points?  Good luck with that!!!

Why not?  Oshkosh held you to 17 and UMHB held you to 7.  It wouldn't surprise me at all.
Well, since Bethel held SJU to 13 and UW-EC held them to 15, I guess it will be a low scoring game.

That might be the first bit of sense that I've seen on the WIAC board!

Wow Duff, that really hurts me... must be my spelling ;D

Okay, let's be real here.  Nobody, and nobody (USC, Notre Dame, Mount Union included) can say the things that St. John's can say about the history of their program.  I SAY THIS LOOKING AT THE BIG PICTURE!!! Duff Man clearly pointed this out in it's abundence.  There is a lot of good stuff in his post, none of which was earned through bragging in a chatroom.  They are good team, and better yet, they are perenially a good team.  This means they have a solid football program.  Even in their worst years, St. John's kicks a lot of ass.

Whitewater's success on the National scale has only been recent.  In Whitewater's defense, prior to this year and last year, Whitewater did play the last game of each of the previous two season with a conference title vs. La Crosse on the line.  Both times UWW came up short.  As short as Whitewater's success may seem, those involved within the Whitewater program do believe that if it weren't for such a difficult WIAC schedule, the Warhawks could have an even stronger experience in the playoffs over the past 5 seasons.  Still, 5 good seasons doesn't compare to St. John's history.

St. John's is more reputable.  But we're not playing this Saturday for bragging rights over whose history is stonger.  St. John's wins that arguement all day versus anybody.  The game on Saturday is being played to see who is the best team in 2006.  Hopefully, we can all agree that on when I say that this is all that truely matters.  Good luck to both teams.

I believe that Whitewater will win, and hopefully the past couple of seasons that Whitewater has experienced starts to become a re-occuring trend at Whitewater.  That would make me a very proud alumnus, as it has for all of you former Johnnies at St. John's.

I think you make a lot of good points.  Whitewater has had a very good recent run, and has a hell of a team this year, just like they did last year.  Keep in mind, I put in writing that I think UWW will beat SJU this week (the only poster to "go against team lines" so far, I believe).  I'm not sure what will happen after Berezowitz, Jacobs, Kleppe, and Stanley are gone, but with Beaver back next year there is only so far they could fall.

That said, a lot of teams rise and fall.  I don't need to tell you about UW-LaCrosse having spurts of national prominence and some pretty substantial rebuilding stretches.  Pacific Lutheran won the D3 title their first year of inclusion in the playoffs, but have really fallen off in the last couple years.  Even Mount Union, before they became MOUNT UNION!!!, had a pretty good run of lean years.

The point is, any year there is a handful of teams that can compete with SJU--and this year UWW is certainly that and more--and SJU's history has nothing to do with who is going to win the game this Saturday.  But every year you know that St. John's is going to be mentioned on the short list of teams with a chance to be there at the end.

And if your school had the unique history that St. John's has--perennially leading D3 in attendance, having the most prominant D3 MVP award named after your coach and presented by your booster club, etc.--wouldn't you be proud of your school?

I'm going to predict that the team that scores the most points will win on Saturday.

All this nicey nice crap is getting on my nerves. Everyone know down deep, the game will probably be an even worse butt kicking than last year. I was bored watching the game last year, and went uptown in the middle of the 3rd quarter and watched the rest of the fumbles on tv.

I fully expect to go to the car for beer at half time, with the game already decided, and go on to the the warm bar again.

Just thought I would put in my two cents. It should be a close game throughout. Although Whitewater's defense has been solid the majority of the season (13th nationally), they haven't necessarily been playing their best on that side of the ball lately (16 points to River Falls, 17 to St. Norbert, 21 to LaCrosse). Although these number seem pretty good, they aren't what they were when Whitewater played earlier in the season.

I say St. John's will get a few scores, but Whitewater's ability for the big play will be too much. Pick your poison of who to stop on offense. Whitewater may have been held to 17 and 7 points, but they average 39 points per game.

But yet again, you never know.

I can't wait to go to the game and see Beav in action.

Comparing SJU defense to UMHB is comparing apples and oranges.  SJU defense just doesn't match up against our offense.  We have 21 by half minimum. Phone that in!!!

Why do I have the feeling that you've never seen UMHB play and that the only time you've seen SJU play was last year at UWW?

UWW ain't got $hit other than big egos.  You can shove that phone up your a$$.
