I'm hearing RF has hired a replacement for Z. A high school head coach and former player at RF. If true, they got a good one!

Ya big tease.  Tell us who it is for gosh sakes.

That was reported a couple days ago at http://www.whitewaterbanner.com/ and credited to Bob Burrows a Reporter from the River Falls Journal. Scroll about half way down the page for the full story.

"O'Grady said Friday morning that former UWRF defensive back Scott Imrie, most recently head football coach at Delavan-Darien High School in Delavan, Wis., has agreed to join the Falcon coaching staff as defensive backs coach. He said current assistant coach Andy Kotelnicki would most likely be named offensive coordinator. For more on this story see the Aug. 2 print edition of the River Falls Journal."

BOBO,

You are correct, I wish him all the luck in the world in his move to the NFL. As I do with any D3 player taking that next step. He is a great player. I did see one of his jaw dropping catches in last years Stagg Bowl.

GRANDILOQUENT?

I had to head for Websters on that one..... the reason I didn't know the meaning is I would take issue with "POMPOUS" as any type of adjustive that would describe me. How does "supremely confident" sound instead? LOL.

But I will take the eloquent part to heart.
"of a kind to move the hearers, articulate, fluent, glib" I think that applies.

I suppose now that makes me Grandiloquent? Again LOL. ;D
WELCOME TO THE MACHINE!

I was thinking colorful.
How would that be for a proper description? 8)

From the Ram's website about yesterdays practice.

RAM BITS: The play of the day goes to rookie receiver Derek Stanley, who made an adjustment on a deep pass and outjumped cornerback Darius Vinnett for a circus catch that also drew the loudest applause of the day from the fans in attendance...

Way to go, Derek!  Could usually count on seeing atleast one of those jaw dropping catches a game!!

Let's hope that Derek realizes it's only the first day of training camp and no 7th round selection ever made a regular season roster with a first day, up-in-the-air, acrobatic catch.  Sure, the fans sitting on their lawn chairs around the practice field like to see that stuff, but the coaches have been there, done that far too often to get overly excited.  He needs to "keep grounded," so to speak and play each rep as if it's the last one he'll ever play - make the easy catches, too, run good routes, make a key block to spring Steven Jackson or one of the other running backs on a big gainer and throw in a special teams hit consistently for good measure.  That first day catch is already history and won't even be remembered unless he makes this team.  I'm sure even raiderguy, in his own grandiloquent way, wishes Derek the best of luck in making the Rams roster as much as any D3 fan does.  I think it must be hard for him to put that into words Whitewater fans can appreciate.

I think Stanley and the UWW fans know what he is up against but thanks for the concern anyway.

Congratulations to Justin Beaver, AJ Raebel and Jeff Schebler on being named First Team All-American's on  D3football.com's 2007 preseason team.  All three were prominently mentioned on the 2006 postseason All-American team.

Former UW-Whitewater tight end Pete Schmitt left Washington Redskins' practice early on Monday (7/30) with a left rotator cuff injury. Schmitt went for an MRI exam last night. No results of the MRI have been released.W-Whitewater tight end.

Going to be checking out Derek Stanley at St. Louis Rams' training camp on Wednesday and Thursday. I'll be giving you an update.

This may not be news, but it is for me:  Stan Z. will be in the pressbox for RF at each, or at least at each HOME, game. Heard that from an asst. coach this morning. Z's son will be playing for the Falcons.

Fred for a while things were looking pretty good for the Falcons and maybe they still are. Come see us in the parking lot at the Perk when we play you guys because I owe you a beer from last year.....

Fred
Thanks for the update. thats very interestign seeing he might need to be at two places at once. A Beloit Memorial High School event which they maybe having on a saturday, which the AD's need to be at even at the high school level.Especially ones who have never been an AD before. As well as at the UWRF games.
I know Z is a great gouy, and spent a heck of a lot of time at the office at UWW New years eve,New Years Day,Mothers Day,4th of July. However how he is going to be able to be at two places at once. That is a mystery to me. As he is good but he is not that good.
Gotta beat the best to be the best otherwise your just one of the rest

I like the top 25 very much and the pre season All American selection.  Although I thought I might of seen Brent Allen in there after being first team all conference last year.  Also Micheli is now second teamer.  I also thought Tristan Borzick might be in there.  But that is just my thoughts.

Hi Fred.  Are you still a big shot mayor?  I am fighting with my mayor now because I don't like the sound of those loud race cars on Friday nights when I'm trying to drink beer and watch baseball in my screened in porch.  Anyway, another matter:Will Stan Z. at least get a hot dog or something in your press box because us Clear Channel guys never get anything over there.
