We are still on the other side of the storm here in Ohio.  One added bonus of having a 200 man roster (with only 52 on the play-off roster), is there is a great supply of "cheap" labor to clear the field by game time.   ;D

How can you have a 200 man roster I thought everyone was limited to 100

The 100 player roster limit is a WIAC thing not the NCAA.   Prior to the dictate we had programs with over 100 on the roster too.  The NCAA does dictate the 53 man roster for the playoffs because they are paying for it.  St Johns also has more than 100 players on their roster during the regular season.

I take it the previous poster is a MUC person as he said he was from Ohio.

Uhhhh...where did you get that idea?  Ask SJU how many are on their roster during the regular season.  Maybe your conference has that roster limitation, but it's not an NCAA rule.

Yes that would be correct BW!

Another added advantage for MUC and SJU.  There must be alot of locker sharing.

I don't know about the other WIAC schools but at WW the roster size of some programs has also been  impacted by Title IX and gender equity issues.  Another issue the privates don't have to deal with.

BW, private schools are still subject to Titile IX rules.

If a school receives ANY federal assistance (Pell Grants for example) they have to comply with Title IX to recieve them.  Virtually every private school in the country receives some federal funding.  There's only a handful of schools in the country (Harvard, Yale, etc.) that have enough of their own money that they could ignore federal dollars and ignore Title IX.  They still comply however based on the principle of Title IX.

Just looked at local Whitewater weather...says snow letting up but near blizzard conditions with 15-30 MPH winds throughout the day.  It is going to be worth the trip just to see if the grounds crew and the city can move that much snow.  I just hope the storm doesn't do one those wrap-arounds.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that and I stand corrected.

Bill: As I understand it, Hillsdale College declines federal funding of any kind.

Thanks for the info.  I would wager that Hillsdale still strives for Title IX compliance even so.

SJU is not affected by Title IX because it is a men's university.  A normal year for SJU has the roster at around 170 or so, and there is no locker sharing.  If there are more players than lockers, they ask some second-year players not to come out for the team again.

Getting the field cleared off is not too difficult.  The stands are the tough part to clear.

Technically, you could say that St. John's is in compliance with Title IX since their ratio of male to female athletes (100% to 0%) is equal to their ratio of men to women in their student body (100% to 0%).   ;)
