I'm as befuddled by the AFAC's picks as anyone here ???  Just out of curiosity, does the AFAC pick a 2nd, 3rd, honorable mention team as well?  If they do, I'd be real interested to see who winds up where.
You can't have everything.....Where would you put it?

Badgerwarhawk, I agree all of the players I know would rather have the Stagg Bowl trophy but it is not an either or situation they can have both and some of them would deserve both if they win Saturday. A pox on the AFCA.....

We Mount fans feel your pain WW fans.  It sure doesn't look like a fair representation of the talent in D-III.  I wonder if their is bias towards seniors or something?

From our perspective - there is no way Kmic isn't on that team, or Lewis for that matter.  And what about Kostelnick in the D-backfield?

On another note, to get a glimpse of who Larry Kehres is, and how a guy that has coached (and won) as long as he has thinks, go to the OAC board and read the article from the Akron Beacon Journal.  The writer is a guy named Terry Pluto who is somewhat of a superstar sportswriter around these parts.  He has written many books regarding Cleveland pro sports, and is generally considered one of the best of the best.

One last thing.....hmmm...seems like both teams might be playing things pretty close to the vest regarding injuries huh?   ;D

After 14 weeks of football Whitewater has some banged up people but I am sure Mount Union does also......Can't imagine why you would let the other side know about them.....and I won't....

You must mean Rueland... He broke and dislocated his ankle.  I could have swore that was clearly stated on the injury report.  ;D

This is my last post for a while because this whole process is getting somewhat disgusting. Some guy from Alma(a college in Michigan for those who don't know like me) won the Gagliardi. Alma was 6-4 this year with an overtime win over Eau Claire and they also beat TriState who Whitewater doesn't play any more because it was embarrassing. I am sure he is a wonderful young man and a great QB at Alma but really what does that mean........Simply what it means is Kleppe lost to a guy from Alma. I guess this year so far there is a trend for schools who are not dominant or football powers to get there young men awards whether they are the best or not. What do you think Kleppe would have done against the Alma offensive front and what would there award winning QB done against the Whitewater defense. Enough about all this crap it is time to get to the Marriott in Roanoke and POUND THE ROCK with are excellent but unheralded football team......

Olinemom,

I do not know yet if I will be able to get to the Corn Beef and Co. on Friday, but will give it a try.  I will be with the team, and the one with a camera hanging on his neck.  I will make a point of finding you sometime during the weekend.  Maybe I can trade you some extra brownies for a copy of the photo with you and Brez.

Thanks.  I would love that photo.  Sounds like I'd rather be where you are going to be Friday.  But I am trying to get a ticket to the lunch on Friday so maybe I will see you there as well.  If Kleppe wins G., I want to get a ticket to that lunch too, but have no idea how to get a ticket to that.  Looking forward to seeing all WW fans this weekend. :) ;) :D ;D

Olinemom,

I know you're a big Pete Schmidt fan and I came across this article in today's paper and thought you might like to see it.

I don't know the whole of D3 football well enough to know if the players selected to the AFCA's All American team are more deserving than some of our players or not but no WARHAWKS on the team at all with all the talent we have is absurd.  However, while the honor is a nice one, I suspect, to a man, our players would rather be playing in the Stagg Bowl then sitting home on Saturday polishing their plaque.

Congrats to those selected, I hope you enjoy the game. ;)

Thanks for the link!!  I enjoyed reading the article.  It would be great to see him playing at the next level like Heath Miller who plays for Pittsburg.  See you this weekend?

Defensive guys in general have a hard time winning major national awards. That's unfortunate.

Too bad....Kleppe was a great fit. This and the ridiculous AFCA picks will help give the Warhawks a little edge for the game......

Sakman,

For WW sake I hope that none of the 'hawks players need to use who the AFCA picks for their AA team for an extra edge.  Playing for the title against the team they lost it to last year should be all the motivation they need.

BTW, I'm sure every single player at the Stagg wouldn't trade a shot at the title for being "picked" to a post season AA team.  Enjoy the week and don't get wrapped up in the "being slighted" stuff because you can never be sure how often you'll get back to the Stagg.

badgerwarhawk

I figured you'd enjoy the article, Olinemom.  Yes, I'll be in Salem again this year and will try to stop by the Stone Nation tailgate.  I did stop by briefly last year but wasn't aware it was an open invite so I didn't stay.  Thought I'd try to take in the Marriott gathering as well.  I'll be sure to look you up at one of them.

Sakman, I know it's not an either or but once you're out of one the other is all you've got.  Given that, we'd rather play Saturday.

Wildcat, we may or may not win this Saturday but I'll guarantee you the game is the only thing our guys are focused on.   That and their school work, of course.  ;)

6-4
OT vs Eau Claire

Kleppe dominated the best two teams we played this year.

Pat,

Is the final voting released for the Gagliardi.  Will they release total votes or specific ballots?

Pat Coleman

They never have before, no.

Hey, at least he played a WIAC team and beat them.  :-\

Pat,

I know you have connections now.... just cuz they don't publish it doesn't mean it can't be found out. ;)

I would have to think it was close, several people have stated that they voted for Kleppe and there are only 30 some odd votes.  I'm curious to see just how close it was.
