Linfield was a hell of a challenge.  Even today I find myself wondering how in the hell we managed to win that game.  WARHAWK backers will never forget it.   I wasn't able to attend in person but a large group of us had gathered at a favorite watering hole to listen to the radio broadcast and went wild.

I've deliberatly avoided any predictions and I'm not that into smack so I've tried to stay out of that as well.  But I do think this weekend's game is anything but a pushover.  St Johns isn't going to turn the ball as many times as last year and they have a good team.  LaCrosse exposed a weakness in our defense.  St Johns has the tape.  Gigliandi is going to have a good offensive plan and exploit the same things that LaCrosse did.  I'm just hoping that they don't have the defensive horses to hang with our offense and we'll outscore them.

ATN is up at d3football and even Keith is on UWW side, "When you have to match scores with a multi-talented Whitewater offense, now complete with a healthy Justin Beaver, it would take a mammoth effort from the Johnnies D to pull the upset. UW-Whitewater 28, St. John's 17".

A "mammoth effort" on D - and an error free day on O.  Well, if that's what it takes then.

So now that the experts pick Whitewater and give their reasons in ATN, does that mean the people hwo picked UWW to win are all geniouses?

No, just realistic. The odds are against St. John's. But obviously this is why the game is played. Everyone knows if St. John's wins, it's a heck of an upset and proves they can beat one of the best. It's kind of a win, win for them.

I just hope the snow ends before the game so the field can get worked on. It's amazing to think that Whitewater is the only college team left whose home field has real grass.

UWW is the only college team left in the playoffs, that is, to have real grass...

Technically they are a University not a college.  8)

I often agree with Badgerwarhawk and I will again.....first the Linfield game was the best college game I have ever attended and it showed one thing about this team -----they will not give up. Second are pass defense has been somewhat suspect but over the year it has improved .....St. Johns has in my opinion has a very average pass defense and I believe they will have a very difficult time keeping up with #2,#84,#1,#85 and #8. As was said St.Johns will not make 8 or 9 turnovers this year and hopefully the Warhawks got all their turnovers out of their system.  I have no predictions either but in a few weeks I would like to be in the Marriott in Roanoke again drinking Miller Lite.......POUND THE ROCK and FLUSH THE JOHNS......

I would not put too much into the Eau Claire comparison.

St. Johns/Eau Claire first game of the season for both teams.

UWW/Eau Claire game. Carleton could have won that game with the turnover/ field position given to WW in the first half.

Not meant as a knock on WW but not a good comparison of these two teams potential now.

I'll see for myself this weekend.

You coming to the game?

I'll be easy to spot.....I'll have purple on.
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Badgerwarhawk, you need to take the Stratus for a little spin someday.  Don't be so bashful.  You have the right to talk some junk on here.

Anyone coming from Chicago Friday evening and returning after the game on Sat.?

I need to get my son from Loyola University to Janesville and back to Chicago after the game.

Please PM me if you can help me out.

That, I can agree with.  They show flashes of brilliance, but mostly scare the hell out of me.  The key is pressuring the QB.  We've got some stellar defensive linemen; you've got some awesome offensive linemen.  Should be a good battle in the trenches!

That will be interesting because our OLine is the best I have seen in the last 5 years......and when you lost your stud lineman last year you lost a lot. I remember two of our offensive lineman saying that he was the best defensive lineman they ever played against....

DuffMan

Yes, you're thinking of Dumonceaux.  He was a stud, and is helping coach the d-line this year.  Gunderson is the guy this year.  He's only a sophomore, but he's built the same way Dumonceaux is only 4 inches taller.  He's had a great year, and will be downright scary in the coming years. :o

I wouldn't worry about Gunderson, though.   The team is weak as a new born baby.   I would start prepping mentally for the next week against the southern champ.  Nothing to see here, folks.  Move along...

My only honest observation, that has not already been said, is that more Johnnies might show up for the game than Warhawkfans. Attendence , for Playoff games was very poor,1600 and 3000! Have safe traveling and enjoy a good game.God Bless!

Getting back to the UWW-Linfield game last year, that was one for the ages. We enjoyed meeting the great Whitewater fans tailgating in the parking lot, too, and were impressed with how well you guys traveled.

That was a game that you truly hated to see either team lose. Two outstanding programs with two well-coached teams. I hope you have a game as exciting this Saturday. I expect to see you in Salem.
