Hey, I wouldn't overlook Lakeland if I were you. They could possibly beat this Warhawk team if they do these four things:

1. Pour that 35k a year for tuition into their Quantum Physics department
2. Develop a time machine
3. Travel back to 2001
4. Round all of us up when we were 14-16 years old and play us

Even then it's still a maybe...... :D
2007, 2009, 2010, 2011 NCAA Division 3 Champions.
2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 WIAC Champions.

Checked the Stout Website - Non-Conference games include Menlo(Northwest Conference), Missouri-Rolla(d2) and Whitworth.  They had an interesting comment on their website:
The last time Stout was projected to finish eighth, the Blue Devils went on to claim the conference crown with a 7-0 conference record. Stout posted an overall record of 10-1 and made their first ever trip to the NCAA tournament.

Warhawk96;

I do not post on this site, because my son is the head coach at another school but there is no way Lakeland can beat UWW. I hope they can keep it closer than the past two years. Maybe by 35-50. Final score UWW 62 Lakeland 18. Not enough athletes in their system to compete at this level. I hope they stay healthy. Good Luck to your team this year. No serious Injuries.

On a side note. I saw Webber International (NAIA) play two games last year. Great Athletes and Great Speed. They have Big Big $ behind their program. As a retired coach I was impressed with their squad. Since the game is in Florida, Point will have their work cut for them.

I know it's scientifically possible for lightning to strike twice in the same place, but...with 11 starters to replace and the off-season turmoil, for Stout to surprise the world and jump to 1st in the league would be...shocking.  But, as you said, it has happened before, so anything is possible.

Nothing like a Cinderella Story but I think the conference as whole was not as strong then as it is now.

I would have to disagree and think that the conference is down as a whole.  Obviously, WW of the last 2 years would handle every team from back then and LAX was excellent last year but the overall quality of teams in the conference is down.  In the past everyone could basically play with everyone but the last 2 years there seems to be alot more inconsistency with the mid and lower level teams.  The bad teams now are REALLY bad, stout this past year and pvilll the year before.  In the past the bottom team was at least respectable, the past 2 years that hasn't been the case.  Also in the past there were 4-5 teams every year with ligit chances of winning the conference, now only 1-2 teams have a any shot.(barring massive injuries ofcourse)

I know it's early, but I haven't heard any comments on Danny Jones.  Is he in camp, and if so, are there any first, early, impressions out there?

I don't think so Clown.  Not counting playoff games the WIAC had 2 more wins in 2006 than in 2000.  In 2000 two teams had only 2 wins and one had 3.  In 2006 nobody had less than 3 wins.  Also within in the conference in 2000 there were two teams that only had 1 win while in 2006 only one team had 1 win.  Overall to me the balance of the program thru the middle of the WIAC looks closer in 2006 than it did in 2000.  The biggest difference is WW has been a big step above the rest of the conference.

Dallas, there is a short comment about Danny Jones in the story from the Gazette.  He is in camp.

As reported Jones is in camp and been in Whitewater for most of the summer. Word is from camp that he is currently immersed in a battle for the starting QB spot......
