Thanks Badgerwarhawk for the kind words.
I must say that I have had the priveledge in blocking for both Wurth and Beaver.  And must say that Wurth is an unreal athlete with his kicking ability and blocking, but Beaver is a better RB by far.  Stats wise and in every other facet of football. I love Chad and respect him as a football player.  But Beaver is on another level.  That is why he is the best running in UWW history and in D3 football.

I LOVE ROSAS

Which also in fact brings up another excellent point about Mr. Wurth indeed, being an outstanding back who had a good o-line.  I think the bigger issue on those UW-W squads was shaky defensive play and lack of a big-play threat at the wide receiver position that Stanley brought to the table during the last couple years.   On the Wurth led squads teams would stack the box with 8 and there was little or no running room.  Speed and the threat to hit the home run at anytime really helped to keep defenses on their heels during the last several years for the Hawks which the teams that Wurth was on did not have.  Remember you can win ball games with offense, but you need defense to win championships......Its an old addage, but true to form almost everytime.  In my opinion the Whitewater teams in '05 and '06 clearly had superior defensive and offensive play at all the key positions and their record the last two years shows it.

I agree completely and just allow me to drive home one of your points.  In my opinion, the difference that set the 05 and 06 team apart from previous 2000 teams was the development of a great passing game to go with their already great running game giving the Hawks one of the best balanced offenses in the country.  They could run it....they could pass it........their defense kept opponents off the field and special teams gave them consistantly great field position.  A complete team with very little weakness and it took them to the top.  The UWW teams I watched years before that were predominately running teams.  To make it deep into the play-offs and compete at the elite level, it takes more IMHO.

Is there any way that we could have a WIAC message board and a serperate Whitewater message board so we dont have to read about the warhawks in almost every post.  Its like an alumni Whitewater board that argues whos better than who.... kind of boring

razor_ramone

It sounds like someone is jealous of the large number of Warhawks that are on the board. I am not a warhawk however I do think it's cool that all the Warhawks are on the board supporting each other in one way or another.

they shut us down on our own site, pat coleman is our message board savior!!!  thanks and go hawks!!  also can you get a # 10 from you know where delivered across state lines?

I'm going to differ on the fact that WW had no big play impact before Stanley.  In 2002, Leszcynski had a 67 yard TD and WW blocked a field goal attempt for a TD to beat Stout 24-21 to help knock out the Blue Devils from the playoffs.  Also, in 2003, Leszcynski had a 76 yard TD to help beat Stout 28-23.  That was a key home loss that also pretty knocked Stout from any playoff hopes.
I may not have much to say, but I'll say it anyway.

razor_ramone

Would anyone agree that the QB's during Wurths career were not as acurate as Jacobs became over the past two years.
Jimmy L was good but the QB's were not the most accurate in the world.
Also i believe Captain had something to do with that blocked field goal against stout in 02.

Feel free to write about one of the other seven teams. Your name is "ihavesomething2say" so perhaps you could prove it?

Razor-ramone... no Im not jealous.  It was a sarcastic joke because a lot of the posters are warhawk fans.

I attribute most of Whitewater's success, especially on the offensive line to Rosa's Stuffed Pepperoni Pizza, at ten pounds per slice it is the cheapest and best weight-gainer going......And still is............. ;D

For those of us new to the WIAC, I would like to get a list of places to stay, eat, or even see while we are out at your schools.

If you have any recommendations on hotels, restaurants, pizza places, bars, etc. etc. for parents who are attending away games it would be great.   I'd also welcome any advise on places to avoid.   ;)

Lastly, maybe there is some place or something that your school is know for, that we must see or try while we are there.

Any information would be great!

WHITEWATER is known for accounting.  Be sure not to miss the hallowed accountant's ledger book permanently on display in the lobby of the business building.  If that isn't exciting enough drive across town and tour the business park.  :D  I hate to admit it but, honestly, I can't think of anything that's a "must see" here.   You might enjoy a drive through the Kettle Morraine or around Whitewater Lake.

Sleep:  We have an Amer Host or Amer Inn (something like that) w/ a pool and a Super Eight without one though they do have whirlpool suites.   There is also a bread and breakfast, Hamilton House.  I rent the rooms in my basement at a reasonable rate.  ;)

Eat:  Jessica's has good breakfasts.  For fancy dining there's Randy's.  They also have a brew pub with several different beers.  Another popular spot is just west of town on hiway 12, Saxes Lone Star which also functions as the bar of choice following football and basketball games.  Ricks is another good bar where people will congregate after athletic events.  Of course there is also a couple of the usual suspects like McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Subway and Culvers.   A new mexican place just opened in the strip mall.  I don't know anything about it but the one in Janesville is pretty decent.

Places to avoid:  WHITEWATER  lol   ;)

Welcome to the league.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all the shooting victims, their families, and the entire Virginia Tech and Blacksburg communities.  What a heart breaking tragedy!

badgerwarhawk,

Thought I would say Hi! It has been awhile. I am sorry that I missed that accountant's ledger display on my last two visits to Whitewater! I guess I spent too much time in the parking lot for the pre-game warm-ups. I hope to be there again next year since that would mean the Warhawks are on their way deep in the playoffs. Hope the off season  finds you well. Just hangin' out here in great north MN style. Looking forward to another round of "Purple" in '07 and  I have decided to call the '07 season....
