In response to the question about amenities in WIAC cities.

There are three nice hotels downtown.  The Radisson, Holiday Inn, and Courtyard are what you would expect from those chains.

The Guest House Motel, also downtown, is cheaper and charming, but not as well-maintained.

There are a bunch of chain hotels on Rose Street, between downtown and I-90.

The Eagles Nest, across the street from Mitchell Hall (gymnasium) opposite from the stadium, is a nice place for lunch or a beverage before or after the game.  Be prepared for lots of UWL fans!

La Crosse has several nice restaurants.  The Freighthouse, downtown, has very good, basic American food.  Hunan Restaurant, downtown, has good Chinese.  Manny's, in the Valley View Mall area, has the area's best Mexican.  Big Al's downtown, or Edwardo's, on Rose Street, both have excellent pizza.

PM me when you want to come to La Crosse for more detailed information.

I used to really like Piggys until it changed ownership a few years ago and completely changed.  I had ribs the last time I was there and they weren't anywhere near as good as they had been.

While in Whitewater, I recommend the Mad Boar for post-game drinks and Ricks Eastside Pub for post post-game drinks.  When you go there, tell them Large Marge sent you.

The College Pub for a couple beers post-game isn't too bad either in Whitewater.  They just renovated the place which has opened some space up in the joint for a little more elbow and beer drinking room.  They also put some flat-screen tvs to finally be updated 21st century style.  Of course if you stay out TOO LATE and need a bite to eat there is a Taco Bell on the west side of town where I suggest you try a famous 7-Layer Burrito. :-\

Great job, Gordon and D-3 Football with the Zwiefel interview.  As a WW fan, let me be the first to verbalize how DEPRESSING listening to it was, however.  His loss to the program as an OC will be huge but I would say that his loss on the recruiting side of the program will be equally as great.  He was the personality of the program when it came to attracting players and was instrumental in bringing many of the 05-06 team to UWW on both sides of the ball.  He will be so greatly missed.  I will watch him work his magic at URF with mixed emotions.  Wanting him and the program to excel and not enjoying the fact that, given a little time, there will be one more WIAC team that can win, "on any given Saturday!"

The best of luck to him and his family!

Any word on how recruiting is going? This is a big year for a lot of programs. Only 2 programs bring back their starting QB.  Oshkosh and Stout.

Based on what I have seen and have been told UW=-Whitewaters recruiting this eyar has done just fine without coach Zweifel. I even get the impression that is more of a team effort in recruiting compared to the apst where coach Z thought he had to do everything himself.
He will be missed. However things happen for a reason, and for whatever reason the AD didn't think he was the right fit.
Also ti will be a intersting game on Sturday october 6,2007 whenthe Falcons and coach Z visit Perkins stadium.

There was an article in today's La Crosse paper about losing the Drake game.  Apparently, we have some prospects, but the coach calls the chances of a replacement fifty-fifty.
