Jesse Wendt signed a free agent contract with the Washington Redskins.  Is this the first time we have ever had 2 WIAC football players sign in the same year?

Doubtful.  I'm pretty sure there's been a number of years when we've had two or more players sign free agent deals.

In fact, I believe in both the years when Beckham and Kriewaldt were drafted, the WIAC had at least one and maybe two guys sign free agent deals.  Plus, I believe the year Matt Pagel signed with the Chargers, their was another player who signed.  I'm not sure where to look to back up my Swiss cheese memory though.

Lets add one more WIAC player to today's list.  Pete Schmitt tells Warhawkfootball.com that he has also been signed as a free agent with the Washington Redskins. The UW-Whitewater senior will attend the Redskin's rookie minicamp along with Stout's Jesse Wendt this coming weekend.  Schmitt tells me that he  talked immediately folowing the conclusion of the draft with couple scouts from Washington and the Tight Ends coach and they are excited to bring me out to Washington. It has been a great day for NCAA III football and the WIAC!

I don't think anyone cares where you stand.

I hadnt posted in a while so I figured you guys missed me.
I believe Stanley will 100% get picked up maybe not in the draft but definitely as a free agent. When you think about it he is a small receiver but he is an unbelievable athlete at any level.  Wendt is bigger and stronger and maybe faster in a 40 but Stanley is just better at football and a better athlete. Also Stanleys ability to play special teams has to factor in.  I do also believe that Wendt will get picked up as well because of his size and potential.  Like a very smart man said early as for Pete if he get in the right system he could do some things.  But as for Englebert we already know where I stand on that.

GO BEARS!!!!

Congrats to Stanley and Schmitt on their chances to play at the next level.  We're all pulling for you both.

razor_ramone

Pretty impressive scouting report on Stanley which ahs been posted on warhawkfootball.com. The only thing that was bad about his football skills was that  Stanley is not a great route runner and needs to work on his technique.
If thats the one thing he needs to work on thats to bad.
Gotta beat the best to be the best otherwise your just one of the rest

The marketplace has spoken now - Stanley with all his virtues and shortcomings is a late 7th round draft pick. The next questions are " does he deserve to be and, if not, then what?"

chmarx

Well, he gets a shot.  As well as some other WIAC players.

That's really all most D3 players can hope for.

Obviously, frank uible, the Rams must think he worthy of a "late 7th round draft pick," so that's all that matters.  The questions you ask and the way you ask them seem to imply you don't agree.  Your're free to have your (another) negative opinion.  Your questions do nothing for me.

Agreed Bobo.  You call that eating humble pie, Frank?   ;D
I would guess that if Stanley hadn't been drafted, you would have had no problem writing your, "I told you so," post.

I will try to be understanding because of this point but let's give the Rams the benefit of the doubt, shall we?
They  have.

Note that I have never seen Stanley play, live or on tape. Merely was using statistical probabilities for analysis.

Every D-3 player has to beat the odds of statistical probabilities.  Congrats to all who did!  Great day for D-3 football.  Now go work hard and stick, boys!

Congrats to Stanley for being drafted!  I am glad I was wrong in my prediction that I thought he would be a FA signing and not get drafted.

He's already beaten the odds you gave him, Frank.  You're the only one asking those questions. The real question now is can he find a way to stick on the roster.

Congrats to Stanley and Allen for leading the way as draft picks and to Wendt for his FA signing.  If the league took the time to look at Bob Docherty, Pete Schmidt's FA signing shouldn't be far off.

I have to admit that it was way cool seeing Stanley's name and UW-WHITEWATER scroll by on ESPNews.

Does he deserve it?  Who cares.  He made it into the draft.
