Just a note that was touched on in one of the newspaper articles, which I don't recall seeing anyone mention here regarding the hiring of the new Whitewater coach -

One article did mention the new coach will be in the classroom, too? As an instructor/professor, or whatever level he has attained? Coach Berezowitz is retiring from his teaching duties at the end of the semester...

So in addition to the coaching talents/skills/knowledge all the candidates brought,  their teaching skills in the classroom were probably considered, too. Especially if the new coach will be taking on some of the classload from Berezowitz's departure...

Interesting stat on UNO having a predominent running game.  My observation after watching Warhawk football for the last 5 years is that having the balanced offense that we have had the last 2 years with the 2 headed monster of Beaver and Jacobs is what helped propel us to the national level.  Would hate to see that not continue and they return to a "run first, run often," offense.  Balance is what is needed to succeed in the post season and to keep playing until Christmas IMHO.

whawk 96.... take it easy I am sure the dline will be fine.  Replacing anyone will be tough. U replaced the great pumba and u turned out ok.. Rome wasnt built in a day.. take an ego reduction pill for a second and start focusing on track...

Just to elaborate, against great defenses the caliber of SJU, UMHB and MUC, you will not win mostly running the ball.  Hell, against the Warhawks whose defense ranks right there with those teams, you will not win mostly running the ball.  Look at the Stagg Bowl.  We shut down Kmic and they burned us with Garcon!

Man O Man, maybe if the defense stays tough and the running game is finely honed (and healthy) the transition will not be too rocky.
Don't anybody paint themselves into a corner here on D3.com.

I don't know what it might look like Capt' but last year his offense rushed the ball 529 times of a total 693 plays or just over 75% of the time.  The team had two 1,000 yard rushers and another with just shy of 500 yards.

One of those 1,000 yard rushers was the QB.

Stat briefs at UNO,
2006: 282.3/game rushing, 101.5/game passing
2005: 217.1/game rushing and 201/game passing
2004: 239/game rushing, 155.7/game passing.
8-3 record each year.

Looks to me like he can adapt his offense to differing circumstances and personnel.  Heck, if a team averages almost 300 yards per game on the ground, they ain't gonna need to pass much.  They had 2 QB's in 06 - a junior who seems to have been more of a runner, and a freshman.  So it was probably as simple as - it fit the personnel.
What the hell was that?  That was a Drop-kick.  Drop-kick? How much is that worth?  Three points.  THREE POINTS?!

footballfan413

Well, it is a lot easier to have a balanced offense when you have a ton of talent!  ;D

Ego reduction pill? and focus on track? Sometimes I wonder if you even read posts before you respond to it. I said that the D-line will not replace players, players are unique be it Pete Schmidt coming in after Adam Whittaker or Justin Beaver coming after Colin Burns. EVERYONE has their own unique characteristics is what I am saying. Didn't say it will be bad, in fact they will be good, the D-line has been good for a while. What I said was that these new young guys will have their own legacy that they will start. While we're giving suggestions, why don't you worry about your own responsibilities with your own life before you start pretending to think you know what's going on in mine.

1 for 27, he did not just randomly put that on here, someone asked who will replace Jacobs and Kleppe, I put some options down, he said that something I put was wrong, and so I asked him for his inside expertise. I wouldn't say he was blowing his own horn at all, instead providing information I specifically asked him for. BTW, 96, good luck in track represent our school well again as you did during the football season, similar success would be nice.

Changing the subject a little....What are the chances of any seniors from this years class from UW-W or any other school in the WIAC latching on to the big show next fall?  Any opinions?

Alot of people know about DStan getting scouted this year. From my point of view he had a pretty good national championship game also, both with and without the ball. It also seems that the NFL is starting to look at the smaller, quicker WR trend a la Steve Smith, Laverneous Coles, Moss from the Redskins, etc... I for one think he has a decent shot as a special teamer, he sees the field real well and is pretty slippery. Not sure though how that translates to the NFL game. There had also been some looks at Pete Schmitt, I heard. He has the desirable size but his blocking is above average to average on the D3 level, IMO. I would think it has to be great to outstanding to get a decent look. I wouldn't rule out, however, a team taking a look based purely on his size, strength and speed. Other than that I don't forsee and extended looks at any of the seniors.

I hear people saying "Oh, how are we going to replace all of our talent at UWW"...
IMO, just because we are losing some starters, it doesn't mean that we don't have some reserves that will step up and perform this year.

This isn't that good of a comparison, but when Carson Palmer left USC, people were wondering how you replace that talent, well then came Matt Leinart, and then came John David Booty.  I'm sure Brez didn't leave UWW without recruiting solid underclassmen.  So, I'm looking forward to what these new guys can bring to the table.
