How long were you waiting for an opportunity to use that?   ;)

WARHAWKS adding video scoreboard....http://www.warhawkfootball.com/newswire.asp

Looks like a fun toy to add to the Perkins Stadium game day experience.  Just a bit puzzled, though, at the comment made by Paul Plinske, Ph.D., Director of Intercollegiate Athletics at UW-Whitewater, when he said  "...that a new scoreboard, with replay capability, will further improve a first-rate facility and help us attract more student athletes to our university..."  I can see where it improves a first rate facility, but does he really think student-athletes as a whole will be attracted to UWW because off a video screen at the football stadium?  That's a stretch if you ask me.  Obviously, it isn't that big of a deal...but, thought I would ask since this blog has been pretty dead most of the time lately.

This is a message board. :)

You don't think a player would love to play in a stadium with a replay board? I would.

I guess I read it as saying all student athletes, golfers, swimmers, football players alike, would want to attend a school with a video scoreboard in the football stadium.  Maybe he did mean only football players. Ok, I see your point.

Obviously athletes are attracted to a school for different reasons but facilities often play a significant role.   Experience proves it.

UW-WHITEWATER is undergoing a significant upgrade in several facilities.  Work on the new track and competitive soccer field is nearing completion and work on softball, baseball upgrades and the soccer practice field will begin next year.  We're going to end up with first class facilities when everything is completed.  It's going to help imo.

I agree the video thing may not have as much influence on athletes in other sports but I still think it will be a factor because it shows the university's committment to athletics and providing first class facilities and athletes are also students who attend the games.   It's going to be impressive.

Exactly, I think the upgrading of the game/practice surfaces will have a much greater impact in attracting potential althletes. It's great to hear about the progress they're making.

It sounds like a nice toy, and I wouldn't be surprised if it helped recruit football players.

Team USA beat Germany 33-7.  They will play the winner of the Sweeden Vs. Japan (in progress) game in the Championship on Sunday.  I read somewhere that if USA made it to the Championship that NFL Network would air the final.  I"ll try to find confirmation of it.

Much closer game than I had anticipated.  It was only 19-7 heading into the 4th quarter.  From the brief game report listed on the wc2007 website, it sounds like Team USA was vastly superior when it comes to special teams again today,  http://wc2007.info/cgi-bin/news_e.cgi?33.

BTW, anybody else having trouble accessing that website?

I'll have a story up on our site soon in case the official league site goes down.

Japan crushed Sweden 48-0 in the deciding Pool 1 game.

The close game for the USA may be an indicator that US played on two days rest while Germany played on four.  (Although I'm not sure a 77-0 win couldn't be called a rest day.)  Serves those Germans right for bombing Pearl Harbor, right Blutarsky?

Japan Played their first game on Saturday and then had off till Today.  Must be nice to be the host country.  At least Japan and USA have the same number of days off till the championship.  3 Games in 6 days for Team USA is crazy.  They only have a 45 man roster also if I remember right.

Which money-bags donor is paying for the scoreboard??  Any ideas??  ???

Who cares which "money- bags" paid for it...I think it's great  not all the "big money"  goes to the D-1 schools!
