I don't think this week Stanley will play DB, that is unless Clarke is just too fast for our DBacks. Blaze and Gabe have been holding their own, but I'm assuming they know they need to step up this Saturday. I think our safeties are just as important though, too.

If UW-W makes it to Salem, I wouldn't be surprised if DStan took some defensive reps for that week. We don't have anyone who can keep up with Garcon, so maybe DStan will come in on passing situations or something. That'd be nice. Then again, if Whitewater wins this week, they may have to gear up for SJF. Who knows...

Whitewater likes to run those slot screens with Mrkvicka. Neil does a great job with the YAC's, but I think giving Stanley one or two of those screens would be effective. Again, that's why my rear end is parked in the bleachers and not on the sidelines. Anyway, I guess the moral is for the next two weeks; get the ball in the hands of your best players and let them go to work. If it so happens it doesn't work, then we know that we weren't the best team in D3 this year.

I think Wesley gives UWW a run for their money. I don't see why all kinds of people on the Daily Dose blogs seems to think Whitewater will handle them easily. Last time I looked they scored 34 on UMHB and won by two touchdowns while Whitewater couldn't score offensively and won 7-3 against UMHB (albeit without The Beav.)

Wesley didn't get to the semis by just showing up on the field.  They'll be leaving their skates at home this year and given that fact, I fully expect this to be a dogfight and should come down to one or two big plays by one team or the other.  This won't be a game where the Hawks can rely soley on their defense either, as they did against LaX and the Johnnies.  The offense is really going to have to step it up a notch if we want to be playing in the A.S. Bowl again this year.  With all that said, good luck to both teams and GO HAWKS!! ;D
You can't have everything.....Where would you put it?

Once again we had almost 500 yards of offense in the LaCrosse game.....Simply what is wrong with that. I agree Stanley needs to be utilized better but let's be concerned about areas that need improvement.....

Dogfish Offer.

Guys or gals.  I have a 6:00 flight in the morning to Madison, so, if someone wants to take me up on my offer, the latest i'll check this site is probably 11:30 p.m. tonight when I get back from a hockey game.  Let me know that your interested and we'll set up the exchange before the game or after the game.  It is really a nice peace offering as far as I see it.  I know I'll be cheering for Wesley to win, but i'll appreciate a good Warhawk victory too, beside there are only 2 D3 game tomorrow!

KennethK

Chris Warrick is having an excellent year for Wesley.  220 for 363..3240 yds.  Can Chris avoid the pressure from Kleppe and the boys?  If I read the stats correctly..looks like Wesley has given up 33 sacks this season.  The Hawk from four is the best in country.  Pressure on  QB might be the key.

That's the beautfiul thing about the Hawks! There aren't a TON of areas where they need improvement (obviously, nobody is perfect and there is always room for improvement). It's the 15th week of the season, I think that everyone knows where their teams need to improve. I think this week is less about "improving" than it is about playing their best football possible. It's hard to find one outlandish weakness with Whitewater. The closest thing is the secondary - and even they're pretty good.

This isn't the warhawkfootball.com website, so a little post pattern entry on certain topics can be an interesting read.

I think KennethK is dead on with that assessment. Kleppe has been a monster this year, but this will be the game we need him the most (as of now, at least). Hopefully Alex Thompson (the other DT) has the club off of his hand, because you can just tell he isn't really the same since he broke his hand.

If you were playing SJU, I'd take you up on it.  No way I'm driving to Whitewater ;D

What's impressive is that the warhawks haven't played their best ball the past 2 weeks, but are still able to win against quality opponents.  That is the sign of a great team.  I look for them to put things together this week and play their best all around game in weeks.  Hard to read Wesley as they have beaten up on basically the same (lousy??) teams this year as last, with a few exceptions, but Wesley's UMBH game concerns me. However, playing on grass in cold weather I think will be a clear WW advantange.  Wesley has played nearly all their games on field turf at home.  They kind of remind me of the Vikings of a few years ago - made for a dome environment with speed, put them outdoors on grass and they can't beat a pee wee team.  Getting off to a fast start on offense and playing from a lead is another key for WW.  Wesley has been behind before and come back to win easily, as late as the Dickinson game in round 1, however, they have not played from behind against a quality team like WW.  And like last year. if they fall behind in the cold, no fans in the stands, they could easily wilt again.  More to come...

Thanks!

My parents also live in the "boondocks" of Wisconsin.  My mom called our cable provider (Dish Network) to see if they are carrying the game.  She was told that the game would air on CSTV (Which is channel 152 at our location)  I'm assuming that CSTV is College Sports?  Not sure.

This is just what our local provider told my parents, not sure if it is true or not.  Anyone else have info on this?

Wesley QB's have been sacked 11 times this year but they have not all been Warwick. Wesley's second and third teams have played a lot more this year and that attributes to some of the sacks.
The Wesley D has 33 sacks.
Your fans are no different from any others when it comes to thinking Wesley isn't on a par with your Warhawks. But like most other teams after the games you may be shaking your heads in disbelief too.
If the Warhawks take Wesley ligthly they will not stay with the Wolverines .
Wesley is not built on speed alone this year. Nine different recievers caught passes last week. And J. Robinson had 40 yrds rushing in one seriers with the game on the line. So the can run the ball if they have to.
Wesley's D has stopped two teams with two 1000 rushers each the last two weeks. Holding the ball against them is a good idea if you can keep it for all 60 mins. They actually held T.O.P. advantage last week. They score from anywhere on the field so the D sometimes is out there a long time which has accounted for some of point againsts

I look for a great game on Sat. Good luck to both teams .

 Go Wolverines!!!!

This was posted on the Daily Dose message board and I thought it was great but then I am completely biased.   ;D
Hope the poster doesn't mind that I moved it over here for all to read.

"Gentlemen...

Since I was at the SJU-UWW matchup and have since talked with the coaches of SJU allow me to shed a little light on the game that might be viewed as a little more credible than others...by the way SJU coaches did say that this years UWW team is better than the two MUC teams they played in the STAGG BOWL...

1st of all...UWW'd defense is very very good...they can stop another teams running game with just their front 7. SJU coaches told me that Kleppe is as talented a DT as they had seen...their linebackers flow to the ball VERY well...you can throw the ball against them but you need solid pass protection, you can move the ball, but its not easy to do...the Johnnies played very well that game and still made crucial mistakes that the Warhawks used to slip away with the win.

With the UWW offense, first of all Jacobs did not have a good day, he was off just a bit at times had some happy feet, which is unusual...Stanley is for real, if you do not give him room he will run past you...the TE is very good, very underated. What you have to realize is the SJU defense is very assignment orriented...the each do their job, which is why Beaver had troubles running against them, if Wesley has even a few breakdowns this will get ugly...

A wise coach once told me that teams are a little better or a little worse than they were the past year...so my prediction goes like this: UWW 38 Wesley 14...close for a while but ugly in the end.

oh and as for MUC...they will win, its what they do...31-3"

fbf413,

Enjoy the game this week and good Luck! I will be hoping for a well played injury free game.

Peace!
Only at a D3 football game could you have 2 seats on the 50 yard line (2 rows behind bluenote) and have an obstructed view!
I love D3 Football!!!

Thanks alot, Tuxguy.  We are hoping for a "well played, injury free game," that results in a win for the Hawks!  Hope the reloading will go great for the Cat's next year.  I read about your son's great year.  Congrats and be proud!

It sounds like great weather for Saturday, mid 30s and sun. Does not get any better than that for this time of year. This could reduce the cold weather factor for the game. blessings!

Do you think Wesley just got their players by pulling them out of the hallway?
