Sakman 1111- I wanted to say to one of the Chiefs when I greeted them that I played starting guard at 145# for the 1951 River Falls Wildcat football team, and still had some eligibility left, so could I walk on? But I restrained myself.

The Chiefs made no friends in RF last Friday nite when, supposedly, after only a few minutes scrimmaging with the Vikings, Herm Edwards called the whole thing off. Fans had paid ten bucks apiece, five to park, and a few of the players got chippy and started a little rumble, both Vikings and Chiefs, so the scrimmage was cancelled. Much local grumbling, but no  apologies from Chiefs for ripping off fans. My version comes from a local newspaper columnist who did a good job of raking the Chiefs over the coals. I was not there.

Only teams I see possibly catching the hawks are LAX and UWSP (Yup, seriously, they possibly could). They would have to improve tremendously on last year, especially in the O-line area for UWSP to have a shot and the LAX secondary would have to reload also. We lost a lot but we have reloaded and I think it's going to be lights out this year for the rest personally.....................but I am a little biased.

Looks like D. Stan had a pretty good night for the Rams: 4-61 Receiving (leading receiver in the game), 2-41 kickoff returns, and 1-11 punt returns.  I'm looking forward to seeing him play on national television on the 18th against the Chargers.

I was in the Metrodome for the Rams and Vikings.  Derek was doing virtually everything.  WR, KR, PR, gunner on punt coverage.  While their is plenty of room for improvement, he certainly caught the coaching staff's eyes with his play.  The Rams game next weekend against the Chargers will be nationally televised.

Here is the Rams/Vikes game story from the Post-Dispatch.  Stanley gets some positive ink for his solid game.

Marques Hagans, one of the wide outs competing with Stanley for a roster spot had a good effort, as well.

If anyone out there subscribes to the NFL Network on Direct TV I sure would appreciate a copy of tonight's Redskins at Tennessee telecast.  I'm sure we could work out a financial arrangement.  You can email me at tpattis@core.com.

Pete Schmitt will see plenty of action tonight as the #2 Redskins' fullback with starter Mike Sellers to be held out of action due to injury.

Be interesting to see if Joe Werner has many plays for the Packers tonight.  Almost makes me want to stay home and watch.

Talk about awesome!!!  D-3 athletes like Stanley making plays in the BIG SHOW, GREAT JOB!!!!  Also don't for get about Clint Kriewaldt, he made several tackles tonight against the Pack.

Former UWW's Pete Schmitt caught 1 pass for 10 yards at the 2 min warning, falling just short of the goal.  WAS scored on a 1 yard TD run on the next play.  They tacked on a defensive TD 2 plays later during TENN next offensive series, fumble recovery by D3 Salisbury CB Byron Westbrook in the endzone.  WAS 14 TENN 6

Seemed like Kriewaldt was flying around the field all night; he got quite a bit of playing time tonight... Was credited with being involved in five tackles...

The Packer website didn't list the number of plays each player participated in tonight, but Joe Werner was in on at least three plays, best that I can tell from watching the game. He was blocking on the Packers' last three plays...

There was a second player, also #47, who played for the Pack tonight - practice squad player Carl-Johan Bjork. He's a linebacker, so I think if I saw a #47 on special teams tonight, and I don't remember seeing one, that would probably have been him...

Wonder what was going through Werner's mind tonight as he stood on an NFL field's sidelines with Brett Favre,  one of the greatest GBs of all time... Has to be surreal for him, considering he hasn't played football in so long...

Go to redskins.com to watch the game highlights for 8-11 to see the key plays Schmitt and Westbrook had in Washington's victory.

Super job all around by Stanley.  This is a nice article, Dallas.  The Rams head coach and I'm sure his position coach from some of the things I've read elsewhere, seem to think highly of him.  I've never been around Stanley, but he sounds like a real humble kind of guy, but with a killer instinct when it matters most.  Let's hope he can remain healthy and continue to turn heads with his (high) level of play.

Nice write-up on the d3football.com front page, but they seemed to forget Clint Kriewaldt played at UW-Stevens Point.  The former Pointer did make several tackles, officially 4 solo and 1 assist in the Steelers 13-9 defeat to the Packers.  I think that should have been enough to earn him a mention, don't you?  If you're going to mention guys who didn't play (like Elliott), at least give credit to all those who did.
