Don't know how many of you from the Milwaukee area listened to the Sports Radio 1250 AM, but the topic this morning was the hiring at UWW.  Derek Levake and few other alumnus chimed in on the  topic.  Very interesting topics were discussed, with the ultimate conclusion from the half-hour segment being that Pilinkse missed out on a great coach and Whitewater's recruiting connection to Southeastern Wisconsin will take a major hit with Stan no longer there to capitalize on his relationship with every high school coach that he knows in Southeastern Wisconsin (which pretty much is every coach).

Good luck at to all at Stout with your current situation.  Whitewater's loss may be your gain!!!

This is just a question out of ignorance, not a political statement: was there an actual link between the chancellor and the coach's resignation?

Is there a link between the sun rising and it getting light outside?  ;)

It was a resignation in name only.   The offensive and defensive coordinators also "resigned."   Given the administration at Stout I'm not sure Zweifel would be interested in their head coaching position.

Can't imagine Z at Stout ........sounds more likely he takes a year off. Certainly believe that recruiting may take a major hit and have heard that from numerous current players and former players that their high school coaches will be reticent to support UWW versus other WIAC programs because of the way Z. was treated. Hope Stout gets a new coach that can help them get rid of that oversized pool table that they play on......Hope it works out for you Stout guy.....

I know that is is know two weeks old,and I thought we were going to let it go. Coach Zweifel was not mis treated, he just did not get the job.
None of us, I repeat None of us were on the search and sacreen comittee, so NONE of us know what happen or hopw the decision was made.
Therefore can we please just let this go and get over it.
This typeof stuff ahppens in the business world all the time. Also I am sure that Lance's relationship with the coaches that he went to school with is still good, and anyone who wants to see a kid get a great education, and play at what seems like a great football program will not hesitate to send their kid to UW Whitewater no mater who the head coach is. Maybe I am wrong but I certainmly hope not.

Screwdriver you are right we said we won't discuss it any more so I shouldn't have reiterated that he got screwed. There are quite a few people who are aware of what went on who have spoke to Z. and those on the steering committee and simply for the last time he got screwed but this is not the place to discuss it and since Z. has chose not to make a statement about it we respect his wishes and move on. You may believe whatever feel good phiosophy you desire.......Go Warhawks! Pound the Rock in 2007!!.......

Not where I live...

Interim coaches mean no quality recruits as you stated Blue Devil Bob and also I believe who will coach with the interim coach. Sounds bad and getting worse......

screwdriver007

Sakman,
It sounds like a bunch of sour grapes and spolled milk, and niether are worth crying over. I have been told by some high school coaches that Stan can rub people the wrong way and speaks his mind. Sometimes thats not how you should do things especially when you work at a public state tax payer funded university like schools in the UW system. If I acted that way I would lose every case I had. However I don't and I win more cases then I lose. However if I don't get a promotion or a bigger betetr job that i am trying to get. I will just suck it up,and move on ,and not cry like a teen age girl. As it seems like what I have read in news papers Stan has done to a point saying it feels like someone has died. News flas NO ONE HAS DIED.
Based on what other alum of UWW who have been in the work place for five or more years have said, yes at one time Stan was going to be the next ehad coach. However that was under a different chancellor and different AD.
A new AD and a new chancellor come in and all is forgotten.About what had been promised.
I even looked at the head coaches at UW-Whitewater and the majority of them are alumni, and thats the direction UWW decided to go on this one as well, and as I stated earlier any high school teacher/coach who is going to tell a kid not to go to Whitewater because Stan did not get the job, well he is not in it for the kid. It's non scholarship football, and the kids should be picking schools for an education not football, because not many of them are going to make it to the NFL.

QuoteLetting your head coach and the offensive and defensive coordinators go will blow this recruiting season right out of the water.
Compounding this situation, the administration has announced an interim head coach through the 2007 season

Sounds like the UW-Superior basketball approach: get rid of men's and women's coaches in late spring; start national searches, both of which fail by fall; hire a high school JV boys assistant coach to take over women's program. Two years of recruiting lost. Priceless.

Screwdriver you are entitled to your opinion however misinformed you are. Simply you are wrong......

screwdriver007

Where exactly am i wrong. In the sports at UWW five of them are lead by former warhawks. Football,Men's Basketball,Baseball,Golf and Softball. Information provided by the UWW Athletic website.
If you can show me some exact information wherwe I am wrong that would be great.
Like I said some of the high school coaches who I know in the madison area have told me that Mr. Zweifel has the ability to rub people the wrong way, which he muight have done in the 16 years he was at UWW.
So where exactly am i wrong, Also if anone here was in the interview room with the search and screeen comittee then [lease elt us know what happen. Otherwise everythign we here is second hand useless information. It's likle saying I talked to thios guy who talked to another guy who say jon's wife messing around with jill's boyfriend, who got caught in the act by Jill, who then proceeded to shoot bobn's wife.
Unl;ess you were in the room it's all here say,and notmally when someone doesn't get a job, they will make it sound like they got screwed.
It's wrong but it's the way it is. I know the guy who graduated from harvard law school who I beat out for the job probably thinks he got screwed because I got the job and he didn't because one of the partners at my firm and one of my professors are very very good friends.
Okay lets put this dam thiogn to reast, and move on Whitewater and Paul Plinsjke picked the right man for the job in their minds and thats who is going to lead the Hawks to a national title. Heck their offense can't do any worse against Mo9unt Union then they did this year against them can they????Yes I saw the game and Mt. Unionj dominated the UWW offense.

The easiest way to put this to rest is to stop responding to Sak, screwdriver.  He's the only one who's brought it up and you're the only one who's sustaining it.  It's hard to tell which of you is doing more to beat the dead horse.

You're right Badgerwarhawk ......Shoot me if I open my mouth on this subject again.....

screwdriver007

I agree. However don't shoot me. However if you d shoot Sakman. I know a good defense attorney you can hire. ;D

screwdriver007

Does anyone know if Pete Schmidt or Derrek Stanley have been invited to the Hula bowl like Bob Dochetrty and Trey Bell have been the last two years.
