UW-Whitewater wide receiver/kick returner Derek Stanley was slowed by a tender hamstring at Wednesday's Pro Day in front of NFL scouts at UW's McClain Center.  He did not register a time in the 40 due to a "rolling start" and the hamstring pull also affected his time in the shuttle run.  Stanley had been timed in the mid 4.3's for the 40 last spring. It won't be Stanley's last chance to show his speed for scouts. He is scheduled to participate in a Pro Day at UW-Whitewater's Kachel Fieldhouse that has been set up for UWW tight end Pete Schmitt.  The Whitewater event was originally planned for yesterday (3/7) but was rescheduled for next Thursday.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Jeff Potrykus writes about Wednesday's NFL Pro Day in today's Journal Sentinel  http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=574856

There's also this, http://www.madison.com/wsj/mad/sports/index.php?ntid=121996, from Tom Mulhern of the Wisconsin State Journal.  Go to the end of the article.

You mean Lakeland has finally had enough. 196-54 over the last 3 years.........Hopefully it won't be Tri-State again....

UWW opens the season vs. Lakeland on 9/1 still looking for a 10th game to be played
either 9/8 or 9/15.

So much for my theory that Lakeland has had enough......

Yeah, it would be nice to see some other than Lakeland, last year the cops told us to stop doing people push-ups after 49 cuz they thought we were going to drop the girls.... LOL

After three straight seasons with only nine takers per, the UWL Eagles will have play a full 10-game slate in 2007. They will play five home games, too, compared to just three in 2006...

The Eagles will open on the road at Hardin-Simmons, which finished 8-2 last year and ended up #13 in the final D3 poll. It's a home-and-home series; HS will face LAX in 2008, most likely at Winona State University, while Memorial Field is revamped...

Also on the schedule are Azusa Pacific at home and Division I-AA Drake (Iowa, 9-2 last year) on the road. Conference opener is Sept. 29, at home vs. the Warhawks...

For you UWL fans, a small added incentive to induce you to road trip to Drake is the quaint, classic (built in 1925), brick, bona fide, 18,000 seat stadium in which Drake plays its home football games and which is the annual site for the Drake Relays in the spring. It's one of my favorites, but don't expect the Stadium to be sold out. In 2005 Drake's average home attendance was 2344 (UWL's was 3102).

I agree, Frank.  Brian Carroll and I went to the last game at Drake.  It is a nice old stadium.

Drake put millions into the stadium and a new building for visitors locker rooms.  Much inproved, but there will only be 1,500 people at the game

Wendt and Englebert are having their pro day on Monday March 19th at Stout.  I talked to one of Stouts coaches last week and he claims that both of these guys are running sub 4.4 40's right now and both look in terrific shape.  Good luck guys!!

Stanley worked out for pro scouts at UW's pro day recently but was unable to fully participate because of a tweaked hamstring.

Another pro day is scheduled for WW this week (Thursday).  Pete Schmidt will work out and the scouts will take another look at Stanley.

Good luck both of you.  Wendt and Englebert as well.

Does La Crosse have a shot at dethroning WW in 07?

It seems that Whitewater has opened quite a gap between themselves and the rest of the WIAC.  Will that gap narrow in 07?

It appears the gap will become more narrow but Whitewater still has a lot of talent. The biggest voids to fill in my opinion are at QB and the middle of the defensive line.....after that it will be adjusting to a new, what appears to be, run oriented offense. If they can adapt to the new system and fill in the voids credibly theY will be I believe the team to beat once again in the WIAC.....
