Two time National Runner-ups now have a HC from Nebraska, an OC who is an ex-raider and a QB from California.  If they can gel quickly with the guys and mix in a healthy portion of chemistry, the Hawks may have just put together a winning recipe to make a big noise again.

Actually he is in Whitewater now and I can only assume that is happening. Seems like a nice young man who I am told can run and pass..... This week he is painting a house in Oak Park .....

Thanks for the update, Sak.   The last I had heard he hadn't applied yet so it's good to know he's in town.  Now we'll see if he can compete with Razor and Donovan.  The SCIAC isn't the WIAC but Jones has been impressive.   I don't see how the competition at the position can do anything but improve the play of whoever ends up the guy.

Welcome, Danny, nice to have you onboard.

I agree, and didn't they beat Bethel in the playoffs last year? As I said before, pay Lindy's no mind....

The official word on UW-Whitewater's new offensive coordinator will be coming in the next couple of days.

Here you go.....
http://www.warhawkfootball.com/newswire.asp

That really tells you something about Warhawk football right now...how many guys leave a head coaching and athletic director position at a DIII school to become an offensive coordinator at another DIII school?

The new guy may be a Mount graduate, but just a random thought here, after looking at all the national and conference championships won by Mount over the years and the fact that Zebrowski graduated in 1991, it appears he really didn't learn the winning formula at Mount after all.  It seems he was part of only one conference championship in 1990 (possible another in 1986) and no national championships. Do you think they still consider him part of the Purple Raider family considering that less than stellar record while a player?  Maybe kirasdad or raiderguy can help shed some light on this subject?

Kehres has been coaching at MTU since 1974 and the HC since 1986 so Coach Zebrowski played for Kehres during his early years as a HC.  Coach Zebrowski does get some mention in the latest Raider Newsletter as being a HC and a member of the Raider "Fleet of Coaches" here:
http://www.mtunionfootball.com/mtunionfootball/raidersnewsletter/07may.pdf

Also, MTU records from 86-90 were:
86  11-1
87  6-4
88  6-3-1
89  7-2-1
90  10-1

Tot:  41-11-2
Avg:  8.2-2.2-.04

Funny when 8-2 is considered as "Less than stellar".  :)

I would say Coach Zebrowski is considered part of the family, yes.

I guess it's a case of "if you can't beat 'em...."  ;)

Though I don't know who else was available, they were inundated with applications, and can't make any comparisons along those lines I like this hire.  Zembrowski's offenses at Lakeland have been decent when they've played competition that was at their level.  Obviously the WIAC is much tougher but he's going to have better athletes at his disposal as well.  There's really no reason to think that he won't be effective implementing Coach Leipold's scheme and whatever they keep from the previous one.  I also like the fact that he's had head coaching experience and is experienced coaching quarterbacks.   He recruited in  Wisconsin so he's familiar with the high school coaches and now he has WHITEWATER'S reputation, facilities, etc. to offer.

I guess the important thing now is that he get down here as soon as possible so we can get to work.  But I suspect that's been discussed.

I don't know if any of you have caught it or not but the Minnesota and Wisconsin are in serious disagreement regarding tutition reciprosity.  Minnesota thinks it's students are getting the short end of the stick and they (Minnesota) aren't collecting enough tutition from Wisconsin students.  The difference is roughly $3000 a semester per student and there are roughly 8000 Wisconsin residents attending U of M campuses so it's not petty cash.    Minnesota has threatened to drop the program after the 2007-2008 school year if Wisconsin won't redo it.   Wisconsin is dragging it's feet.

Chances are this will be worked out before it comes to be and it would probably have a minimal impact if any on most of our programs.  However if you look at the athletic rosters of Stout and River Falls in particular the impact could be far more significant.   This is something they want to keep their eye on.

My only comment about Jim Zebrowski being hired is he has proven he can coach and win regularly in D3. The talent issue is certainly an upgrade considering the hammering he has taken when Lakeland has played WW.

As far as what he may have picked up while at MUC it would probably be the emphasis on education and community which was brought up in the press release. The "values" LK instills in his players both on the field and off are pretty apparent, again by the success MUC has had both on the field and the graduation rate of his players. (Better than his winning percentage)

What else he brings will probably be his own. He is certainly far enough removed from the "system" he played in, that it has been changed numerous times over the years. As anyone who knows LK he is a master at adapting to whatever situations are presented, whether it is his use of his existing talent or game day changes that need to be implemented. That isn't something that is learned IMO. It's a gift.

Oh one more thing....of all the previous encounters with his "students" Lk has prevailed every time except once. ONU in 2005 won the regular season game and all that did was make the team mad and they went on to run the table right through the Stagg Bowl against some team named Wisconsin Whitewater. ;D

Oh I forgot...they haven't lost since that game.

I would agree with Kirasdad that he is most definitly part of the Raider family.

Once a "Raiderguy" always a Raiderguy I always say. ;)

Is it September yet? See you in St Cloud!
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

Just for the record...Oak Park, is also the town adjacent to Thousand Oaks where CLU is located...coincidence?
