Congratulations on another West Region title to the UWW Warhawks-keep it rolling & bring the Stagg Bowll Championship beck to the West!

+K to the Janesville flash for the beer!

+K to BDB for the mug!
As of now they're on DOUBLE SECRET Probation!

Congrats WW and SJU for a toughly contested ballgame.

WW.....one more for each and Round II is on!

Jorris sitting on the bench was not due to injury.  Coach Kehres works in mysterious ways that even his most ardent fans find perplexing on occasion.  It was windy, Jorris threw a stare-down interception that almost came back the other way for a TD, and Micheli was running very well.  Mount threw 7 passes in the whole game, 6 in the first half.

Good luck next week WW.

Then, the following play, Kleppe makes a TFL, gets up and puts his hands in the air, and receives a warning for celebration.  That's crap, I know there is a sportsmanship rule in college football about drawing attention to yourself, but he was not doing that.  The kid got absolutely hosed on a call the play before, and instead of complaining about the call he doesn't say a word, lines up and destroys the next play, and gets warned for showing enthusiasm.

And on the next play, he jumped offsides!

On the replay, the Johnnie player landed on top of him with his hands in the air.  Kleppe always picked the Guard's left shoulder and rushed that way.  There appeared to be the obligatory inside-the-shoulders stuff going on (which is rarely called as holding), and Kleppe ran himself (with a little help) into the ground, then got piled upon.  It was a judgment call for the officials, and unless their judgment was skewed one way (when both teams complain about the lack of judgment calls going their way, you know that is not the case), you really can't complain about officiating.

Kleppe is a good player-- SJU did a poor job of adjusting to his rush, as I noted, he rushed himself to the same shoulder every time.  He has a quick move and that made a great difference, as he was able to get by the SJU guard often enough on that same move.  In the fourth quarter, the SJU guard figured that he could force Kleppe to that side and run him right out of relevance.  But he made enough of a difference during the first three quarters to call him dominant.  Caveat: how many offsides did he have?  I believe the UWW announcers noted at least four.  S\o he may have had tackles for loss for 20 some yards, but gave 20 back up free.

Good luck next week to UWW-- represent the West well!

Congrats to the UWW Warhawks on winning back-to-back West Region Championships!

Hell of a game to listen to and from the parts of the webcast I could see on my pirated wireless connection, it looked like it would have been an even better game to be at!

Kleppe is an animal. I was able to watch about 10% of the plays, and I can't remember seeing a single play where he was fully blocked and out of the play by 1 or even 2 men. He is a force to be reckoned with!

Best of luck to the Warhawks on the rest of the season! I'll be rooting for you, now if you'll excuse me, I have a large steaming portion of crow and a slice of humble pie to go swallow :-\
Now accepting new patients. All bills must be paid in scotch shortly after any services rendered.  Sorry TDT, no problems below the waist.

actually he has a very strong move back inside. it is a spin where he speed rushes the guards outside shoulder and spins back inside. he got at least 1 of his sacks and 1 hurry with that move. He has an explosive 1st step and a good knack for getting off the ball (and missing a few times on the offsides) which makes him tough to block

Your trying to tell me that Jorris who had one of the best seasons in DIII this year got benched in a 7-7 playoff game for throwing a stare down pick? ..... prolly not buying that one.  I suppose having their backup run for 100+ was all just part of the game plan  ::)

If that kid is healthy he's not sitting on the bench in a 7-7 playoff game.

skunks_sidekick

Believe what you want....but he is completely healthy.

Kleppe should be kept in a cage between games so he doesn't hurt people around campus.

LMAO, thanks now I've got to clean the coke off my monitor. ;)

The grounds crew did an excellent job.  Considering the conditions the footing was pretty good.  The NCAA official on hand commented that few NCAA schools would go to the extent that our staff did to prepare a field for play.  Great job guys.

The officiating was what it was after all the crew was from Iowa. ;)

The one that really made you shake your head came when one official flagged St John's for intentional grounding because the pass did not get past the line of scrimmage and was over ruled  by another official who was on the opposite side of the field and nearly 50 yards from the play.  The ball clearly had gone out bounds short by at least 2-3 yards and he was in no position to change his partner's call.  I have no idea what he was thinking.

Kleppe wasn't going for a grave-digger, although that would have been AMAZING, lol... He will usually just move his arms like he's signally an incomplete pass as to say..
"NOT IN MY HOUSE" great job by the warhwawks, and good job by SJU giving the warhawks a good game...
As much as these games are  nail-biters at the Perk, i enjoy them much more than watching whitewater win by 20-30 points a game

"Our two quarterbacks, Mike Jorris and Greg Micheli, are doing a great job for us with our style of play.  The flow of the game usually dictates how much we use each quarterback." -Coach Kehres in the conference call prior to this past week's game against Capital.

Coach Kehres isn't afraid to use the two quarterback system and with two excellent quarterbacks who each bring a different skill set to the table, he'll use whoever he thinks will give the Raiders the best chance at winning the game. Saturday that was Micheli, Next Saturday it could be Jorris or it could be Micheli or it could be both.  And while Jorris is a good quarterback, he has struggled at times this season and Micheli has been able to step in and play well hence why Coach Kehres isn't afraid to use both.
The impossible CAN happen and eventually it WILL happen.

+ Karma to the grounds crew for getting it ready to play.  Is there any other natural grass field in D3 that would have been ready to play on after a snow storm like that this week???  I doubt it!!

according to the PA announcer your karma should be directed to the Warhawk  Baseball team!!

I was including them as part of the grounds crew!

This last week against St. John's, we (the students) chanted an expletive and were told that the team would receive a 15 yard penalty if we did it again.  We continued to chant and nothing happended.  Does anyone know if this is a real penalty, or were we just threated so we would shut up???

It is a real penalty.

My senior year at SJU when I was in the rat pak, late in a game that we were dominating against Crown or Nowthwestern or some other scrub NCCAA school a buddy and I got bored. We went down to the field and went to the 30 yard line where Crown had the ball. We had been drinkin for about 7 hours by this point in time and I had a trumpet.
While I blared the trumpet, my buddy repeatedly yelled "hut...hut hut...hut hut hut" while the Crown QB was trying to audible.
Following the play, the side judge came over and said if we didn't stop it, SJU would get a 15 yard penalty. That was enough for me, so I went back to the stands, but my buddy thought better and continued. It's a 15 yard penalty and then campus security escorts you out of the stadium.  :o
